A Little Stitchin and a Little Christmas

Gentle Friends,  here's a snaperoo of Christmastide ...

... I popped it out of the Q-snaps so it's really very wonky!!  Now it's really just fill stitching and bouncing around with "Mudpie" so that I get an even mix of the shades of brown for the stonework.

Over the last few days, we've been putting up Christmas around the house.,  Even though we're in Lockdown once again I just refuse to let it spoil Christmas.  So, we got the tree up, put the cedar garland up inside and around the Front Door and down the front hall... or I should say Rico got the garland up!!  He does a much better job than I could.  Over the weekend I got busy in the kitchen.  Again, I am refusing to let things drop!!  So like in years past I created some treats to send out to friends and family...  this year I made...

Pecan Pralines, one of my favorite old fashioned candies...

...  I chose to make something I've not made in the past... 7 Layer or Magic Cookies.  I've seen them called by both names... they are pretty tasty!!

... and I wrapped up the goodies with Vanilla Nut Fudge dipped in white chocolate!

It was a bit of a job to get it all done, but I've got all the Priority Mail boxes packed up and ready to take to the USPS this afternoon when I turn off my computer!

  4. Oye! Each and every one looks amazing! Those pecan pralines especially I think. I have never made them...nor tasted them. Can I bet you to share the recipe with us??? Like Denise, we call the 7 layer bars "Hello Dolly's." Christmas was the only time we had them, so they are a holiday favorite for me. Unfortunately, I think it is me that ends up eating most of the pan! Your brick work is looking fantastic. Must have been a stonemason in another life. ;-) ~Robin~

  6. Oh my gosh those goodies look so good. I remember those seven layer cookies from the school lunchroom. They were one of the few things that I ever loved about school lunches.
And pecan pralines - just YUM.

  10. Good for you and Rico!! I would love to taste your goodies and see his decorating!! My little great niece heard the news about all the cancellations and some dummy said something about cancelling Christmas. She came to my sister(her grandma) crying and asked if Christmas was going to be cancelled. My sister told her absolutely not!! That pleased her. What a crazy world we are in right now. My belief is Christmas happened and could never be cancelled!!!!

  13. Your Christmas enthusiasm and not letting the covid spoil everything, has made me at last decide to do some decorating and find my little tree to display. I wasn´t even going to do any cooking this year, but your wonderful goodies are mouthwatering - just look at that Vanilla nut fudge and the Pecan Pralines - they would go down perfect with the coffee I have sitting in front of me. I see you have left the recipe, thank you.
