Makin' Chocolate Chip Scones

Gentle Friends, Sunday afternoon I was trying to decide what to bake and then hit on the idea of "scones."  I've never tried to make them but have enjoyed them frequently...I did a little research and find that basically they are a couple of staple ingredients and not much to them...so I found a nice little recipe at King Arthur Flour for "Scone Nibbles" - chocolate chip glazed scones...

.....  I did change the recipe to the full bag (12oz) of mini chocolate chips, and upped the butter with to an additional 2 Tbls.

....  I liked the idea of a cooling off period before baking to solidify the butter.  I don't have a big freezer so I just sat the scones in the fridge for about 45 minutes.....

....  here they are cooling off......

.....  after dipping in the glaze a drying period -
I also left out a Tablespoon of water only using 6 instead of 7.....

......  and they were a total hit with a nice cuppa tea!!

  3. Mmmmm, lovely!

One of my favorite memories of Scotland is riding on the train, watching a little old lady pull a big thermos of tea out of her bag and pour a cup, then pull out two scones wrapped in well-used aluminum foil. She looked so happy munching her snack and drinking tea, so different than our lap-top computers, briefcases, and fast food!

  8. They look lovely Edgar, but I'm not sure I could call them scones. (We are somewhat purist about our scones in Cornwall, they are always plain)
