An Oldie and a Goodie

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends I am just speechless, the kind outpouring of sweet comments yesterday about my small attempt at design is completely overwhelming!!!  My chest is so puffed up I can barley reach the keyboard - my head so swollen my neck aches!!!!  I do thank you most heartily !!!  At some point I will post the chart so that you can download it - but,  I hope to have cleaned it up and make clear some things before then.   I hope to do this sooner rather than later.
__________

Not too much else happening - I am diligently working away on a couple of exchanges that I want to get out in the next day or two.  I am also at a stitching quandary - or I was, I should say.  Last night as I sat in the big old stitching chair without needle in hand - I thought about what to stitch.  Now, like everyone else I have my WIPS - and I have my "Piles O' Stash" that need to be turned into WIPS.  I even have a few Kitted up things..... now, my quandary was "what to stitch."  I couldn't just sit idle and stitch nothing.  I couldn't just play with Lil Smokie, or another of the Who Hounds. And, god forbid I actually clean up something or run the vacuum!!  So I dug around in the WIP basket ( I didn't have to move an inch to do this, so that became the obvious choice)  and pulled this out.....

... you remember this great piece.   I so enjoyed working on this, why did I put it away?  If I had to guess that reason, it might have been because, there is lots of "very pale jade" silk in my future on the large central square.  So I got some VPJ NPI silk out -  and I started to stitch away on this again!  I do love the Hawk Run Hollow series and I think that Shores, followed closely by Autumn are my two favorites! Whoops, I do love me some Christmas at HRH too!  With only Village at HRH in the completed pile I have  many stitching hours ahead of me before they are all completed.

I posted the Harvest Pumpkin-Spice Bar recipe over at Blacksheep Bakes, click HERE to go there.  I posted the original recipe and also the variations I made as I went along.

It is a tasty cake and will do you proud this coming Fall.
__________

That's about it for today sports fans!!  I do thank you all for taking the time to leave those kind comments, your continued support of my craziness and for just stopping by.  Do come again!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. I think we all get into that situation where we are surrounded by things to stitch and we just can't make a choice on which one deserves all the attention right now! I'm glad you did pick up the shores piece because it is stunning!

Thanks too for posting the pumpkin bars/cake recipe. I'm needing to bring a snack to a get together next weekend and I may have to give this one a try!

  3. you chose a good project to work on! I have yet to do any of them, but I have a few of the patterns...just waiting....

  4. Gah!! I can't believe I let the time slip by after seeing your wonderful sampler completed so much that it was already the next day! :o

Of course, I adore it, and would like to chime in with all the good things that must have already been said. :D I think it is just tops.

Mmnnn pumpkin! I also have a stitching project I am not really loving--PS Santa's Night. Stitching with 2 threads on black Aida is a real PITA! So, maybe do what I am doing for shores--a strand or two a day! I wonder if you would finish that VLJ by the end of year if you did that!

  6. "Pile o Stash" - I like that expression. Although my husband just said mountain would describe mine better. Pffft.
Love your WIP. It looks gorgeous. Glad you took it out to give it some attention.
Your cake looks very tasty :)

  8. I use the term "an embarrassment of riches" to describe the WIPs and as yet unstarted but kitted up projects that I have in my current stitching bag.

  9. Good choice! When I have a large area to stitch in one color, and I don't feel like just stitching and stitching it, I work on it for a little while and then work somewhere else on the same piece- it helps break up the monotony. JMHO! :)

  10. Edgar - I totally understand the issue with "pile o stash" and WIP's. Seems that there is always something that we want to stitch on sooner rather than later. Just not enough time in the day.

I have also started Shores but it seems to get but aside alot for the same reason that you stated - all that pale jade (or DMC 927 in my version). Now seeing yours I think I will pick this one back up this weekend to at least get another block done. I have been jumping around alot since I tend to get easily bored.

I also wanted to Thank You for your kind words that you have left for me on my blog. It is hard to find other male stitchers that share the same passion.

Also I really like your "design your own" sampler and look forward to downloading and stitching.

    Warmest regards -- Robert

  11. Love your progress on this one!! Now you're making me want to start in on this again. I got discouraged on that very block and put it down. I think that I need to pull it out again.

  14. Can't wait to see your progress on SoHRH!

I can't find any pumpkin anywhere! I have one can that I am keeping safe until I can find more supplies and then I'll be on a pumpkin baking rampage myself. lol

  15. I think most stitchers can relate. I may be one of the few who haven't stitched any of the Hawk Run Hollow series. Your's is looking good!

  18. We'll have to be careful with the comments for a while, Edgar. After all, we don't want your head to be so heavy it falls off, lol. Glad you had lots of good comments though. Now I'm off to check out your recipe.

  19. Have you seen the newest installment, The Farms of Hawk Run Hollow? It had to come home with me when I saw it Saturday.

  20. Hmmm Shores or chores??? bit of a no brainer really.... I am sure you are still doing a lot of 'spot' cleaning anyway - that's valid housework time isn't it?
I didn't comment yesterday, but like everyone else, am totally in awe of your lovely sampler. You have really got a knack with colour and balance, you have every right to puff out that chest :)
