A "Cotton Bird" Pouch Finish

Gentle Friends, I went wandering back through my past posts a found that I had neglected to show you my finish "finish" of Cotton Bird - a kit from the Colonial Gathering Stitch Club.  The original kit instructions had us making a flat hanging piece, and although cute, wasn't what I wanted to do - so I put on the thinking cap drew a little sketch, popped sketch and stitched piece into the mail to Faye - finisher extraordinaire.

After deciphering my scribblings she worked her magic and I got back a super piece.........

... the pouch is totally perfect and square, my picture makes it look a bit wonky
- and here's the back with the flap opened.....

... I couldn't be happier!! It is a super piece that is getting lots of use and looks great in my stitching basket!!!  I do love that these little pieces are versatile and can be made into little treats other than what is called for!!!  I love the fabric Faye chose, it fits so well with the little stitching.

I received the last kit a good while back but have yet to start stitching - it is "suggested" to be made into a candle mat........ but is that what I want it to be????
Still mulling that one over in the old noggin.

..... this is were it was last night.......  and I got back the second stitching piece in the Colonial Gatherings Club.  They were designed by Tanya of Scarlet House, here are the finished pieces from Faye.....

....  a great little pyn pillow and matching fob. I attached a pair of my favorite scissors to the new fob.  Faye once again did what I know I would have botched up -

That's about it for today sports fans, short and sweet.  My new camera is coming today - or at least the tracking says it will arrive today - I can't wait!!  Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

A Colonial Gathering Stitchin' Finish

Gentle Friends, over the weekend I completed what I set out to complete, the most recent Colonial Gathering piece called "Cotton Bird."  There is a small mistake that in the finished photograph is one way and on the chart another, I catch it until after I had ironed the piece, as it was kind of a glaring blob of green......

.......it is the white cotton blossom in the upper vine, it is charted as a solid green diamond shape, and does stand out a bit.  I went back and frogged it out and re-stitched it in with the white and it does look much better.  It will be winging it's way to Faye for finishing in the next day or two.

That's about it for today sports fans, I hope everyone had a super 4th, and a great weekend!!!  More stitching tomorrow......

Just Outa da Hoop

Gentle Friends I finally finished up the Colonial Gathering pieces and it will be in the mail off for finishing this morning.  I am not sure why, but for some reason these particular pieces were just so long in stitching and it seemed I had problem after problem........  first, I had dog vs chart problems - after I got another chart I couldn't get the gumption up to even begin stitching  - then after I got going it seemed that the white stitching would never end - then when I wanted to get going on the fob part I had a problem finding my smallest hoop  - it was not with the others and I had to tear through pile after pile of stash and stuff eventually locating it in one of my silk stash bags - how it got there I'll never know..... so .......  here tis......

...  I have it on the backing fabric....  I am sure that Faye will work her usual miracle and they'll turn out just darling like the cover snap.  I also worked a bit on SMS, I'll show a snap of that tomorrow.

That's about it for today sports fans - thanks for stopping by do stop again!!

A Little Sitchin'

Gentle Friends, it was a nice long weekend... and although I did some laundry, vacuumed and went to the grocery store....  it felt like I was a total lay-about doing nothing..... and it was lovely!!  I did do a little stitching on a couple of things, two I can show you today.....

... after the craziness with the chart I finally got a start on the Colonial Gathering piece, not much but a beginning..... and ...

... I worked on the SMS some and it is still coming along nicely.

That's about it for today sports fans.... thanks for stopping by do stop again!!

The Completed Candle Pocket and a "Band" Update

Gentle friends the mail was "very, very , good " yesterday!!  I got back from Faye my completed Candle Pocket, the First Kit from the Colonial Gathering Club.  She did such a wonderful job in the finishing, I know I would have totally botched the whole thing.  Here's a snaperoo of my Pocket....

....I am so very pleased with the way it turned out, and again can't thank Faye enough for her superb job... she does lots of finishing and you can contact her through her blog Carolina Stitcher.  I would highly recommend her to anyone!!!!  Now, I can't wait for the next little project!!!!
______________

I finished up the next band on my "Winter Band Sampler"....  I also went back to using the recommended "Mustard Seed" floss.....

.... the colours are a bit off, well, quite a bit off, I jangled it about a bit in photoshop, but taking the picture at night with lamp light and flash sort of wreck the colours, but you get the idea.  The next band is composed of big, white snowflakes. It is the band I have been dreading as I really do not like stitching great amounts of white....... but I will push through.

That's about it for today sports fans, I'll not be posting tomorrow, I am taking the day off to go to the one of the first of the Winter/Spring Antique Shows that pop up here in Northern California.  It is a pretty big show with some good dealers so I am hoping it will be a good show!!

Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

... and We Have a Winner.... along with a Little Finish

Gentle Friends, I had every intention of posting yesterday but the computer had other ideas.... by the time it was up a going I was way behind, so I put off yesterday what I could do this morning.

The Hag Claw, with some help.....

... from some Who Hounds, pulled a name from the BoD.......

..... and that name is.......

..... Donna, from over at "Dirty Martini Queen's Musings"...... I've sent off an email to alert her and will get the chart out as soon as I get her snail mail address.  I wanted to thank everyone for taking time to enter and to mention I have another Gift-a-Way in the works so stay tuned!!
____________

I finished up the Colonial Gathering piece last night.....

... it was a fun little piece to work up and now I'll be popping it into the mail to Faye for finishing.... as I said to her... "I haven't a snowballs chance in hell, getting this thing finished up decently" and her skills are huge, so I'll trust it to a professional! I'll post a snap when it returns.

A Few Weekend Shots.....

Gentle Friends, first thing I wanted to say is that I'll be posting the winner of the Gift-a-way in the morning. We had some technical difficulties over the weekend which has made me a day late, so sorry.
______________

We have been having such lovely weather this past month, you wouldn't even know it was January.  The days are bright and sunny, no rain and with the highs in the mid 70's all over the Bay area, it has tricked the flowers and trees to start budding out like it was Spring!

  and......

... I was walking in the Haight on Saturday and was knocked over with all the flowering trees, it's every where, even on our hill in Noe Valley, our sour cherry tree over the pool area has started popping out buds, and it's the latest blooming thing you ever saw!!  What I am thinking is we will eventually get some very cold weather at some point and it will be bad, damaging all these trees.  It will also damage the fruit crops and the fruit industry in the Joaquin Valley - the extra warm weather lately - coupled with the very dry winter will push fruit prices sky high this Spring and Summer......

I got a little stitching done this weekend and worked exclusively on my Colonial Gathering piece....

... it's a fun piece and I'll have it done in a day or two and then it will be on it's way to be finished up into a little pocket.
