Halloween Exchange arrives -

Yesterday a package from the UK arrived and it was the Halloween Exchange from the SBEBB - my partner was Chris and she did and absolute bang up job with everything!!
Here is a snap of the exchange -

The entire package was super - Chris stitched the Witches feet - I have this pattern somewhere in my stash, and have seen quite a few renditions on differnt Blogs - I really wanted to stitch it up - but tempus fugit - and now I have this wonderful hanging piece - it is hard to tell but this is a hanging piece - and as the cording for hanging is black and you really can't see it in this snap - in fact I hung it up when I got home and it looks really cute!!!!
The finishing extras will come in handy - Thank you so much Chris!!!!!

I worked on exchange stitching last night and will be exchange stitching exclusively for the next few days as I want to get ahead on my exchanges so that I can start in on my MM&I piece. I am waiting to start the MM&I beacuse I won some really expensive OOP charts on eBay and now sit waiting for them to arrive. I am just amazed at how much some of those PS charts go for - but when I want/need... gotta have - I am really gonna have to spend!!!! I shifted my idea from a winter piece to a Fall/Autumnal piece so I am rethinking some of the ideas - I already know what the border will look like. It is the arrangement of the middle ground that I am working on - trying to fit in all that I want to get in that square without making it a tablecloth sized piece to stitch!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!! Have a great weekend!!!!

Take care,

Visiting Frida

Yesterday after work I met up with Rico in the Yerba Buena Gardens because we were eventually going to get up with Dale and go to the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) to see the blockbuster show "Frida Kahlo." This stupendous show was has been at the top of my list of things to see all summer and it is closing on September 28th so we had to get to it sooner than later.

The Yerba Buena Gardens are a true oasis in the middle of the city with a gigantic waterfall -

that you can even walk under -

These gardens connect the Metreon with the MOMA

so walking over to the museum is a really nice experience.

The show at the museum was just wonderful - SF is the only North American venue for these paintings so the museum has been packed all the time. You have to get timed tickets for entry and everything. I have a friend who works there and so found out when the best times to go where - after 2PM and before 5:30Pm - which means after the bus tours leave and before those getting out of work get a chance - since both Rico and I get out at 3 and Dale was off it was very easy to arrange meeting around 4:30. There were very few people in the exhibition so it was truly a wonderful experience to be able to see the works. Not like the Monet show we went to the was just packed and it was terribly hard to just push through. I think the nicest thing about seeing the original paintings is that you really see the actual size and colours of each work. If you get the chance and are in the city before the 28th try and get to this show - it is very rare for her work to come together in any large numbers so it was a real treat - The only very minor negative would have to be the way some of the paintings were framed so don't get me started on the framing - just some god awful frames and really ugly linen mats - but I wasn't there to see the frames!

After the show we went over to Chevy's and had dinner - after we finally got home - I was a total lump and only obsessed more on the MMIRR and the border..... and worked on some of the verse that I am including withing the piece. Not a bit of stitching did I do - so no snaps - I know that the needle roll I made for Brigitte has made it to Gaby and is being forwarded to Brigitte so I will post a snap of that when I know that Brigitte has received the piece.

Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great weekend - I sure will!!!!!!!!

Working in the woodland -

Since I am so at a loose end about what to work on stitching wise - I joined Vonna's super MMIRR - and have totally obsessed about it for the past few days. To the point of having it all over my desk at work - now that is bad!! I think I have come up with the basic idea - "Winter Woodland" and since I like to work within very defined borders (color within the lines kind of crazy!!) I have been working out what would be a nice border. I also like repetitiveness so I have taken a bit piece from PS Winter Samplers and expanded it into a border of pine cones. The corners will all terminate with a square from PS's Button up.
Here is the rough sketch of the layout -

and here is a snap of a piece of the border and the squares -

I am not sure yet if the top bar will be the same as the other three - I am still working on that. I had so many ideas about this project that it was turning into the size of a tablecloth.

I worked on an exchange last night so no snap of that - I also worked some on VoHRH and here is a snap how the sign is coming along -

I am almost there with this square and VoHRH will be half finished.

Thank you all for the kind words about Carol's RR - it was lots of fun to work on!!

Thanks also for stopping by, I really appreciate it!!!

Once again - Thank you all so much!!!

Thank you all for the wonderful things you had to say from yesterdays post!!! It is often hard to leave something you like but it wasn't going to get better - and I had been there over 5 years working part time - but now I look at it as just that much more free time to devote to my obsession - I mean hobby - this stitching stuff!!

I finished up Carol's RR for the Witching for Stitching Halloween RR. I am really happy with the way it turned out - as I like to think "It's just creepy enough!" Here is a snap -

I have also made a decision about my own re-stitch for the QFRR - and I think I am going to go with LL Vintage Lentil with Raisin Wine and Old Maid of the Soil. Here is a floss toss -

The other fabric - was just way to splotchy - I love those splotches but there is a limit and it was taking away from the really nice silk colours.

Yesterday the in the mail was a cornucopia of charts - I had won on eBay -
(like I need any more stash) Here is a snap -

Prairie Schooler is one of the designers I really like and am filling out my collection - Yes, I have a list of them that I still need - and in my complete obsession with Vonna's MM&IRR - I have started to settle my ideas into a form that I can work with - the bulk of the ideas are coming from PS but I also have some LHN, Workbasket, and others so nothing on paper yet, but I am getting there.

Last night while I was thinking about the MMIRR I sat down and picked up VoHRH and did a bit on that - some leaves and started on the sign -

There are two super exchanges coming up in November - do I dare join something else???? :)

Thanks for all the support and also thanks for stopping by!!!

Take care,

Resistance was futile!!!

I have thrown in with the "MM&IRR" that Vonna has set up. I spent a giant portion of the day yesterday sitting at my desk and sketching out ideas..... I think I have a grip on the overall theme - Winter/Christmas - that will give me a lot of avenues to work and pull together something that I'll like - I seem to have a lot of charts with a winter and Christmas feel to them. Now I need to solidify the plans .....
since I have nothing else to occupy my stitching time!! Ha - Ha - ha!!!

Last evening I worked on Carol's RR and I really like the way it is coming along
- kinda dark and creepy!! - here is a snap -

I am using WDW Caper as the secondary colour (one of my favs) and and GAST Black Coffee for the roof. This linen is just great and stitches a dream - I keep thinking of swirling foggy evenings the whole time I am working on it.

The flick last night was "Let's Make Love" - 1960 Just two years away from her death Marilyn Monroe stars in this light musical with Yves Montand. A nice movie - not the best and there are way worse films to watch but overall it is a nice piece of fluff and very watchable.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great Labor Day... I'll see you on Tuesday!!!

Take care,
