A 1/2 Way Decent Snap - finally!! And some Comments...

Well, I got home and trotted all over the house in natural daylight taking snaps of the La-D-Da piece and this is about the best of that bunch......

The natural light was pretty crappy yesterday since the fog was pouring over Twin Peaks and turning our world a nice gray colour - but you get the idea. I am really loving these pieces right now. The blank space on the lower left is where initials go but when I put them in they were so very big... I pulled them out and am not sure if I should put anything there??? I started another LDD last night after working on an exchange piece, but had so little done that it wasn't worth a snap.

Lets talk about comments today.... I love reading them and do appreciate you all for taking the time to "talk" to me!!

BeckyK - mentioned about "The Ten Commandments" - 1956 - one of my favorite movies - I just love those 50's over the top production pieces - everything is just magnificent!! I would love to have seen this at a Drive-In - how great would that be!!!

Suzie - mentioned two really great movies - "All That Heaven Allows" - 1955 - ... and "Magnificent Obsession" - 1954 - Both of these are Douglas Sirk pieces and really top notch flicks!!

Cathy - mentioned a great Doris Day film - "It Happened to Jane" - 1959 - one of the many Light and entertaining vehicles for Miss Day - I have seen it quite a few times and always enjoy the film.

Bronny - asked about the frog I got on Saturday - well I picked this one up because it was a deal I couldn't pass - I got a really big one a few weeks back and now use that one for my scissors. I don't collect them, but I see them so often at house sales...I just might!!

Glenna - asked about how long before my collecting would drive us to a bigger home - :) I think with all the bits and pieces I pick up and the junque that Rico drags home (notice how I wrote that!!) It may be sooner than later. We as in Dale, Rico and I talked about having a Garage Sale at some point...... that point is drawing near!! - We'll just have to wait and see - having a sale is such hard work!!

Thank you all for stopping by!! Do stop by again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. Love the La D Da!

I used to love going to auctions...it's so exciting but I tended to spend more than I intended. I still have stuff that I never sold (I was doing the ebay thing) so I think it will go in my garage sale next week. I never go to any sales now as I am trying to declutter. It must be so much fun to go "sale-ing" on the weekends though!

  2. I just love La D Da and this is wonderful! I love yard sales and such but DH hates to stop and always zooms by!

How is VOHRH coming along? I haven't seen you mention it since March!

  3. I am completely in love with this piece. The quote is so wonderful. You always manage to show things I haven't seen before.

Now, there are two things I must do--this, as well as that red fox bit of stitching. I don't even know what it is called!

  4. That La-d-Da looks beautiful. Often things stitched and shown on blogs are so much more gorgeous than on the package. Thank goodness for blogs!

I would love to see what your garage sale would look like. You guys pick up such interesting things!

  5. The LDD is beautiful Edgar. I would maybe try to live with it for a while before deciding if anything needs to go in the bottom corner.

  8. Love that La D Da piece! I can't wait until my dd is old enough to happily (and interestedly) traipse along behind me to estate sales and such... I'm sure you guys have a wonderful time discovering new little treasures every weekend!

  9. I love this La-D-Da, Edgar...the verse and the colors. One I will have to stitch soon. I think it looks just fine without anything in that bottom left corner.

I know what you mean about all of the stuff that invades our homes, that we just can't live without! But it is fun to collect and display, so I say forget the sale, they are way too much work. Course now I just moved last year, and had a sale, that took way too much time and energy and didn't get that much from it. I took a lot of things to the local thrift shop as a donation!

  10. Beautiful stitching, I love La-D-Da but I must've been asleep at the stitch because I've never seen this one before.

And while I know this is probably because of my life experience and most likely doesn't apply to you...

Don't let things run your life. Enjoy them, but don't let them dictate how you live.

  11. Love the La D Da piece Edgar - I think a little birdie with smaller initials might look good in the empty corner!

By the way great new specs!

  13. Beautiful piece!

Maybe instead of your initials, you could stitch your name in the left corner. I think the distribution of upper and lower case letters would look more balanced. But it looks good without any stitching there too.

  14. Flower Basket loks sopretty. I love the colors. Yes, it does need something in the other corner to off-set the year. Maybe you can find a smaller alphabet that is better suited to the size of the piece.
Would love to come to your yard sale!

  19. Beau-ti-ful!!!

I think the initials, the way it's charted, would look fine...balances out the other side. But if you don't like them so big....maybe small under the year???
La-D-Da's are great and I have so many waiting for me to get to them too:)
