Gentle Friends thank you so much for your kind comments about "Merry and Bright." I started in on a little Christmas piece I had already kitted up.......
... it's called "J'arrive" and is from Tournicoton. I saw this a few months ago and immediately wanted to stitch it up, it is a bit more "cartoony" than things I usually do, but that doesn't worry me a bit, the French directions, that's another story, I have figured out all the different specialty stitches and where the beads and bits all go - so I'll stitch along and I am sure it will turn out fine. The crazy linen is Silkweavers "Ametrine," it is the called for linen, and not from my stash...... my stash linen leans more towards the beige, brown, grey, did I mention beige..... not purple splotchy and gold..... I wanted to stitch something that was more out of my comfort zone, and this great little piece fit the bill......

Love the new piece. I think we should occasionally stitch something different. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
ReplyDeleteEdgar, Happy Thanksgiving to you also! It will be here soon.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun to see your new start progress.
A Happy, safe and healthy Thanksgiving. I'm using Ametrine on a Christmas piece also. It doesn't scream Christmas and not not something I would have picked for a Santa but I saw it as a model and it was perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing more of J'arrive.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Thanksgiving. Hope this will be a relaxing few days for both of you :)
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Rico, and the pups!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a good idea to venture beyond one's comfort zone every so often ... make's for an interesting life! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYour new start looks fun.....the fabric is wild and wonderful! It goes well with the whimisical style of reindeer.

LOVE it, the fabric is wonderful. I always want to buy pieces of funky fabric, but it's not cheap for just stash. I usually only buy when it's called for.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Edgar! I stumbled into a little chocolate shop on 24th on Sunday and remembered that that was the shop you talked about! I treated myself to a couple of bars I can't wait to try. Great new stitchy start!
ReplyDeleteIt should be a fun ( different ) piece to stitch, French instructions you are a brave man! Happy Thanksgiving to you both and the hounds too.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours (and the little adorable fur babies, too).
ReplyDeleteLove that deer, he seems so cheerful. Looking forward to watching your progress on this one.
Blessings always
I stitched this piece a while ago and just love it. I was surprised at how well I translated the directions as well. Thankful for the internet. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow perfect is that linen for the piece? Love it, and think you will, too. Hope your Thanksgiving was great!
ReplyDeleteCute! I have one of their designs and I made my best friend, who is fluent in French translate for me. Was great fun as he admitted they never had a "Embroidery Stitches" lesson in school. I knew I could figure out most of the important stuff myself, but it was entertaining for me to listen as he was translating too.
