It's Friday!!!!!!!

Ran down to South City last night - as I was not happy with the finish fabric I was using so I needed to get something different. There was of course other things that I HAD to have so I ended up with two bags of stuff!! Now what's up with that - I went in with the intention of one maybe two things and get two, count them, two bags of stuff!!!! Of course it was stuff I could have lived without.... but now do I really want to have to go back for a second trip???? Shouldn't I try and only make one trip??? That was some heavy rationalization there!! :)

Today after work is a quick trip to Britex - our own building of sewing pleasure since 1952. This place is floor upon floor of fabric and then more fabric. The whole of the 3rd floor is notions, I'm talking a wall of trim - floor to ceiling - at the other end of the third floor is the lace/bridal department - again hundreds of bolts of lace - there could even be thousands. Then there are the ribbon racks - imagine two sided 8 foot tall 3 feet wide racks the stretch for a good 12 to 15 feet full of all widths and colours of ribbon. It just goes on and on!!! The down side is that some of the fabrics although great can be kind of pricey. It is right off of Union Square so there is all the shopping that the Square holds.

Watched Ugly Betty and Grey's so we are back in that mode of Thursday night TV.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Take care,
edgar

  2. Why Shame on you....buying two bags of stash...you are so lucky to have a material store that big...there is Joann Fabrics store that is about a half hour away from me and that is all there is plus the stitching store too. I am very envious....I wish I was living where you are living at...I would be in 7th Heaven I think.

    Have Fun with your Stash

    Take care & Happy Stitching

  3. I was wondering what Britex was...now I know!

We used to live near the Amish communities in northern Indiana, and we always saw commercials for a place that boasted thousands of bolts of fabric - Yoder's. It was about 45 minutes away from where we lived although I never got the chance to check it out.

  4. Have fun at Britex. We'll be in the City at the end of May and I'll make sure to stop there this time. But I'm keeping away from Needlepoint, Inc., just around the corner. That place is pricey dangerous.

But what I really want to do is drive down to Los Altos and eat chinese chicken salad at Chef Chu's.

  6. Oh my! You are going to make me swoon with talk of all those ribbons and trims!!! I think the area I am in must be the trim wasteland, and you are living in the Nivana of fabrics and trim!!

    Enjoy your stashing...

  7. How lucky are you to live near that store? I could spend hours browsing and no doubt spending too.

  8. Are you trying to make us jealous?! LOL! I would probably come out a penniless peddler if I lived anyway near there ;)
