A Very "Thin" Weekend

Gentle Friends thank you so much for all the kind comments and emails about the photo of my mom in the last Post - the really meant a great deal to me!!
_______________

Over the weekend in addition to my Netflix and other Film distractions I hauled out my "Thin Man" DVD's.  The series features Nick and Nora Charles solving mysterious crimes and murders - they are played most excellently by William Powell and Myrna Loy.  The series consists of 6 films based on characters created by Dashiell Hammett - The first in the series "The Thin Man"  -  actually refers to the victim that Nick Charles is hired to find, but eventually becomes the moniker for the entire series.

"The Thin Man" - 1934

These are really fun films and although some of the gags tend to wear a bit thin towards the end of the series I still enjoy them.  They are all available on DVD.

That's about it for today sports fans, thanks for stopping by do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. One of my favorite series, you are right the stories do get a bit thin, but isn't Myrna Loy just lovely.

  2. How fun! I have the box set of these movies. And my little terrier mix mutt is named Asta. No one ever gets where his name is from.

Glad so see someone else loves these movies too.

  3. Thanks for posting this, Edgar! I've never seen any of these films, but have always wanted to check out Nick, Nora and Asta. I'll definitely need to check Netflix to see if they offer these classics.

  9. I think this is my most favorite classic movie series of all time - and there are quite a few. I really do need to get the DVD set so that I can watch them more often. Have a great week!

  11. These are my fall back movies if I just don't want to watch anything else. Sometimes its a toss up between The Thin Man Series or Charlie Chan movies.
