A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I've stitched a bit more on AaHRH, here's where it stands at the moment...

... finished up the yard and started on the house... and like the fence posts moving, I moved a window to make everything a bit more even and balanced.......
_______________

We went out and gathered up all the fruits for the cake over the weekend.  I ended up having to go to two different stores to get what I wanted.......

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I've finally finished up the second "square" of Autumn at hawk Run Hollow.....

... the only reason I can think of for taking so very loooong to get through this square is that it is probably my least favorite on the entire piece.  Whatever, it's behind me now and on to the next one.  I am taking a little break from AaHRH to work on an Exchange piece so there may be no stitchin' snaps for a bit.

Gentle Friends,  I've only worked on AHRH lately and then not too much.....  here's where it stands...

.... just plugging away at that barn......

Now, since my Birthday is coming up this Sunday, I thought I would have a little Birthday/ Hallowe'en Gift-a-way.  I've collected up a few fun things that are totally Hallowe'en related and if you'd like to have them gifted to you from me, then just post a little comment on this post only, and Sunday afternoon I'll have Ye Olde Hag Claw .....

....and the Who Hounds Draw a winner.  Just make sure I can contact you, there are so many folks that comment that are "no-reply" that if I'm unable to send you an email the Hag will have to draw another winner.  I'll be closing up the comments Friday afternoon, and having the drawing on Sunday.

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I've been working on a couple of pieces this past week.....

.... here's where I'm at on AaHRH and a piece for a Hallowe'en Exchange I can't show just yet.  This first house almost did me in - all the red/yellow/red/yellow bricks, but now they are done and only a few words a cat and a swing and it will be on to the next square......

A Little Stitchin'.... and a little Shakin'

Gentle Friends, since I finished up my "Animal Sampler" I dove back into the old WIP basket and I thought I would pull out "Sojourner."  BUt. I am really ion the mood to stitch Fall. the warm Autumnal colours are just calling my name, russet, gold, amber, deep ruby red orange....... then I cam across a piece I've not worked on in ages, probably years.......

...  "Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow"....  why this got pushed to the bottom of the pile I'm really not sure.  Sorry about the wrinkles, but you get the idea. It's a great looking sampler and now I'm totally motivated to stitch on this Fall monster.

When I sat down to work on the posting this morning we had one of our little quakes, and the whole building I'm in just sort of bumped then swayed quite a bit, and it's a pretty big building!!  It was a 4.1 quake out in the East Bay near a town called Piedmont.  This quake was much stronger than the one I felt last week when I was home and the townhouse just sort of bumped and jerked a bit.  Never a dull moment here by the Bay.  BTW there have been two more quakes near Piedmont just since I started writing that I did not feel one bit, a 1.7 and a 1.8.

Some Stitchin'

Gentle Friends a quick post today with a catch up snap of AaHRH....

I finished up the header and started stitching on the first Square - I am really liking the great fall colours!!   I would have gotten further along, but I started to work on an Exchange I have coming up towards the end of the month.  I will be working on the Exchange piece and putting AaHRH aside for a while.  Sorry about the wrinkles and the wonkiness, but it was late when I took the snap.

Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!

Weekend Finish and Autumnal Stitchin'

Gentle Friends sorry to not have posted yesterday, but I came back to a pile o'work and just dove into that....

It was a lovely looong weekend - the weather was just beautiful, bright, breezy and on the cool side until Sunday, it drizzled most of the day which carried over to Monday, which was alright.

I finished up the Christmas piece I have been working on,  what a super fun piece to work on - here's a snap -

Lizzie Kate "ABC's of Christmas"
36ct "Meadowlark" using the included floss
5/1 - 5/25

Although I really enjoyed this piece, I do have a couple of thoughts...  This would be a much nicer piece if there were a few more floss colours included, such as a gold or yellow, another shade of blue and another green would be nice.  Why this is a kit and not just a chart is beyond me, since I stitched this on a higher count linen I didn't need all the floss that came in the kit - and I already had the floss colours in my stash.  Overall it's a quick stitch and if and when i re-stitch it I will deal with the floss changes then.

After finishing up "ABC's" I was kind of at a loss as to what to pick up, so to the WIP basket I went and pulled out AaHRH - all I had completed was the border of the top section, I though I would work some on the Pumpkins.....  here's a snap...

Sorry about the wrinkles, but you get the idea.  This will be an ongoing BAP and I look forward to the stitching!!

I have a bunch more pictures to share from the weekend so stay tuned!!

Take care,
edgar

A Quiet Weekend and a New Start

Gentle Friends, well, we have arrived at 2013, and stretched out before us is a brand new year.  Although last was a less than stellar year for me, I am hoping that 2013 will be better.

At least on the stitching front things are good.  With two great SAL's out there - Santa's Village from CCN and the new "Little Sheep Virtue's" from LHN.  The first sheep "Hope" is super cute and I am sure that the rest of the flock will be also!!

On my own stitching front, I did not finish the grass on ATS, and I'm still stitching "Green Apple."  I am sure it will wrap up in the next week or so, so it will have to be a first finish for this year.

I did get my New Year piece going on January 1st, actually I worked on it all day.  I just couldn't get it to come out even and there was lots of frogs and restitching!!  Here's a snap of the start...

I am stitching "Autumn" on a piece of 36ct Light Vintage Sand from LL.  I am using the recommended NPI silks, as I did on the two previous HRH pieces I stitched.  I think, or hope that I can get this finished up be the end of the year and have Christmas at HRH as next years New Year Start.  I don't know why I was having so much trouble with this simple single stitched line, but, for some reason I just couldn't keep my count.....  it couldn't have been the "Downton Abbey" Marathon going on with my BluRay player?????

Yes, that is the quiet thing we did all weekend - watched the 1st and 2nd Seasons of DA - and now Rico is hooked!!!  We can't wait for the 3rd Season to start up this Sunday!!  And, we cant wait for the sparks to fly with Mrs. Levinson (Shirley McClain) coming over for Lady Mary's wedding.....

There will sparks a plenty between the two grandmothers!!!!
