Mid Week Madness

Sounds kind of like an old fashioned white sale!! But, we do begin the slide to the weekend today.

Not much going on I can show about my stitching - as all of the needlework is for others at the moment so no snaps.

Last night the flicker was "Captain is a Lady" - 1940 - a B flick starring a bunch of character actors beginning with Charles Coburn and a bunch of ladies.... Beulah Bondi, Marjorie Main, Helen Westley, Billie Burke, Helen Broderick. A fluffy sentimental piece - at 65 mins a very quick watch.

Something interesting at our house - we have been chosen by the Nielsen Ratings people to keep a diary of our TV watching.

I got a phone call a month or so ago from the Nielsen people asking if we would participate and I agreed - so here we are adding our 2 cents to the ratings for the US. I will be interested to see at the end of the week how everything pans out. The downstairs TV will show a ton of movies, and lots of Food, History, Discovery and National Geographic channel watching.... and the upstairs TV will show tons of HBO, MTV, VH1 and any kind of odd and unusual medical procedure Rico can find to watch!!

That's about it for today!! Don't forget the Blogoversary Drawing - comment on Mondays post -

Thanks for stopping by - let's give a shout out to Rico's cousin Peanut - Howdy!!!!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. We did this once. It was kind of a pita to mark down what you watched, especially the channel surfing part (for some reason my nuclear family watched lots of parts of things)...Have fun!

  4. We did the Neilsen thingy a few months ago. My husband likes to "channel surf" so his was a little harder to keep track of (don't tell anyone, but we kinds fudged it..LOL).

Yesterday I watched, "Witness For the Prosecution" with Marlene Dietrich, Charles Laughton, and Tyrone Power. I've seen it a hundred times, but I always enjoy it.

    Have a great day :)

  5. Enjoy participating in Nielson! I think our household uses netflix on demand more than any shows.

  6. Howdy do, Peanut!

I would imagine that the Neilsen folks would be fascinated to read your movie reviews, Edgar! Don't you think you should have a syndicated column somewhere so that everybody can enjoy you, rather than just us chickens?

Yup, yet another Edie Beale reference with the chickens thing. Gotta' stop that eventually.

  7. My mom and dad were a Neilsen house. Of all people!! The two dullest TV-watchers on the face of the Earth. Whoever invented ESPN and on-demand Major League Baseball channels designed them specifically for my dad. My mom doesn't get much input on the TV choices.
Love how the alphabet sampler is coming along. I've collected all the charts so far but have yet to even start the darn thing. What color/type of threads are you using?

  8. We've done that before. Big headache to keep track of everything! Plus, they still cancelled my favorite shows...lol! We were selected again a year or so ago but passed on the honour!

  9. Didn't know they did that anymore--thought they put little chips in the boxes, you know? Enjoy the power!
