A Few Weekend Shots.....

Gentle Friends, first thing I wanted to say is that I'll be posting the winner of the Gift-a-way in the morning. We had some technical difficulties over the weekend which has made me a day late, so sorry.
______________

We have been having such lovely weather this past month, you wouldn't even know it was January.  The days are bright and sunny, no rain and with the highs in the mid 70's all over the Bay area, it has tricked the flowers and trees to start budding out like it was Spring!

  and......

... I was walking in the Haight on Saturday and was knocked over with all the flowering trees, it's every where, even on our hill in Noe Valley, our sour cherry tree over the pool area has started popping out buds, and it's the latest blooming thing you ever saw!!  What I am thinking is we will eventually get some very cold weather at some point and it will be bad, damaging all these trees.  It will also damage the fruit crops and the fruit industry in the Joaquin Valley - the extra warm weather lately - coupled with the very dry winter will push fruit prices sky high this Spring and Summer......

I got a little stitching done this weekend and worked exclusively on my Colonial Gathering piece....

... it's a fun piece and I'll have it done in a day or two and then it will be on it's way to be finished up into a little pocket.
___________

That's about it for today sports fans - thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  3. Lovely photos of SF, Edgar. Hope the weather does not turn too cold. Those of us in the midwestern and eastern states are having enough cold for the whole country! Enjoy your beautiful weather and I'll enjoy it through your photos!
I love this sweet 'Colonial Gatherings' project. I'm not participating, but am enjoying seeing everyone's first project ... looks like a fun time!

  4. What beautiful flowering trees. It gives me hope that Spring will come again to the frozen Midwest. I hope you are wrong about a cold snap damaging the fruit and trees. We are still in the deep freeze here in the Midwest.

  7. Yes, I too have noticed around the Tri-Valley area that crab apple trees blooming. It does seem a little early for this kind of thing and I am worried that without much rain this winter it could hurt all of the trees and flowers as it get closer to the warmth of summer. It is hard to complain though, while the majority of the US is experience North Pole weather we are dealing with Global Warming :)
Take care...love your start on your Colonial Gathering piece.

  9. I know, it's crazy this weather we are getting. I worry so much about the drought. On the news down here in Southern California all they are talking about is the slight chance of rain we might get on Friday, as if that would do one single bit of good. I was looking yesterday to see if things are starting to blossom out here too.

  10. Trees in bloom always has a way of making the day just brighter doesn't it.

Dry here in Australia too, getting beyond desperate for many of our farmers and heat waves again in the lower third of the country (100+F)

    Love your stitching... Libbie :@

  12. So jealous! Dreadful weather here in central VA.
The first picture in your post reminds me of Goldie Hawn's apartment in Foul Play. I always thought she had the perfect single girl apartment in that movie. Kinda puts me in the mood to dig up the DVD and watch it.

  15. I will trade locations with you...please. I need to experience warmth! We are experiencing some of the coldest temps here in the Northeast. I love to ski but it has been too cold for me. When the temperatures are in the single digits and below, I stay inside!

    Nice start in Colonial Gathering.

  18. Oh thanks for a breath of spring. It gives me hope! We are currently sitting at 14 degrees. At least we have no snow. But the cold does bite. A good excuse to sit under a blanket and stitch!

  19. Gorgeous pics of the trees in blossom! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a cold spell will not damage the crops in your area.
I joined the Colonial Gatherings this year as well. Your first project looks fantastic so far. I don't have a sewing machine and will do the finishing stitching by hand. Hoping it will turn out "ok" - after all, they had no sewing machines in Colonial times, right? Looking forward to seeing your finish of the Colonial bag. Did you sign up for Prim collection as well?

  22. Hi Edgar,

I hope you and Rico are ok. I missed your usual post today. The trees are lovely.....I know you can't take credit for that but you surely can for the beautiful stitching. Your blog is the first one I look at each morning. Hope you are back soon.
