Tryin' Some NEW Things....

Gentle Friends, you know me, or you know me through this Blog well enough to know that when something new appears in the store I certainly want to try it out....... well, walking around the old Safeway Saturday morning I saw there was a totally new OREO Thin.  I had yet to see the commercials that have inundated the TeeVee.....

I like Oreo's, and really prefer the cookie part to the white "Stuff."   So when I spied these suckers I tossed them in the basket.   Saturday afternoon I opened up the package.....
....got some of the cookies .....

... popped one in my gaping maw.....  and loved it!!  The perfect Oreo had been created!!  I love these things, totally crispy with only a hint of "stuff."  So, If you like the cookie part of the Oreo, then I am sure you'll like these cookies.

Yesterday after work on the way home I stopped off at Walgreen's and saw a display of the new flavoured Lay's chips.  I had seen the large bags of them at Safeway, but was leery of investing in a large bag of potentially inedible chips.  So I picked up two of the flavours I was most interested in trying out.......

.....  I was born and raised in the deep South, so I know what biscuits and gravy should taste like....  and was skeptical that a chip could carry off the flavour or even replicate the creamy goodness that is sausage gravy on a fluffy biscuit.......

...  I opened the bag and the took a whiff, they didn't smell bad, in fact there was a sort of spicy sent, then I tried one, then another ...... thought about it and tried another....  what they have going for in the taste department is reproducing the spicy flavour of the sausage, sage, cayenne, there might be some thyme, but the flavour notes of sausage defiantly - and really not too bad.

Next up was the Reuben chips.  Now, in my opinion the Reuben sandwich is probably one of the most delicious sandwiches on the planet!!

I was up for these to be good, and excited to try them......

I popped open the bag, took a whiff.....  I was hit in the nostril with an over whelming sour odor which I am guessing was to mimic the sauerkraut in the sandwich.  I tried one, then another, then another......  all I was getting was sauerkraut sour and not much else, not very good, IMHO.

Overall these flavoured chips that Lay's keeps introducing are fun to try, but a little on the silly side with very little staying power.  Give them a try and see what you think.

It's a Tuesday Post

Gentle Friends, what a creative and inspired Post Title??  There's not been too much going on here by the Bay recently, still working on my Exchange.  I made a gigantic switch in projects for the Exchange piece and have been stitching like crazy to meet the mail date, which I'll probably not make.  But, the piece sent I will be so much happier with.

Since I can't show you stitching I'll show drinks......

.... a few weeks ago we picked up one of these coffee drink things at the store, they were an introductory "sale" price and so why not.  They ended up being quite tasty, and now we get one just about every time we shop.  Here, as in many places, you can't swing a cat by the tail (not that you should swing a cat by tail) without hitting a coffee shop, they are everywhere, on every corner and then some.  But, sometimes it just isn't convenient to make oneself presentable and trudge out and find a coffee drink.  It is much nicer to just open the fridge up and get your coffee drink at home while looking like an unkempt shulb in sweats.

.... and some eats........

..... yesterday Rico's company had an annual Golf Tournament down in Millbrea.... and we all know what's in Millbrea.....  The Millbrea Pancake House (HERE's the Post about the MPH from back in February).  I had to drive down and pick him up after I got off work and instead of coming home and making dinner we stopped there and I of course had breakfast while Rico had a burger and fries......  a tasty dinner for sure!!
_____________

That's about it for today sports fans - and just a heads up, this is a short week for me as I took off Friday to make a 4 Day weekend of being lazy around the house - no plans, no worries, no shaving!!  So by the end of the four days I'll be mighty scruffy!!  Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,

Eatin' My Way Through the Weekend......(Photo Heavy)

Gentle Friends I thought with today being "Hump Day" and all us happy camel types looking forward to the weekend, that I would gather all the foodie snaps and do one big "Eatin' Post."  So, with that being said, here are the snaps of some yummy type food......!!

Lets start with some Fair Food - and I am always stunned by "Giant Turkey Legs" on the grill - a staple for Fairs be they Street, County or State, you see grills set up roasting these legs.   They smelled great and I saw lots of them being carried around and eaten by Fair goers.

Another staple of the Fair are candy apples and this case epitomised that genre....

For dinner I chose to have some Fish and Chips, well, Fish and hush puppies, I do love a good hush puppy....

... here's my dinner with a sweet tea, when I ordered it I asked about the "puppies"  "do they have onion in them?" ... and she looked at me oddly, and then turned to the fry-guy who assured me they did.  Now, for me a hush puppy without onion is just fried corn-dough, and not worth my time, its that slight tang of the onion that pushes it over the top and into the sphere of deliciousness!!

For lunch Saturday my sister really wanted me to go to Killer Burger - a locally family owned chain of burger places.  Let me tell you, they were some killer burgers!!!!!

I got the "Old School" burger, and asked for it rare (it can never be too rare for me) and it was grilled to perfection!!  At Killer Burger, you always get fries and every burger comes with bacon - WooHoo!!!!

My sister got the "Peanut-Butter-Pickle-Bacon Burger and fries.....

... and my BIL got the "Classic" but made it a Fatty by adding a second burger patty.  I would highly recommend this place if you are near one and make a point of visiting if you are going to be in or around Portland, or Vancouver, WA.

Sunday morning we headed out to breakfast to "The Original Hotcake and Steak House" - a place I had been to before and really enjoyed - it's a great breakfast and a fun place to go!!

I got a favorite of mine - a waffle, the skinny crispy kind - and a side of sausage links - I do love me a good piece of sausage!!

My sister got cakes and eggs with a side of bacon.....

... and BIL got steak and eggs with a side of cakes, this comes with a bowl of sausage gravy you can just see in the lower left corner for the steak.  The kids got omelets (no snap).

There you go all the food in one posting - there are still some more Fair shots and Vancouver shots for tomorrow and I'll be wrapping it up on Friday with a progress snap of LK "Hallowe'en Mystery" piece - I didn't do much stitching over the weekend.  I had my stitching all ready to go and then  fell asleep waiting for my plane, and the on the plane, both coming and going - they were some nice naps, but not much action.

Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
