Is that a Blue Tree???

GR&DF once again your very kind comments are making my morning!!! AND I opened up the mails this morning to one very sweet email from a non-blogger from Pittsburgh - Hi Cindy - that was very sweet!!

I do love getting email and nice email is the best. Last week I did get an EVIL email - but after much mulling over and a quick delete button I am not going to even go there - but rise above such slings and arrows. Rico thinks I shouldn't and that I should call them out... and usually I would just let loose... but I want to keep this a nice Blog and if an individual is gonna be like that then what can I do - moving on!!

On the way home yesterday I thought I should get a snap of this tree....

How great is this - a blue tree. There are a few of them along a ridge up on Diamond Heights above the city. Near to our Safeway grocery store. These blue flowers last a long time so it will be there for quite a while. Yesterdays pink flowering tree I think has been identified by Sharon in St Louis - as a flowering crab apple - and that works for me as these do look like apple blossoms. I wonder what this blue one might be? Any guesses? It is rather bushy so It might just be some way over sized shrub- no fragrance at all - or none that my schnoz could discern.

Last night the flicker was an action packed "entertainment" only kind of flick - "2012" - starring a bunch of stars.... John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chitwetel Eiofor, Oliver Platt, Woody Harrelson (very funny and sort of made the film for me) Danny Glover ( a wonderful actor that was total underused and wasted) and a sort of bit part for George Segal. This was a too long movie with lots of pieces/stories strung together on nail biting explosions and packed with "close call " moments. With all that said - I really enjoyed it and for just CGI efforts alone they should get an award. So, for a total popcorn film and shear entertainment - not much story, or I should say not much of a believable story it is a winner. I did love how LA kind of slid into the Pacific - can't wait for that to happen!! :)

That's about it for today sports fans! Thanks again for your comments and kind emails!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. Dear sweet Edgar, I do so love reading your blog and getting to know you. And blue trees? Who couldn't want to read about a blue tree? It really funny, the song that is playing as I am reading this is Ronnie Milsap's "What a Difference You've Made in MY Life". I say you're blog makes a difference to those who read it . Deep breaths Rico, deep breaths!

  2. Ya know, those look an awful lot like the Lilac trees we had in my mom's backyard in MI when I was a kid. I am guessing Lilacs! They are misleading because they do look so blue, but are probably a violet color (with a blue hue).

  3. I'm with you and Sharlotte. If you called the evil emailer out, you would just be sinking down to their level. Rise above. I really enjoy visiting here with you Edgar.

  4. What a shame that someone sent a nasty email. I really don't understand people like that. It makes me sad to hear.

That blue tree is so cool! I do wonder what it is! As for 2012 (the movie), there's no way I'm seeing that. lol!

  5. I love the blue tree! Edgar, please know that we love you and it's terrible that someone would be mean.

On another note, this is my first time back in awhile. I used to leave comments here but haven't been blogging for awhile. I would like to invite you to visit my new blog.

  6. Edgar

It's a ceanothus - there are loads of different varieties - some just shrub size - but they can get really big.

  7. Here is a deep thought for you: Often you cannot change a person or situation, but you can change how you react to that person or situation. The high road is good. Besides, who are you going to listen to, that one negative person or the gazillion of us who love your blog?!

  8. I love your photo of the beautiful blue tree! Your photo would make a beautiful framed print Edgar. Such lovely colors.

Down with evil emailers! Some people just have nothing better to do.

  9. lol I agree the bottom of the ocean is the best place for L.A.--as long as this is after I move.

  10. I don't know what trees those are, at first glance I thought they were jacaranda trees, but I don't think so. At any rate, I love the picture of the green ivy in contrast to the blue flowers, very pretty! Hey, I don't want LA to fall off into the ocean, unless it cracks right before it gets to my house. Hahaha

  11. Edgar,
Your blog is the first one on my "must read" blog list. I have other that I enjoy a lot - Dooce, soulemama, PoseyGetsCozy, but no matter HOW busy I am, I always manage to read your blog - it's the one that I HAVE to read. I know I'm not the only one who gets worried when you don't write for a day or two. Your photos are beautiful, your stitching is exquisite, your movie reviews perceptive and the log of your "everyday" events totally fascinating. Thank you, Edgar, for all of the pleasure and inspiration that you give every day.

  12. Awww Edgar...that's just horrible...some people just have no respect for others! But, I agree with you, they aren't worth your time...and you have waaaaaaaaaay more of us who thoroughly enjoy you, Rico, and your wonderful blog!!

What a gorgeous tree...but, I'm clueless on what it could be??!! I do love the snaps you share with us though.

Loved, loved, loved 2012...and yes, it was not a believable story line, but the special effects were spectacular...and Woody was to this movie what Tom Arnold was to "True Lies", he absolutely stole the show!!

    HAPPY STITCHIN'

  13. I'd be more on Rico's side actually - Name n Shame them but then again I'd probably end up being named and shamed myself :S so perhaps not eh? Yeah best just ignore and move on.

  14. I love those trees! How gorgeous! And I think you did the right thing regarding the nasty e-mailer. Just brush them off! Rise above. :)

  15. love the blue tree and the gorgeous stumpy white ones in your last post. they are very pretty! i love seeing gorgeous trees, as we see more cactus here than anything. LOL

  16. I'd go for the "name and shame" approach too, but that usually ends with ME being more upset then the nasty person. And guess what...that's exactly what they wanted to happen. You seem to be handling it with grace and dignity. If they live close by you could always TP their house!

  17. What in the world could someone find bad about you to email you? You are the sweetest person and I love your blog! Your stories and pictures are so interesting! Just ignore them and hit 'delete'!!

  18. The flowers seem much too big for ceanothus, therefore I say jacaranda - native to South Africa, like many other SA plants, loves the Bay Area. Though it can take the heat and grows well here in Las Vegas.

Give Rico a big hug from all of us and tell him that you can delete a nastygram, but that person has to live with their nastiness 24/7.

  19. Ignore those awful e-mails..you are above such things..do not go down to their level!!! there are lots of sad people in the world with nothing better to do than to make other people miserable. I do not comment often, but I read every post here...I love the sunny pictures and the fab stitchiness that is Blacksheep's bit of the web. Besides, where else would be get blue trees????
(Cianthus by the way: I grow it next to yellow Broom...gorgeous!)
Chill Rico...I will pull an Angel card for you and send calming thoughts rofl!

  20. Recently I lost my whole favorites list. The blog I most missed and HAD to replace on the list pronto was yours!! Every time I read it, I enjoy it so. Love your stitching and everything else. I would love to have y'll for a next door neighbor! I recently got an anonymous hateful email regarding my son being on his high school color guard. Well, I had to take some (many) deep breaths and just let it go. Some people are just so ugly! I have to mention a funny - I was eating a cookie when you mentioned your dog's "cookie"!! OMG! I'm glad no one saw me almost spit cookie everywhere!! LOL! Well, take care.
    Hugs,
    Lisa

  23. It just shows your true character, that you rise above the nasty email and chose to ignore them. Wise choice! Why visit your blog (or any blog) if you don't like what you see? Makes no sense to me.
You know so many of us love you and enjoy your posts so much. Please remind Rico of that ;-)
The evil emailer is in the minority!

  25. Evil email? I just can't imagine why someone would do that to one of the nicest guys around, and a stitcher to boot! There just seems to be a lot of hatred and intolerance around lately. It scares me. I think it's best to rise above until it really starts to hurt someone. Your blog always cheers me up!

  26. Edgar, I'm enjoying your Spring pictures. You are much farther along than we are here in the midwest. No green is showing anywhere yet.

That is a beautiful blue tree, but I'm afraid I don't have a clue what it is...

    Thanks for sharing.

  32. Edgar, I am so sorry that anyone would write anything evil to you!! I absolutely love you and your blog - your're very inspirational. I usually just "lurk" here but when I saw that about the evil message you got, I just had to weigh in. Don't let it get you down - it only reveals what's in the writer's heart . . .
