A Little Baking

Gentle Friends thank you all so much for your kind comments and emails about the Hallowe'en finish!! -and- the input about charting programs - I am mulling over all the information and will come to some sort of decision at some point soon....  I have a plan, really I do!!

I thought I would talk today about a couple of things I baked last weekend and then this weekend.

Last weekend I wanted to try a recipe I found over at Mennonite Girls Can Cook.  A great Blog run by a group of really wonderful gals!!!  I chose to try one of their more recent offerings
Poppy Seed Roll.   It is a tasty sweet bread with a nice poppy seed Filling.

... the recipe makes one pretty big loaf....

..... it sliced up nicely....

... and here it ready for serving.....  it was a treat and warmed up a bit in the nuculator hit the spot!!
___________

This weekend I made a  Honey Bun Cake from The Country Cook.  Brandie runs the Blog ans it is a great place for really fun recipes!!

I didn't realize I had used the same platter two weeks in a row, but them's the breaks!!  This cake is really very tasty when warmed up a bit also.

So there you go, two pretty easy treats to pull together.

That's about it for today sports fans.  Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  2. Both look delicious! I love the MGCC. I have both of their cookbooks and follow some of the girls' blogs. I must say their newest cookbook "Celebrations" is visually one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Plus it contains some really cool recipes! Have a great day...

  4. Now you've done it. Everytime I see poppy seed, I want Bobalky. It's a Slovak recipe of bread dough balls steamed in sweet poppy seeds. Maybe I can hold off and just make a poppy seed cake.
