"Merry & Bright" Finish and Some Thrifty Finds

Gentle Friends with this being a very short week for me, only two days, I'm going to double up on my usual posting stuff...... Over the weekend I finished up a Christmas WIP from last year.......

.... "Merry & Bright" designed by Erynne Chard
Stitched on Silkweaver 32ct "Sudden Storm" using assorted flosses

You can click HERE to go to her Blog and the pattern.  It was a fun piece to work up and since it has sat in the WIP basket a year, it was about time I got it completed. I took the piece outside into the bright sunlight to get this snap and try and get a decent picture...
_______________

Saturday I also got to run around to the various Consignment/Thrift shops and found a few things......

From l to r and Fact based novel of the creation of "A Christmas Carol", "The Bucolic Plague" is Kilmer-Purcells' second memoir recounting the purchase of the 1802  Beekman Mansion and goat farm in Sharon Springs NY.  I picked up 3 DVD's, "Fathers little Dividend," "The Bell's of St Trinian's," and Cartoon networks Halloween Cartoons.  I also found a couple of nice pieces of cut glass, a small bright cut dish and a new (with the tags still on) Waterford Round Ring Holder.  A great piece I found was a mid 19th century brass candle stick, above is before polishing.......

.... and after polishing, I love the look of old brass, it has such a great warm glow about it.....

That's about it for today sports fans, thanks again for stopping by do stop again!!

"Merry and Bright" Stitchin'

Gentle Friends I din;t get nearly the amount of stitching done that I had planned, it just seemed that one thing safer another kept me from needle and floss..... but I did get some done and here's the little bit of progress I made......  it's another craptastique snaperoo.......

.....  this snap was taken last night and it was pitch dark outside and the flash makes the linen look totally off colour, I am thinking that it will never photograph correctly.  There won't be much stitching tonight as I have an Estate Workshop at my lawyers office and that will suck up about 3 or more hours.......

..... now it's just a matter of filling in the boxes and the candy canes along the outside and it'll be a done deal.

A MIA SAL that is once again a WIP

Gentle Friends after finishing up "Feasty" I wanted to move on to a Christmas piece and although I have a couple of things kitted up and ready to "hit the needle" I was not in the mood for something brand new, can you bleive that!!  So I dug around in the basket o'stitching and found a SAL piece I had started last year.  The piece got put to the side when things fell into a tailspin last Fall..........  so I pulled it out and found that it is still a great little piece to work on and with a great name....  "Merry and Bright".....  here's a less than great shot of where mine stands at the moment....

... the linen is called stormy sky or something like that and is way more blue than this picture lets on.  I have changed up most of the floss from the recommended list....  the chart can be found at "Stitcheree" and was designed by Erynne.  It's what is on the snap this weekend.

That about does it for the week sports fans, thanks for stopping by and for all your kind comments and emails!!  Have a super weekend!

Stitchin' Along

Gentle Friends I did want to thank you for all you kind comments - they do warm the heart!!!
_______

Not much going on here by the Bay - I am stitching on an exchange piece that will go out next week, so I have no a snap of that yet to show.

Something I can show that I am working ever so slowly is Erynne's "Merry and Bright" SAL.... and here's a snap of my tiny bit o'progress....

I am really enjoying this stitch, not only is the chart easy to follow and totally cute, but this Silkweaver linen is a dream to stitch on!!

Yesterday surfing around the Blog's I ran into another SAL headed up by The Thread Basket - the design is TourniCoton and is called "Charmant Joyeux Noel."  It is on the small side but looks to be a really fun piece to stitch.  Only 2 parts have been released so far.  I did a floss toss last night and here's what I came up with.....

The linen is a PTP piece of 32ct "Dill" - the called for linen is 32ct "Nougat" or "Cocoa."  This piece has a overall brownish cast to it, but I do like the incursions of green, and think it will add to the finished piece.  Although I pulled the recommend DMC Floss, I feel I may just have to switch them out for some delicious Belle Soie before starting to stitch...  wouldn't that be super!!

Some Weekend Stitching

Gentle Friends in addition to the usual weekend stuff - I got some stitching in....  here is a snap of the little bits I got done on ATS....

Since this last section is all over little bits and pieces I am just working my way to the bottom.
_______________

I also jumped in with a small start on "Merry and Bright" from Erynne.  I had the hardest time settling on a piece of linen - In fact I frogged quite a few stitches from other linen choices before going with Silkweavers "Sudden Storm"......  here's a pretty sad snap, the light was very bad and I just couldn't get it corrected...

I also changed up the floss' - I had all the recommended choices but as I started to stitch I felt I really needed to change some of them - I have dropped WDW Aqua completely as my skein looks "off" on this linen and will use only CC Tyler Boy Blue - My other changes are:

For CC Vintage Violet I'm using GAST Hyacinth
For DMC Ecru I'm using DMC B5200 White
I am using CC Jolly Holly and adding another shade of green, WDW Lucky
Keeping CC Cocoa Bean
For DMC 648 I'm using GAST Aged Pewter
Keeping DMC 543
For DMC 310 I'm using WDW Mascara
For CC Golden Star I'm using WDW Marigold
For Dmc 754 I'm using CC Pumpkin Harvest
and for DMC 301 I'm using GAST Gingersnap

That's how the floss is working for now, but as I go along I may just change and substitute other colours.

A Great SAL for Christmas!!!!

Gentle Friends I wanted to thank you all for your kind comments - as usual they are warm hugs on a cold and damp morning!!  I also wanted to welcome my new Followers and hope you find something interesting here on my little Blog - as always the more the merrier!!
_____________

Not too much going on here - it seems that every evening I find myself drifting off in my stitching chair and not getting much done in the way of stitching - although the little bits I am getting done are on ATS, I don't feel enough is stitched to warrant a snaperoo - if you can believe that!!  :)  So I'll post a snap next week after some progress is made this weekend.
_____________

I did want to mention on today post a wonderful Christmas SAL I bumped into surfing the Blogs yesterday.  Created by a very talented stitcher named Erynne over at Stitcheree! - it is called Merry and Bright and has totally sucked me in wanting to make a start!

Last night I even dug through the pile of frames I have and found a super silver leaf one that would fit this perfectly!!  So now, even though I have a pile of Holiday stitching I want to start and ATS  I am wanting to finish up by the end of the year.... I am thinking I will pull together the floss and linen and make a lovely start of this super piece!!
