A Post for Tuesday

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends thank you for the kind words about the Lizzie Kate piece - it was a fun piece to stitch and worked up very fast. Now, what to do with it.....  any suggestions from you all would be wonderful as I am not very sure.
__________

I posted "Pat's Rum Cake" over at Blacksheep Bakes - click HERE to go there.  Berit reminded me that I had posted it before, but it is worth repeating - enjoy!!!
__________

On the stitching front I am working on some exchange pieces this week so there will be not snaps of them until they arrive at news homes.
__________

On the movie front I continue with the Shirley Temple Movie Marathon - with a couple of films in the last few days.  First up is "Wee Willie Winkie" - 1937 - directed by John Ford.  From a story by Rudyard Kipling, set in Colonial India  circa 1890 - it is the basic ST movie formula - that takes about 100 mins to get through.  I was not as impressed by this film as others that I have seen her in.  Two stand out performances are of course Shirley and the other was Victor McLaglen as Sgt McDuff.

The other ST film "Little Miss Broadway" - 1938 - is much more typical of the films she made - lots of singing and dancing - the story revolves around her being adopted out of an Orphanage and then rescuing a Hotel full of show folk from a "mean" rich old lady, played wonderfully well by Edna May Oliver.  Of course there is the love story and the eventual happy ending.  But, it is the snappy songs that you remember.  The movie starts off with the Orphanage Band and singers with this number.........

There are other numbers just as much fun - and at 70 mins this movie just zips along.

There you go sports fans.  Thanks for stopping by do come again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. love your LK finish! what about a large "tuck-like" pillow made out of it? or a wall-hanging? I just made a large pillow for a customer and it turned out really cute.

  3. I'm not sure how big your cute little Lizzie Kate is, but I think wall hanging or a hanging pillow for a door knob would be nice. I am partial to A Little Princess, myself. I always wanted to wake up and find myself in the lap of luxury with a yummy breakfast just waiting on me!

  5. I would make a pillow top out of it (I have some examples that I've recently done on my blog - go to my blog and type in "pillow" in the search box); it would look very cute displayed at Christmas time!

    I love Shirley Temple movies!
