Some More Stitching and Weekend Snaps...

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends I was having a time with Blogger yesterday.  I sat down to get a post ready and was typing along and then tried to get a picture up - not working...  alrighty...  then I was just going to post a little "non photo" type thing - and again, no go....  alrighty....  then I just gave up.  I dug around in my albums some, deleted some photo's and then came back later in the day with the little post -  and now everything seems to be working fine.
______________

On Monday afternoon I got a phone call from the framers that the two piece I left were ready for pick up.  So after work I drove down to south city and got them  - and I am pretty happy overall with the way they turned out.  Here are some snaps of the pieces...

This is "ABC Hornbook" from The Primitive Needle, designer Lisa Roswell.  I started this just after her death - I really enjoyed the stitching and still feel the loss of such a talented person.  I am sorry for the craptastic picture, I just couldn't get a clear shot with no hot flash spot.  Here is a close up of the frame..

I liked the brushed and distressed elements of the frame and think it works well with the overall piece.

The other piece I had framed was this...

This is the "Mystery Sampler" from With thy Needle and Thread, designer Brenda Gervais.  I choose a plain oak frame for this and I am quite pleased with how it turned out.  I am planning on sending this to my Mom as it really "looks" like her style and is totally her colour scheme...  and her Birthday is coming up - so it all works out fine!  I actually took a few more pieces but with the selection of frames they had I couldn't find anything that I liked to go with what I had brought - so maybe next time.
______________

I am part of a stitching group "Friends Stitching Through the Seasons" and heard from my partner, Diane, that the package I sent her for Spring, had arrived - and I wanted to show the stitched piece I made and sent..

I made a box for this exchange - the stitched piece on top is called "Hip Hop" from Bent Creek.  I have had this chart for quite a while and just never had just the right time to stitch it up - this was the time to stitch it up and it turned out really cute!!   I sent along some extra treats and everything arrived and was well received.
_____________

I wanted to Post some of my weekend snaps ....

With all the storms pushing in from the NW - the ocean is just gorgeous!!!  I took this picture up by the Cliff House looking south.  Look over to the left and you can see a little windmill in the distance- that's were Queen Wilhelmina's Garden is.  Some more shots from the garden...

Those dark purple tulips were really lovely.  It was a beautifully bright sunny day - however the wind off the ocean was blowing a freezing gale from freaking Alaska - and so we were frozen solid by the time I wrapped up my picture taking.
____________

I made a super easy coffee cake on Sunday....

That recipe will go up in the morning.

I think that's about it for today sports fans.  I am way behind in my emails and things so please forgive some latish answering on my part!!  Let me leave you with a snap of our cute little Easter bowl..

A sweet gift from a dear friend. Mr Rabbit is just darling holding down those Reese's Pieces Pastel candy eggs - they are delicious!!!

Betty's Favorite Coffe Cake

This really delicious coffee cake comes from "Mennonite Girls Can Cook" - Blog.  A wonderful spot for some terrific recipes.  I am running short of time this morning so if you click HERE you will go directly to the recipe.
I only made two changes - one on purpose and one not so on purpose....  I added the frosting as I always think cake deserves some....  and the other one was by mistake.  Instead of splitting the cinnamon filling into two portions I poured all of it into the middle - I would not recommend doing this, not that it will not taste terrific, but that it makes the slices sort of break into two pieces - and it sort of sinks as it bakes.  Other than that this is a great, simple recipe.

 _________
Last night I stitched on my Challenge Sampler some and again changed some of the floss colours.  I had no idea that I would be so indecisive working on this thing.  Usually I make up my mind and go with it - good - bad or indifferent.  As my Pa would pontificate form his chair.... Sh-T or get off the pot!!  It makes me insane when people waffle back and forth over every little thing being indecisive that they paralyze their lives.  I am thinking I might just post a snap of it tomorrow.  If I am happy with the way it is coming along...we'll see.
__________

Not much else happening here  - the weather is cooling down and will continue to through the weekend.  I presume that means low 60's - high 50's, but you never know.  With the fog rolling in every evening it gets pretty cold pretty fast as the sun goes down.

A RAK, Some Satsh, A Finish and a Start

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends Friday passed and now I am back to my new computer on Monday morning.  Hoping that things go much smoother today and that I can actually function at a level higher than a saltine cracker!!
__________

Last week I was sent a really lovely RAK from another stitcher...

I had been looking at this chart for a long time - I do love a red bird - and you can't get more red-birdier than this wonderful sampler.  Included in the RAK was a wonderful Stitchville bag - Thank you so much Evie!!  Your kindness just made last week so nice!!!!  You gotta love her note card!!
__________

About 10 or so days ago 123 Stitch was having a sale on Christmas things- and since I was in the Holiday mood and I needed a couple of skeins of floss - I thought what the heck - and got a bit o' stash along with my few skeins of floss - I also picked up the newest Blackbird Loose Feathers  - Part I.  One of the pieces I got I have been circling for a few years like a drooling vulture -  the LK ABC's of Christmas.  I have resisted this piece because I just hated that it came pre-kitted.  I personally prefer to get just the chart as I will usually change up a colour or two.  Since i first saw it and was so stubborn about buying the kit -  I have searched all over the net to find just the chart, but they never come up. Since this was on sale I finally decided to break down and so I picked up the kit.  I also got a couple of PS charts to keep filling out the collection - and speaking of Prairie Schooler I saw that the newest 4 charts have been released - of course I really like them and will get them, but I do think that they are looking mighty familiar/similar to as some very recent past charts.....  makes me wonder??
__________

On Friday I finished up the Mystery Sampler - and it was a great piece to stitch!!  Here is the snap of my version....

With thy Needle and Thread - Birds of a Feather Mystery sampler
35dt WDW Confederate grey -
Using mostly the recommended flosses - except the grass I used GAST Dried Thyme, the alphabet I used GAST Kale (Limited Edition), the key I used GAST Grecian Gold.
__________

My new start is a small little sampler I have had in my stash for years.  The 12 Blessings of Christmas by Lizzie Kate.  I first saw these little Flip-its and had to have them,.  It is not so much that I am a fan of LZ but sometimes she puts out something that just hits a note with me and these did the trick!!  I have been meaning to stitch them up but just never got around to it - so Saturday afternoon I found a piece of 36ct creamy linen in the heap that the whole piece would fit, changed up some of the colours and made this little start.
__________

Not much else over the weekend, no sales only a little shopping at the Going out of Business sale that Borders is having.  I'll save that little tid-bit for tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by, do come again.

Some Stitching and a Tasty Stop

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends I fixed up the missing bits from "Blessings" - sometimes I just amaze myself with what a ding I can be.  I remember when I was stitching through this area that I should think of something to replace the initials or finish out the design, but I just stitched as charted and never thought about it again....  so here is a snap f the real finish - (and not my delusional one).....

Blackbird Designs "Blessings Be Thine"
Started 7/9 - Finished 7/15
stitched on BoF 32ct meadowlark
My Silk Conversion:
WDW Havana - Belle Soie Chocolate
GA Cranberry - Belle Soie Red Fox
GA Dried Thyme - Belle Soie Collard Greens
GA Oatmeal - Belle Soie Oatmeal Scone

I am still feeling the jig and really like this piece....
__________

I have also been working on the Third part of the  Mystery Sampler - Here is a snap...

I am stitching this on the recommended 35 ct WDW Confederate Grey linen - love it!! and using mostly the recommended floss choices.  I did have an issue with the grass floss choice (there was just too much of the same green) and changed that to GA Dried Thyme - to make it look more grassy  - and if you click of over to Myra's Blog she even changed the birds to cardinals - I am loving that !!!!  I love it so much I am getting the itch to frog out my blue birds and replace them with some red ones - a super de duper idea!!!!!!

I think I have settled on a colour change for the letters also - I have three skeins of a GA floss called "Kale."  It is a dark green Special Addition colour that I picked up a Needle in a Haystack a while back and I am thinking it will work a treat.......  but you never know.... there are some scrumptious greens out there and I have pulled a few others that might work.  I want to finish up the tree and third bird before I jump into the alphabet.
__________
We stopped off at our favorite little Panaderia in the Mission yesterday and picked up some treats for desert - I had my camera and took a couple of snaperoos...

It is called La Victoria Mexican Bakery and we enjoy stopping there.  They are really nice and I think it is family run. You can click HERE to see their web site.
__________

I was also going through and putting back some DVD's a found that I have quite a few duplicate titles - I am wondering what to do - do I sell them, trade them or just what???  I really do not need two copies of the same title and they do take up extra space on the shelves.  I wonder???
____________

There you sports fans - we are on the hump of the week, have a great Wednesday!!!

A Very Short Weekend

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends a chilly, damp Monday morning welcome to you all.  The weekend was grey and overcast without much sun at all - until yesterday afternoon -  late in the day when the fog broke and the city was flooded in bright warm sunshine.  After that 1/2 hour, the fog poured back in and it cooled off again.
__________

We did the usual things  - ran to some Estate sales, did some errands.  Went to dinner with friends.  I worked on some stitching and baked a coffee cake.  Again we were creatures of routine.
__________

Let me start off with the stitching - I finished up the mystery sampler - as far as I am going to finish it until I see the third and final part.  Here is a snap of  where it stands at the moment...

I am going to change the floss colour of the alphabet and I want to see what the rest of the piece looks like before I do.

Of course I had to stitch on something after I finished up the last little leaf - and instead of pulling out a WIP - I was feeling all Holiday and Christmassy - so I went and pulled a chart I have been wanting to do for the longest time.  BBD "Blessings be Thine."  I pulled the WDW & GA recommended floss and was not very happy with the colour choices - it might have been the dye lots or something but they just were not hitting me right.  So, I decided to convert the cotton for silks and went to the Belle Soie stash and pulled what I think are some really lovely flosses.  Here is the piece as it stands at the moment....

I am stitching it on a piece of 32 ct BoF Meadowlark - that is a bit more golden than the snap shows.  As with many of the BBD pieces this is on the smallish side and is working up very quickly.
_________

Saturday we went to three estate sales and found a few things.  Here are some snaps....

Although hard to tell, what you are looking are Queen sized quilts and pillow shams.  I got this snap from our balcony looking down to the lower inside atrium in our building.  For both quilts and shams I spent $10.  They are in excellent condition.  I have run them through the wash and now one is on the bed and the other folded up at the foot.  They are machine made and not very old, but for a ten spot how could I go wrong.  I also picked up these two things....

I found this early printing of "PoA" for a buck and the meat mallet was thrown in with the quilt purchase.  It always is nice when the folks running the sale like you.
_________

Saturday evening we went to dinner with some friends and had a great time.  We went to Puerto Alegre in the Mission district.

It is a place that we have wanted to get to for a long time and found it lots of fun and pretty tasty!!  I had the Quesadilla Suiza with grilled shrimp and Rico had Steak Fajitas.  Mindy and Tom both had combo plates that looked pretty delicious.  With an appetizer of Guacamole and a pitcher of strawberry margaritas the dinner was just superb!!  For desert we shared a plate of churros with chocolate dipping sauce.

(not a snap I took, but it looked just like this!!)
___________

Yesterday I whipped up a little coffee cake for today - called "Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake" - I found the recipe on The Country Cook.  Very easy to make and right tasty!!

I changed up the recipe a little - I'll post my version in the next day or two.
__________

That about wraps up the last couple of days.  Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments!!

Up and Running Again

Gentle readers and Dear Friends sorry for the blip in posting.  That little note I posted yesterday took about 45 mins to post - and I knew something was wrong.  I usually think it is me as computin' gadgets tend to not like me and will malfunction in a New York minute when I'm around.  I was gratified that others where experiencing problems and that it wasn't just me.  Not that I was going to post anything earth shattering, but I do enjoy posting something a little more interesting than - " It don't work and I can't fix it."
__________

The rains came on Tuesday and boy was it wet - like for the whole day - we had the second wettest July 28th on record.  I took a snap of the wet that sort of says "hey, it's raining, but we can sure use every drop." -

I pass this great old building everyday.  I love the way the flowered vine is so lush with the red flowers popping out all over.  The rain made it just glisten and washed the buildings of the accumulate dust and dirt.  That is one thing with SF - during the summer and fall this city gets mighty dusty, and dirty.  So the first rains of winter usually wash that all off and the city kind of gleams with a freshness that is very nice.  An odd little tidbit about this picture - the reflected roof you can see in the window on the right usually hosts naked tribal dancers.  You never know when they will break into dance and song, but most days you can see a handful of them gyrating to loud music in the all together and you get a real eye full!! Gotta love the city!!
__________

I have also been stitching away on the Mystery sampler - it is a really great little piece with just enough colour changes to keep it interesting....  here is a snap.....

I hope have the borders completed and get a start on Part II over the long weekend.
__________

Last night was "A Tribute to Scotland" on TCM and they showed a favorite flicker on mine - "Brigadoon" 1954 - starring Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse and Van Johnson.  A wonderful film made entirely on the sound stages of MGM, expertly directed by Vincent Minnelli.  This film is a top notch musical and wonderfully done - it is such a pleasure to see Cyd Charisse dancing and paired with Gene Kelly - its magic!!  Here is short clip from a number from the film - The Heather on the Hill -

Another film the Cyd is in that is often over looked is "It's Always Fair Weather" - 1955 - again her co-star is Gene Kelly.  Cyd does a great dance routine in a boxing gym with boxers and looks and dances terrifically!!!

Both films are winners and I would highly recommend them.

There you go sports fans.  I do thank you all for the kind comments and help with the "problem" yesterday!  Do stop by again.

Monday Morning Musings

Dear Friends we are together again..... we had a very low key weekend here in San Francisco. So low key I was in sweats most of it and loving every second!! I wanted to start off today by showing you the LF Mystery Sampler finish - I think it turned out very nice. There are a few changes - floss colours, additions and a few subtractions, but overall I am very happy. Here is a snap -

The only glaring thing missing are two letters - I guess them to be initials - on either side of the basket in the last panel. I already put my initials in the second panel and think it overkill to put them on again. I could put the date? What are your thoughts????

The weekend started off Friday evening IM'ing with Dale - we found that both of us were "broker than mules." Now just how broke is that you might ask - I haven't got a clue but I like the saying! The no funds coupled with the no estate or garage sales meant I was reduced to running errands on Saturday morning. Let me show you the gorgeous sky on Friday evening...looking north over Noe Valley...

The little light is a car cresting the hill of Castro Street as it descends into Now Valley. Now turning to the left we get a great view of....

of Sutro Tower being engulfed in the fog blanket of Summer. Saturday morning found the fog so thick you couldn't see down into Noe Valley at all. This burned off by noonish, but it is one of the nice things about the city. We ran errands - mostly shopping - and picked up these lovelies -

It is cherry season and they are simply delicious!!!! I really can not stand any "cherry flavoured" anything - it just makes me gag, but real fresh cherries are a weakness. They are super good this year and a treat for summer. We also got the car washed - now I could care less if the car ever got washed, but Rico likes a clean car and bitches if it isn't - so we got the car washed after having it pretty filthy for many months - you gotta give in sometimes!!!

Here is an updated snap of the pidgelettes -

They are both standing up and shuffling about - and they are getting to be pudgy little pidgelettes!! Their feathers are really coming thick but they are still very vulture-ugly and both have acquired the mama stink eye!

That's about it for the weekend - :)

Thanks you for stopping by and the sweet comments about dear little Aaliyah.

Take care,

Friday has come again....

Well, at least I got some stitching and a movie in last night - instead of just snoozing!! I just hate it when I waste an evening and nothing is accomplished!! I started another stitchity present - that should work up in the next week or so, but no snaps.

I don't think I mentioned it but as the pidglettes are getting bigger - mama pidge has gone and laid another egg in the second window box. Now, she made no nest or any preparations but just sort of squatted and out popped and egg in the window box. She has also worked up a major stink eye anytime we go in or out of the front door as it is less than 3 feet from her new egg on dirt situation. The other two have grown in some major feathers and sort of move around in that cramped little nest. I will get some snaps posted on Monday of our ever expanding aviary.

Last night the flicker was interesting "We Live Again" - 1934 starring Fredric March and Anna Sten. A Tsarist Russian love story taken from the novel "Resurrection" by Leo Tolstoy. Don't watch expecting "Dr. Zhivago" - this film sort of plodded along to a very predictable ending.

I did want to thank Bronny for the kind accolade for this blog!! It was very kind and I do appreciate it!!!

I had a couple of questions about the LF Mystery Sampler - the linen I am using is one I had that fit AND I liked the colour. It is LL Vintage Sand Dune, 32 ct. I would have really wanted to do this on 36ct but did not have a piece that fit and I wasn't willing to chop up a big piece. I don't know why but I am always so reticent to hack into a lovely big piece of linen. In fact I will get more linen cut specifically to fit before cutting up a big piece in my stash, is that a weirdness or what??? At some point I usually just give in - but I still hate doing it!! The other question was how big is the piece - now the linen is 18 x 27 - and there is a pretty generous space around the piece - I would think sitting here (and not having measured it like I should have) that it is about 15 x 23.

I wanted to let you go this week with a snap of sweet Aalyiah - Rico's Mom and entourage came to visit last weekend so I got some cute snappers of the baby......

There you go sports fans!! Have a great weekend - and remember same Bat time, same Bat channel next week!!!!

Mystery Bonus Sampler Update

I am glad that you all will enjoy the PinWheel recipe. It is so easy and goes together very fast.

Last night was a stitchity flickery evening - like I am gonna break my routine I so enjoy!! I finished up another Christmas present and am really excited about how it turned out. I shifted out most of the floss' after seeing another stitchers finish and her conversion. I will post it with the other presents right after Christmas - which is now getting closer - only 170 days away. I then picked up my BBD Bonus Mystery Sampler and got a pretty good start on the last panel. Here is a snap of where it stands now -

It is just bee-bopping along and shouldn't need too much more attention.

The flicker for evening was a favorite of mine. Usually I pop a DVD in or flip over to TCM. Well I did neither - the Peach was sleeping on my neck and was just way to settled for me to move her. I picked up the flipper and since we have Comcast (which I hate BTW) - I pulled up the on demand TCM to see what was available and this month they have "Goodbye Mr. Chips" playing. Not the goofy 1969 musical version but the award winning 1939 version. Starring Robert Donat - as Chips - who BTW beat out Clark Gable - playing Rhett Butler - for the Best Lead Actor Academy Award. If you have never seen this movie I would highly recommend it!!

There you go - short and sweet!! Thanks for stopping by - and the great comments - they were very thoughtful and made my morning!!!

A couple of nice Days

It was a lovely weekend here in SF. Both Saturday and Sunday where breezy, bright and cool. The weather really cooperated staying in the mid 70's with not a bit of fog yesterday. This week is supposed to be on the warmer side - getting into the low 80's. I spoke to my Mom yesterday and it was a blistering 100+ in Daytona Beach - and she wonders why I live here and not there????? :)

The weekend stitching was focused on Christmas things but I did get a move on the BBD Sampler - Here is a snap of the progress -

This piece is moving along nicely - with very few problems. I am now just starting the final panel and will have to make the decision about the basket that is the main feature. It calls for alternating squares of flax and another colour. Well, the dye lot of flax I have is so close to the linen colour I switched it out for another colour - Rain Shower - now do I want to have the basket with all that blue/grey??? too many decisions.

On Saturday Dale , Rico and I went out on our regular Estate/Garage Sale savaging - I really missed it the last couple of weekends. The haul was pretty good - Here is a snap of the stuff I picked up -

I found a couple more Christmas plates - 1966 and 1968. Now, I told myself that I was only buying any that where earlier than 1970 - and there they both where - and you just can't pas up spending $4 on two plates!! - But, I will still only buy earlier than 1970. :) I also found a beautiful Heisey "Greek Key" bread tray - pressed glass is not something I have ever "collected" but Greek Key is the exception. I also got a little coffee pot and a tack hammer for the kitchen. At one sale I picked up the DVD's for a $1 a piece - now you can't beat that price with a stick!!! But, all those things aside the gigantic deal of the day was.....

.....the Ott-Lite!!! I couldn't believe it - Rico saw it and asked me "Isn't this that light you wanted?' - I said "Yes" and reached for it when some female person grabbed it as she had just set it down. Then the story unfolds...... a few mins pass, and I am walking around the house just looking -then I go back into the living room and I see the lite just standing there next to the register..... I circle it like a vulture over road kill - and a few more mins pass. Dale is now checking out - then I check out with my hammer - and I get Dale to ask about the lamp - the guy running the sale says - "$20 - down to $12" - I say "SOLD." Hand the guy the cash and walk out with the Ott-Lite stand lamp I have wanted for a long time but didn't want to fork out the big bucks for!!!! I wasn't even sure that it worked, but when we got home I plugged that sucker in and I now have a super de duper lamp that throws off a great light for stitching!!! You just never know what you will find at these sales!!!!!

There where a bunch of flickers yesterday - One of them was "The Big Heat" - 1953 - starring Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame. A great Film Noir that moves along without ever letting up - either on snappy dialogue or acting. If you like a crime/drama film I would highly recommend this film.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Wednesday Stitching and a flick

Getting a late start this morning. Something is up with this computer and nothing, I mean nothing gets me going like a broken computer!!! It seems to be fine right now - let's hope it lasts!

Stitching last night was pretty abysmal as I only got a little bit done in the third part on the house. Here is a progress snap -

I am getting the white finished up and then it is only a few bits and on to the 4th part. This is stitching up really fast - but any enjoyable piece will be like that - When the piece is a drag every stitch is a labour of the needle. Thank goodness those projects a few and far between!! I saw that the next Loose Feathers chart is coming out "It's Berry Time" #37. You can see it at the BBD Blog. I will of course get the chart but wonder if I will ever stitch it up..... and I like the idea of the piece..... but I wonder??? What do you think?

The flicker last night was "Houdini" - 1953 - starring Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. This bio-pic is mostly a made up Hollywood story based here and there with some truth from Houdini's life. It is very glossy and a fun movie to see, but don't go looking for a real life story on film. Great sets and costumes and the story moves along briskly. Janet Leigh is really beautiful in this film.

A Lazy Butt Weekend

It was one great big lazy weekend. I did absolutely nothing I didn't want to do! Although the weather was beautiful - I didn't take advantage of any outside anything. I took a few naps, snuggled with the puppies in my chair, and ate crap for every meal - how is that for a great big lazy butt weekend!!!

I did do some stitching on the Mystery Sampler - this is a great stitchity piece and I am really enjoying it - Here is a snap of where I am - almost past the 1/2 way point....

It is such a joy to stitch as are all the BBD things I have worked - this will be the very first piece I am keeping for myself. I have stitched quite a few other things but have always given them away. I did have to change up the colour on the house as the called for floss melted into the fabric way too much - so I slapped in a whiter floss and am really happy with the results.

Don't forget the drawing tomorrow - for La-D-Da's - "Let Live" chart - I will announce the winner in the posting in the morning.

Well it is another busy day here - so I will let you go with a shorter post than normal - Was that a sigh of relief from blog-land??? :)

Hope you all had a wonderful nap filled weekend like I did!! Thanks for stopping by!!!!

The last few days......

Yesterday I got in to work at my usual "crack of jack" and found that two people had called out and so my early morning of posting and stuff was wrecked - and all I got to where some emails - and no post :(

So here goes the weekend stuff - no yard saleing as Dale's schedule has changed and he is doing some training - I think I was almost having withdrawals. Rico and I ran around doing some errands - While at the mall we stopped into Lupicia and check out the teas. I did pick up one I had seen before called Asia, but had never tried...

A really nice tea - here is a snap of the actual tea...

Just full of the bits a pieces that make it an unusual and tasty tea - I made a big pot of the stuff and it was quiet good. After a couple of mugs there was plenty left to try over ice and it held up really well. This is such a great store as they always have tastings going on and all the tea is so interesting!!

The stitching stuff was focused on exchanges - no snaps - and the Mystery Sampler I started last week - I do have a snap of that piece.... as it stands now....

It is just moving along. I always really enjoy BBD pieces.

There where some flickers also. Starting off with "Smilla's Sense of Snow" - 1997 - starring Julia Ormond - a thriller adventure film - not bad but certainly not the best. Ormond is excellent and very believable. I also saw "Malice in Wonderland" - 1985 starring Elizabeth Taylor and Jane Alexander. This was a made for TV movie that is pretty interesting as it tells the story of the rivalry between Hedda Hopper and Luella Parsons - sort of. Entertaining - and a light piece - there are way better Taylor movies so I wouldn't go out of your way to see it. Last night was Stanley Donen night and TCM. They showed some of his wonderful films - leading off the evening was "On the Town" - 1949 which he co-directed with Gene Kelly - This was followed by "Royal Wedding" - 1951 and the last one I watched was "Singing in the Rain" - 1952 - I know - how many times can I watch this flick - about a bazillion I would guess!!!!!! The night carried on with "7 Brides for 7 Brothers" - but it was getting late so I trotted on off to bed.

There you go sports fans!! Thanks for stopping by!

Sittin' on an Egg

Sometimes I just can't believe the titles I will put on this blog blog - as you all know I am a bird nut - and in one of Rico's flower boxes outside, we have a new feathered friend - a city chicken!! - here is a snap I took from our front door - I was getting the stink eye as we do whenever we walk past her and her nest/egg...

We have been watching as they - yes there are two of them roosting out there - built up the nest over the last couple of weeks - and now we have this single offering....

I took this on the way out this morning - I guess they were out pooping somewhere or on someone. :) I would have thought there would have been a couple of eggs but it is only a single.

Keeping with the theme of eggs - I watched "The Egg and I" - 1947 - starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurry. It was this feature film that the pair known as Ma and Pa Kettle where introduced. This pairing of Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride went on to star in 7 more Ma and Pa Kettle adventures - which are really fun flicks. These films have been put together into a two set collection -

On the stitching front - I started two things last night - another upcoming exchange piece and a sampler I am totally loving already. Even though I only have a tiny bit done can you guess what it is?.....

It is the BBD Loose Feather Mystery Sampler from last year - I love the colours, but I think I will need to change out one as it is way too close to the colour of the linen.

Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great weekend!

Take care,
