Shores and Shoes

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends  - I do love Wednesdays...  half way to the weekend with only two days to go....not that there are any plans in the works - The Weather Folks on the TeeVee say that it is supposed to be a dry one but I will not hold my breath hoping for that... they are often wrong.  At the moment all I can think about is just getting up a little later, going out to breakfast, doing our little shopping thing and then sitting around.  Hopefully I can get the laundry done Thursday or Friday and the house work out of the way so that can come true.    Then to spend it with a lovely cup of coffee or tea... and something delicious from Dianda's on a plate... some stitching and a movie....  total heaven!!
____________

I finished up Block 10 on Shores  - and I actually got a half way decent snap...

Although not my favorite Block - it needed to get done for me to move on.  Here is an overall shot of the entire piece - its kinda wonky sorry...

I think I have narrowed down what I will stitch into Block 8 - now to see if I can squeeze the info in.
_____________

Last Friday I posted about my newest addition to the Chucks "heap" - and got quite a few emails and comment type questions about "just how many pairs of these things do I actually have?'  I thought  I would gather them together - usually they are just in a pile in the corner and I fish around to find a pair to wear in the mornings.. but, here they are all lined up like soldiers ....

Usually as I add a pair I throw a pair away - the one that gets the toss is the pair that is the most torn up and disreputable (usually those are the ones that are the most comfortable.....)   but, I threw out three really worn/torn out pairs just before Christmas so I didn't have any to pitch when my Nectarine ones came in.
_______________

That's about it for today sports fans - thanks again for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  11. Hi E! Long time lurker... I always LOVE your stitching! Today, though, I must say I think you need another new pair of Chucks. After all, you tossed three pairs and there is a lonely spot on the stairs. Make it an even dozen!

  12. And if you do buy another pair ... go for some more color ... all that black and grey looks a little sad next to the nectarine. I rather like the block of Shores that you just finished ... very autumnal in color and feel.

  13. Great progress on Shores Edgar. You will be done with it soon, only 2 blocks to go! (I'm going to ignore the fact that your recent block appears to have a snake on it - oh horrors! I don't do reptiles.)

Your shoes are a hoot...yeah I say get some more colors! I thought of you this week as I was watching a very old film "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" loaned to me by a friend. I enjoyed it.

  15. I love how Shores is coming along! And I laughed with all those shoes. If I can see correctly some pairs are exactly the same colour so I suppose when they are in a hip you just take whatever comes in hand. Have you ever put two different ones on?AriadnefromGreece!

  18. You're really on the home stretch with Shores, it's looking great!

The shoes - you're just like my husband. He's got quite a collection of Converse but only half are chucks, the other are the Jack Purcell. I can't figure out why he wants so many shoes without any padding. :-)

  23. I never noticed how much the houses in Shores really look like New England to me. It is looking great and I can't wait to see your finish. I like the splash of color with your shoes. Can't go wrong with basic black, but a little color sure perks things up!

  26. Like this block finish and the nectarine shoes, lil. CJ in Ok ;-)

  27. Congrats on your block finish! Shores is coming along quite nicely. There looks like there is quite a bit of solid stitching in some of those blocks which would explain why it takes a while to stitch one of these lovelies.
Love the shoe collection!! The tangerine pair are a wonderful addition. I've always preferred canvas runners but we were never allowed to wear them in the lab at work. You see, canvas shoes could soak up a spill if it occurred.

  28. Wow, and I always thought (was made to think?!) that women always splurge on shoes. Now I can bring them over to this post :d Makes me feel good, lol
