A Little Sumo Season

Gentle Friends, you may know or not about me that I can become obsessed with some things in my life.  One of these things is Sumo Citrus Season.  It's a short season from about mid-January to the first of April... that these delicious oranges are around.  I started stalking the produce at the two Safeways we go to and even the fruit vendor I get things from over in the Richmond District... well they came in this past week and we got some this morning...  here's a snap...

.. they are big and juicy and without seeds (usually)... a little pricey but so worth it!  Off to lunch at Patxi's Pizza with some friends today ... a super way to start off the weekend!

A Little Taxing

Gentle Friends, so my first day working at home and doing the Monday morning meeting via Skype is odd but more comfortable and between things, I'm polishing my silver so time is not wasted... and have a great old Doris Day film on the old boob tube...

Last week I stopped off at the tax guys office to pick up my taxes craps and since and I never go over to that side of town I rarely go into an antique collective over there. I made a stop after the tax guy and I found...

...this great demitasse c/s in the Gray's Pottery pattern I collect.  It's a pattern of luncheon china my grandmother had and I have been just filling it out...it dates back to between the wars and I really like it, but I rarely find it out here and usually just pick pieces of it on the Bay of evil or Etsy. I do love this purple lusterware with ships... I'm still stitching away and have started on the eyelet border around the over one saying, I like eyelet stitching as it is relaxing and very repetitive.

A Little Nuts

Gentle Friends, we had a lovely few days off!!  Not nearly enough, and now a distant memory.... but we did some fun things!! and over the next few days I will be bringing you quit a few snaps and a little commentary.....  

We started off the long weekend with a quick trip out to the Mall.   We needed some chicken from Trader Joe's for the Who Hounds and while we were out there I was going to get a new pair of shoes.  Macy's was having a sale and I had a coupon in my hot little hand!!....

 ...here they are, comfortable enough for the plane and dressy enough for when I need them to be.  I live in Chucks daily and have upwards of 25+ pairs of those, but occasionally I need something a bit more than a tennis shoe!!  On the way back to the car we stopped off in the food court for some dinner to go....  then we were walking past the Swarovski store and they had some sparklies in the window....

...  in a display case they had set up an Swarovski Elsa and Olaf from "Frozen" and along with them were some 2016 snowflake Christmas ornaments!!  Now I realize it is just March, but I know they will run out of these things by mid Summer - Usually they do come in until August, but I guess with the "Frozen" stuff, snowflakes sort of go...  so I picked up my annual ornament to add to the ever growing pile!!

A Little Chocolate

Gentle Friends, a little back story...one of Rico's many jobs where he works is to acquire corporate presents and things...after a bit of research into some high end chocolates here in the city he decided on a really nice one called Recchiuti Confections.  They have only two stores - one in Dog Patch (an  up and coming area in the City) and one at the Ferry Building... we chose...

 ... the Ferry Building... after finding parking we walked along the Embarcadero  

there were some great views of Bay Bridge and Treasure Island... the weather was really lovely as it was still a few hours before the rain started...

 .... inside the store the back wall is covered with drawings and descriptions of the chocolates they make....and in the front the glass topped counter ....

 has plates full of all the different chocolate pieces that were available on Saturday...the store is not big, but full of beautifully filled and beribboned boxes of all sorts of treats...

 ... one of the seasonal things that was in stock were the Key Lime Pears.  We got a dozen boxes of "Red Wine Pairing" chocolates and then it was my turn. 

 Now you know me - if I'm going to drag my cookies all they way downtown 

I'm gonna need some sort of treat!!!

I looked around and was going for the Key Lime pears but then spotted some Orange Peel, 

and I do love orange peel........

... so a box of the stuff came home with me!!  It is some really delicious stuff and I am savouring each piece!

The day After.....

Gentle Friends...  with my family in town, on Friday we decided to do some shopping and looking around down on Market Street.....  of course there were about a bazillion other people also looking around and shopping, but it is that time of year and there were all those sales going on.......

....  one of the places we hit was the Westfeild San Francisco Center and up on the 3rd or 4th floor was Santa himself......  I got the stink eye from the "Helper Elf" with Santa when I was trying to get a snaperoo,  but I just let it go and walked around a bit and got this shot.... the Westfeild was decorated and looked really festive , up under the Dome they were projecting snowflakes spinning and falling, none of the pictures I took really show it - you can click HERE and see last years snap of the Dome, this year the snowflakes filled each lunette and were spinning additionally there were pinpoint lights moving about like falling snow.......

... for lunch we headed to a favorite burger place....

... Rico and I had burgers and fries.....

....  this is a close up of the garlic fries, and they were really full of garlic!!  

They had decided to stay in an Hotel downtown and here are a couple of shots from the room.... 

.... here we are Saturday morning at breakfast.....  my Sister, Niece, the Rico-nator and BIL....  we were sitting upstairs at the Grove, a nice little cafe near the Hotel.

Tea Time

Gentle Friends, Saturday found us once again at Lovejoy's Tea Room.  We had made a date with some friends of ours and had another top notch super time!!  You can click HERE to read my earlier Lovejoy's Post..........

After tea we headed across the street to check out the Lovejoy's shop.... lots of fun stuff....

Eating and Shopping at Union Square

Gentle Friends... last Saturday we met up with some friends for lunch atop Macy's at "The Cheesecake Factory."   Not only to get together but to talk about their upcoming trip to Europe.  They have travelled extensively through Central and South America but have never been to Europe - and - they wanted to pick my brain for information.........

...... overlooking Union Square we had a table right up next to the edge.....  

we also had a dinning companion.....

... and here we all are playing tourist with the waiter taking our picture......  

and you know I'm going to take pictures of all the food.......

... I had their version of Shepard's Pie - very tasty!!

...... Rico had the Chinese chicken salad....

.... Mario had herb crusted salmon and shrimp scampi.....

.....  and Prisma had Spicy Cashew Chicken......  all the lunches were quite good!!!!

... since we were at the Cheesecake Factory, we wrapped up the meal sharing a piece of Red Velvet Cheesecake......  and yes, it was as good as it looks!!!

.....  I took this shot to show you what a narrow space the outside part of the restaurant is, they had the heaters going (the tall mushroom looking things) as it was cold and windy even with the sun shining....

......  and another shot looking down..... we left and went down through Macy's and....

... still set up in fine china was a display for Cinco de Mayo....  we were headed for the fancy dress department, Prisma needed a long fancy gown for an event they are going to....

..... there were lots of dresses some very pretty and some that had to have been made for total hoochies!!  It was a fun day and such a great place to see the center of the shopping area - we only had to wait about 30 minutes for the table, the wait is much longer for dinner.

Visiting Market Street

Gentle Friends, so sorry about the erratic Posts lately, but I tried to pre-schedule some of the pictures for Posts, before writing anything....  kinda dumb, but in my mind it seemed like a plan.  I thought I had put dates on the Posts further into the future so I could go back and write about the pictures - because what is a picture without and explanation..... but they popped up early so I deleted those Posts......... and here we are now........

I took Wednesday off before Thanksgiving, to run errands and just take a break before the long Holiday weekend - because I knew the long weekend was not going to be much of a break. 

One thing I wanted to do was to head downtown and stop at Lupicia.....

.... my Christmas tea place - I had gotten a call from them that the Holiday teas were in ...... and so Rico and I made a fun day out of it - starting off with breakfast a Red Cafe down in the Mission and then it was off to the mall - Westfield San Francisco Center....  they had decorated for the Holidays.......  but we headed for Lupicia first......

.... and they had plenty of tea for me to ogle and buy.....

... the annual Christmas bag...... 

..... probably my favorite tea they make, with hints of chocolate and spice and silver bits.... it is so Christmas it hurts!!

After Lupicia we walked around a bit and ended up under the great dome......

..... this is a tough picture to imagine but the snowflakes  are all moving and falling against the blue background it is just wonderful......  this area directly under the dome is now a fun restaurant and bar - the snow images morph and change to..... 

... a stained glass ceiling that sort of sparkles and shimmers - this really lovely space leads on to....

... and open area were Santa sits and visits with children, we were there much too early to see Santa -  he must have been off feeding his reindeer or polishing his sleigh.....

.....but his sitting area with the trees and chartreuse chair lend a very festive touch.....

 and behind this set up is.....

..... a large open decorated space, the hanging ornaments don't show as well in the picture as they do in real life, but they are really nice for large store decorations.

From the Mall we headed for the Flower Market.  It is one of the things we have done every year.  We go get flowers for the the Thanksgiving table and for around the house.......... we also get ideas for Christmas decorations.  I'll post about that tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!
