Plates and Samplers

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends thank you so much for your kind comments regarding yesterdays post.  I do enjoy and appreciate them all!!  If all my plans keep on track ATS will be my big "finish" for the year.  Since I have been working on it for quite a while I think it is time to have it completed - it might not get framed for a while - being so big it's gonna take some big bucks to get her on the wall.
____________

I had a question a long while back about what I do with the bits and pieces I pick up on the weekend - and it has simmering around on the back burner for a while - on the way home yesterday we stopped off a Cliff's (an old fashioned type hardware store) and in picking up some things I needed around the house I picked up a plate hanger...  you see where this is going.....

I acquired a reticulated (pierced border) plate a few weeks ago to balance one I already had and finally got it up on the wall.  Here is a snap....

I always had in mind this set up and just waited until I found the second plate.  Here is a snap of the wall looking towards our front door....

I do like the way it all looks together.  I don't like the white walls, but I rent and so white they stay.
_______________

There you go sports fans - thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. Your sampler+plates wall looks just great! I hope, I'll have a wall of samplers (without plates cause I don't have any ;")) one day in the future, too... Samplers make houses cosy, I think

  2. Your decorating looks great! I have always loved plates on the wall! It is a great way to use odd plates that maybe you wouldn't use at place settings. I have several built-ins and pieces of furniture with shelving and I also put plates on easels in the background, with shorter things sitting in front of them.
Your stitching is beautiful, too! I am eager to see your finished ATS! The colors in it are so pretty! I'd love to stitch it myself, but I'm afraid I wouldn't stay with it to get it finished!
I enjoy all your lovely decorating photos--the next time you are in MS, stop by and help me fix my house!! HA

  3. Oh wow! I love your wall! Now see, you're like my mom. You can have something in mind, and wait until you find the perfect match to something in that plan, and then do it! I'm so impatient, I need to do it now. lol! Love all your plates, and of course, love the stitched pieces too!

  4. Your wall is wonderful Edgar! I love the beautiful Quaker sampler in the center. It looks fabulous with the smaller samplers and the plates.
You ATS is amazing as well! Wow, I'm so impressed that you have so much done on it. You have been making wonderful, steady progress. I'm afraid it will take me 10 years to finish that sampler, so in the drawer it sits. You're giving me hope that it can be done sooner if one puts their mind to it!
Hope all is going well! I was in your neck of the woods on Monday. We went to the Redwoods, but flew out of Oakland instead of San Fran. I looked across the Bay and waved at you! Hugz to you my friend.

    1. Hi Mary - your comments are set at no-reply so I'll answer you here - I do love Quimper and see it all the time at House and Estate sales... but I stick to collecting transfer-ware as I only have so much room. :)

  10. What a lovely collection. I really love how you framed the sampler between the two plates with all the linen as a border.

  11. The decorating books often say that white walls are best for showing off all your beautiful things. I think that is true for your home Edgar.
