Gentle Friends, over the weekend I picked up a couple of pieces I had being framed.
Here are some snaps... first up...
... I chose a black old-fashioned looking frame for the piece, I liked the way it makes the crows sort of "pop." This was a fun stitch, as are all the BBD pieces I've ever worked on... some info I found on an older post about the piece... "Winter Wonderland" by BBD, stitched on a mystery piece of 36ct linen using mostly the called for floss - and between August and October 20014... the second piece.....
... this great Christmas alphabet is still one of my favorite pieces I've ever stitched. I chose a very plain, dark blue frame. Here is some info about the piece... "ABC Noel" by Les Ambrodales, stitched on a piece of 36ct LL Vintage Meadow Rue using the recommended DMC, stitched between October and December 2011. The one major thing I left off is a snowflake charm that came with the chart. It should be in the space between the L and the J. The charm is silver and I didn't really care for it, I tried it, and like it better off.

Beautiful stitching and framing, Edgar! Nice to get some Christmas framing done and up on the walls:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful job, I do like that Christmas Alphabet. I am very tempted to look for that pattern...I just went trough all my stash ( found two duplicate patterns) . I did an index card and filed alphabetically found I have ...109 in the stash. SO I guess I don't need to buy anymore...probably won't...unless...
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the Christmas Alphabet! I would hang that year-round. The Blackbird design one is so pretty, you chose the perfect frame. I'm so glad you posted the "after" pics. Now we just need to see your walls! lol Are they full of stitched pieces? (as I imagine they are) Do you do "groupings".....by designer, by subjects, by theme.....inquiring minds want to know. lol Or do you, like a great majority of stitchers give your pieces away? Whatever you do with them I think you are very talented and your stitching is beautiful. I love that you post your progress along the way. Whatever you are stitching on just comes to life before us (does that make sense to you). Anyway, good job Edgar!
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful! Great choice of frames too!
ReplyDeleteThe frames are just perfect for the designs, Edgar!
ReplyDeleteI love both these pieces but that Alphabet just speaks to me. I am not a fan of charms either Edgar. You can a great eye for the perfect frame as well. Isn't it just so great to see them framed and on display? Makes this stitcher's heart go pitter patter.
ReplyDeleteI love them both! The frames you chose are perfect.

ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog this whole time but don't remember these lovelies. I especially like the Christmas alphabet. The frame for the BBD is gorg.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching and framing! You're all set for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very nice. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteLove to see your stitcheries so beautiful. I stitch a little, but tend to bake and read more. I do very small projects. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing stitching framed up - thanks for sharing! These are two beautiful pieces. I too am curious to see how you display all your stitched pieces...plus all your antique finds. I imagine you must live in a grand house...
