Gentle Friends, I've finished up Little Sheep Virtues, with my own twist to the center square...
here's a snaperoo... sorry about the snap the color is off towards the bottom of the piece...
"Little Sheep Virtues" by Little House Needleworks and
"Sheep in the Meadow" by Country Cottage Needleworks - 2/11/2018 - 4/7/2018
36ct Lakeside Lines Vintage Sand Dune - using my overdyed floss conversion
... you can see I've changed up the center square quite a bit. The house is now blue ( GAST "Barn Grey" and GAST "Freedom") and the grass I stitched lighter (CC "Weeping Willow) The major change I made was to do away with all the oversized "daisy " type flowers and make the meadow more "sheepy" with the addition of three extra sheep. Overall I'm pretty happy with the results...

I already had another project ready to go when LSV wrapped up... "Hannah Beeby 1816" a reproduction Quaker sampler by Timeless Designs... and here's where I am at the moment...
...I switched out the recommended Splendor silk for Gloriana silks "Seaweed" and "Antique Gold Dark" I am stitching this on a piece of 36ct "vintage" linen that was in my stash and is nameless...

Great finish, Edgar. I love all the sheep in this pattern and the middle square looks great with the border blocks. And... great start! I'm eager to follow your progress on this project. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteJust a fabulous finish♥️ Congratulations! Lovely start on your new choice...here’s to a wonderful Monday 🌷
ReplyDeleteWow, I can smell your smoking needles from here! LSV is just stunning. Yep, I'm going to stitch all of that one day after I gather all the charts and supplies together. Nice start on the new project. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!! I am always anxious to see your blog and what you have accomplished in such a short time. You are so talented. Do you design your own patterns as well? Also, you tend to use different brands of threads. Do you have a favorite or at least a preference?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the absolutely gorgeous finish Edgar. You are so gifted.

Edgar, I absolutely love your finish. I love the sheep. I've done several of them individually. I love them all together. Wish I could say that perhaps I'll do it one day, but I don't think so. I enjoyed yours. You are a fast stitcher. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is Donna, from Streamwood, IL, who was so lucky to have won your anniversary drawing last year!! Loved the Philz coffee, and have ordered more, for myself, and my kids!!
I continue to enjoy your blog. Love your 'finds' at the resale shops.
You are "pretty happy " with the finish, wow is is beautiful. Love the changes too.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. Where eon earth do you put all of your stitching? Do you hang it in rotation to give them all chance to be out occasionally? x

ReplyDeleteAw, come on, you have an embroidery machine hidden somewhere... speedy Edgar, indeed. The finished piece is exquisite, all the more
ReplyDeleteso because of your color changes and design improvisations... so peaceful and mellow... I am gathering this one to eventually do (when
the George Washington panel is finished) You are such an inspiration.
What a fun piece along with the choice for the middle! Love to see how you finish it.

Catherine
absolutely terrific - it looks so good!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't let us down Edgar...it's as beautiful as expected it would be. I'm not familiar with your next start...I'll have to look it up. Your needles are smokin"! Does Rico ever stitch...even just a little? I can't imagine being around you and not being tempted to pick up a needle. I look at several blogs and your header is one of the prettiest I've seen. Looking forward to seeing Hannah Beeby come to life. I love samplers, my friend not so much. She says she knows her alphabet. lol Granny always said that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. We don't all like the same thing. Sheep Virtues is a beautiful piece......when's the drawing? lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific modification to this chart, Edgar! Love your creative vision on this one. I so enjoy reading your blog. A+!
ReplyDeleteEdgar, Little Sheep Virtues with your "twist" center is amazing. I love the whole concept. Beautifully stitched as always.
ReplyDeleteThe sheep virtues look fabulous! Love what you did with the center! Congratulations on the fantastic finish.
ReplyDeleteI’m so far behind my reader I almost missed your finish! Spectacular sheep, Edgar! I love how you designed the layout with each sheep singing a song of Peace or Wisdom. It’s just lovely. Congratulations!
