A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends,  to begin with, I really do no like the NEW Blogger, I tried it out for a little while and just don't care for it one bit!!  Now with that said here's a new shot of Agnes and the alphabets...

...I'm not sure why it looks so blue, I guess it was the lighting...I was asked a question about the letter "D" and I think Agnes forgot to stitch it where it should be and just popped that sucker on the end.  I love the quirky nature of that misplacement and thought about moving it back into place but then just went with it the way it was charted.

In the story about the original sampler, Barb and Alma mention about the addition of the name Ella after the second alphabet "Z" - I left that in as I had a really good friend when I was growing up in Maryland named Ella and it was nice to think back to my childhood a million years ago and Ella and her rabbits.  Fun Times!!!  I'm just moving through this one and already have another project on the horizon...a Christmas present I need to stitch up that should be fun!!

A Little Foggy Evening

Gentle Friends, I've been sitting here all evening after dinner, stitching and watching "Upstairs, Downstairs" and looking out of our sliding glass doors at the view across Noe Valley...here's a snap...

... the fog is rolling in as it has the last couple days.   The last of the light from the sun as it sinks in the west hit the clouds turning them wonderfully pink against a cerulean sky...
it is a lovely evening here by the Bay.

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, stitching away on Agnes...here's a rather crappy snap...

... I finished up the three-sided border.. and got a start on the alphabets.  I've switched out a couple of the called for flosses as they sort of disappeared into the linen.  I'm thinking about extending the beginning of the border to match up with the left side.

A Little Look Back

Gentle Friends... today would have been my parents 65th Wedding Anniversary so I thought I'd dig up a snap from that rainy but happy day...

... here are my mom and dad leaving the church.  They were going back to her mother's house to change and hop on a train for their honeymoon in New York City...

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends,  still stitching away on Agnes... here's a snaperoo of where I left off...

...as I turned the corner on the border at the top right I had to adjust the outside line a bit so that it matched up with the left side.  For some reason, the blue line was another 4 stitches further out and made the whole piece look lopsided so I "fixed" it visually as I have done here and there along the way... I'd have finished up the border but missed a crucial sitch that I really couldn't fix so after I sida a couple of not too nice words I frogged that sucker back almost 2 1/2 inches... I've restitched and almost caught up to where I was and will probably have the border complete in the next day or two.  Then it is on to the alphabets in the center...

A Few More Films...

Gentle Friends, Saturday morning is rolling along as usual... we've gone to Safeway, stopped off at Noahs Bagels for some breakfast and I finished up the second load of laundry!!  Now it's time to settle down with Agnes and some film>  This weekend will be all about...

Alice Faye (May 1915 – May was an American actress and singer, Old Hollywood Movies, Old Hollywood Glamour, Golden Age Of Hollywood, Vintage Hollywood, Hollywood Stars, Hollywood Actresses, Classic Hollywood, Classic Actresses, Female Actresses
Alice Faye

I really enjoy her films!!  My AF marathon really started last night with my watching "Alexanders Ragtime Band." - 1938 - This film viewing was prompted by watching earlier in the evening "Witness for the Prosecution" -1957 - with Tyrone Power.  It was the Tyrone Power connection that led to the musical....so I got to thinking about AF I that have both sets of DVDs that were put out with her films  AND I hadn't seen them in a while so...

The first set includes: "Lillian Russell" - 1940, "On the Avenue" -1937, "That Night in Rio" -1941, and "The Gangs All Here"- 1943.
The Alice Faye Collection, Vol. 2 | Daedalus Books | D78359
The second set includes  "Rose of Washington Square" -1939, "Hollywood Cavalcade" - 1939, "The Great American Broadcast" - 1941, "Hello, Frisco, Hello" - 1943 and "Four Jills in a Jeep" - 1944

These fun films I've seen many times before and will totally enjoy then once again.  I've put them in chronological order because I'm just a bit on the nutzo side... and I like to see them that way... so dear friends it's off to the movies for me!!  Thanks for stopping by do stop again!  Stay Safe!

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, I got a bit of stitching done this past week... here's a snap...

... you can see I've turned the corner and am working along the top edge.  This sampler only has the three sides and is a smaller size than what I usually work on...  you can see some of the changes I've made along the way.  I went back and added a strawberry to the tail end on the vine... and I've added an extra stitch to bring each of the strawberries on the top edge to a point and look like the other berries that are along the sides.
