Gentle Friends, it was a quiet weekend here by the Bay and a lovely Epiphany Sunday.....and for my "Little Christmas" present to myself, I finished up ......
... BBD "Christmas Garden" - Stitched on 36ct Navy Bean
_______________
It was a great piece to work on over the Christmas Holidays.... and as you can see I recharted the bottom. I've seen this sampler finished up as charted with the words "Christmas Garden" in the bottom, and with the bottom filled in with a super alphabet. I waffled back and forth with the idea of stitching the alphabet because I knew from the get-go I didn't want to stitch it as charted. Then I thought why not just cut it off and rework the border... et voila my solution. I also have not stitched in a bunch of initials, at this point I am leaning towards not, but you never know.....
I also reworked the colors from what was called for and here are the specific changes I made...
Charted - CC Calico Kitty - Changed to WDW Indian Summer ( a red I really love!!)
Charted - CC Fools Gold - Changed to WDW Schneckley
Charted GA Endive - Changed to GA Dried Thyme
Charted GA Heirloom Gold - Changed to WDW Havanna

Absolutely stunning. I hope you frame this one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish, Edgar! So... what's next?!
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, Edgar! I'm working on that too but just have 3/4 of the top done. I go back and forth on the bottom too, alphabet or Christmas Garden? I have a ways to go before I decide. Have a great week!
ReplyDeletestunning finish edgar, your simplistic bottom finish is yes another lovely option!
ReplyDeleteFabulous...just a stunning stitch♥️ Must get busy on mine after seeing yours completed, like your changes..have a delightful week!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful stitch, just perfect as it is!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your finish, Edgar! It is gorgeous. I like your color changes along with the change at the bottom of the sampler. I also think it looks super without the initials.
ReplyDeleteEdgar, it is gorgeous. You work so fast and yet your stitches are exquisite.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Your home must have an amazing collection of cross stitch art. x
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Edgar. So glad you enjoyed your Christmas Holiday.

A lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteI have this but don't have it kitted up. I like the colors you used and I like that you didn't stitch the words at the bottom. Very Pretty.
ReplyDeleteAlways a great finish. I am always changing words or leaving them off too. I am sure designers don't much care for this but...
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Edgar. I did the alphabet and never really thought about just stopping. I really like it that way. I never considered the words Christmas Garden. I thought that would be too limiting.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish Edgar! I completely agree - the words are unnecessary! Love your changes 💚
ReplyDeleteOh my Edgar, that is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have this but have not started it. I plan to leave off the bottom and probably do the alphabet. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Edgar! I love your colour choices and the bottom finish!
ReplyDeleteYour finish is striking....colors spot on .... Love the way you abbreviated the bottom to allow the rest of the design to stand on it's own. That simple course is how I want to do mine if I ever find the pattern....understand it is OOP. You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYour piece is beautiful! Thank you for sharing your color changes with us. I think your choices are deeper and prettier. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece! Great job Edgar! Love the changes - it turned out beautifully!

Congratulations Edgar on a beautiful finish! It took me so long to stitch this and you whipped it right up! Best wishes for a happy, healthy and peaceful new year.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Lancy
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely Blackbird design and Christmas piece. I had not been familiar with it until seeing your completed sampler. (I'm returning to cross stitching after being away from it awhile.) Now, I have looked everywhere and it is evidently out of print. Any chance you would be interested in selling your booklet? I understand if you do not, but thought I would try asking.
ReplyDeleteSincerely and thank you, T
