A Little Finish and a Little Start.....

Gentle Friends, I finished up Little Birds at the end of last week... here's a snaperoo...

"Little Birds" Blackbird Designs
8/3/20 - 3/25/21
40ct PTP "Heartland" - Charted Floss

... you can see the fill between the houses is a garden of sorts.  I toggled back and forth between this idea or a bit from "Thank you, Sarah Tobias", from the needlebook bottom.  This bit I stitched is a recharting from "Their Song" Loose Feathers #24.  I only ever considered using a BBD design since I wanted to keep this totally inspired by or from BBD.  This is not "strict" stitching from "Their Song" more of inspired by, as most of the motifs are jangled about a bit and all are a recharting using the color palette from "Little Birds"  I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  I also got the date and my initials in there.  This will go into the stitched finished box as its a whopping 19 1/2 x 17 big and I've really not got that big of a space left on any wall to hang her up if I was to get her framed, but no matter I really enjoyed stitching this piece as I always do when I stitch a BBD design!!

I was thinking about what to start next a while back and then I saw a piece started by a dear friend of mine, Vonna of Twisted Sticher, of a piece she is stitching for Lent called Peaceful Paradise from Midsummer Night Designs... and I knew I wanted to stitch this also.  It's been lurking about in my stash since it was released back in 2007 and now is a good time as ever to make a go at stitchin' it up...
here's the start...

I'm stitching this on LL 40ct Pearled barley, it's far whiter than it looks in the snap, the picture makes it look pink and it really is not.  I'm also using the called for overdyed flosses.  I had the majority of them in the stash.  I've had to switch out some of the blacks but I'm OK with it and it'll look fine when it's done.

  1. You, dear Edgar, are the crowned prince of misnomers....A "little" finish???? At 19-1/2" x 17"??? Seriously??? Well, in any event, it IS seriously beautiful... Such a shame that it will be languishing in a box and not gracing your wall. I really love your little (or, shall we say "not-so-little"?) improvised garden. I am especially fond of that delightful tree...and the extra "little birds". ~Robin~

  5. What a superb finish .... Your "fill in" which could have been a heavy
theme, just floats in the space and your choices so well correspond to
the upper portion of the sampler. All this with a stitching metronome
at warp speed.....in lovely color. You inspire...

  9. Beautiful piece! Reminds me of a spectacular sampler style bag from the 1840s at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. Love the changes you made.
