Gentle Friends, today would have been my parents 59th wedding anniversary. I thought I would share a couple of shots from their special day so many years ago.....
... this was taken just after the ceremony and before they left for the reception.....
... a picture I really like, they are leaving for the reception (the weird waviness is from the Wedding album pages) ..... and here's a shot from last Sunday, I had some flowers put on the alter in their memory....
... my Mom carried white orchids, tube roses and pink asters in her bouquet, and her favorite colour was pink, so I had a white a pink inspired arrangement made up, I think it turned out really nice.

Awww....how lovely :)I think so many of us don't appreciate our parents until we get older and they're no longer with us.

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Edgar! The poses for wedding photos in those days were so unique...my mom and dad's album has some similar shots(1959). The "going to the reception photo" near the car is almost exactly like the one in my family album.

What sweet family pictures! Your mom's dress was amazing!!!! I always love how full of hope bridal pictures are...two people who have no idea what life holds in the future before them, but ready to face it together! (Yea, I know, it doesn't always work out that way...but for that moment in time...what can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic shmushball. LOL) For your mom and dad, that included a lovely family. The flowers are such a sweet, beautiful tribute. I know that they're very touched at the memory.
