Gentle Readers and Dear Friends once again I welcome you to my Blog - a place for me to spout off on just about everything. Usually I confine myself to my mundane life and today will be no different. Our weekend was lovely here in SF - as the weather was perfectly cool and breezy - mostly overcast, steel grey skies with tons of fog wrapping us in misty cold evenings - I even had turn the heat on to take the chill off - no too much, but enough. I know that coming up this Fall we will have some warmer days, but now I am enjoying the cool!!

Over the weekend I finished up the Lizzie Kate piece I have been working on - here is a snap -
Lizzie Kate - Flip Its - "12 Blessings of Christmas" as a Sampler (w/out charms)
7/24/2011 - 8/7/2011
36 ct Creamy Mystery Linen
Using mostly the recommended WDW & GAST Floss.
This snap is off on colour and looks kind of greenish - sorry - I changed up the floss colours here and there and added and subtracted bits of stitching. I also added some Algerian eye stitches to replace some of the basic cross stitches. I did not use the charms as the linen I chose was a smaller count than recommended and the charms looked gigantic and over sized. It was a fun and quick piece to stitch. I could see where these little Flip-its would make great ornaments.

On Saturday we ran around to some estate sales and Thrift shops - here is a snap of the haul....
From L to R - a nice little copy of Our Lady of Carmel icon - a couple of Christmas books. On the back book is a Lladro goose figurine - I am not really a fan of Lladro, but I couldn't pass on this little fella. And last but not least a blue and white plate of Niagara Falls - now this is something I do collect - older transfer ware plates, especially from places I have been or will go.... at some point I hope.
__________
On the baking front - since I was in a Holiday mood - I made one of my favorite Holiday cakes. I am sure I have posted it before, but a long time ago (It think)....
Pat's Rum Cake - this one's a winner - in my book!! I'll get the recipe up in the morning.

I just love your LK. Very cute. But most of all I love your posts on Monday, just to see what you found at your estate/thrift sales. We have a thrift shop, "Out of the Closet" about a block and a half away, I go there about once a month, but I never seem to find nice goodies like you do. You must have a knack.
ReplyDeleteYour baking always looks so good. You must stay slim working out in that pool you have.
Have fun - Mary in Long Beach, CA
