Burgers, Fries and a Tasty Kreme Filled Goodie

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends I thought I would start off today's post with a little snap of my sampler border.  It isn't much, yet, but I am plugging away.  I don't think I mentioned it but this is actually my second attempt at the Samplermakers Challenge.  The first one wasn't coming together as I wanted it to so instead of beating my head against the wall I started a new one.  At some point I will probably go back and work on it as I like the poem so much.  This second sampler is much more simple - and I am still fitting it to an old frame I have.  Here is the snap....

As you can see I am stitching pomegranates on a vine - or at least that's what they are in my mind.  I have gotten the central design to about 80%  - just tweaking the colours and some of the interior lines.  I am amazed at just how much work there is to this "designing."  I also have a new appreciation for the designers working away on all the wonderful charts that are released.
__________

The title of the post refers to last nights adventure in dinning.  Rico had a hankering for a burger so we picked up a friend and drove down to South City to ....

Notice that even 20 minutes south of the city the fog rolls in over the hills.   Even though we got there for an early dinner the place was just packed.

I do love that the menu is basic and straight forward.  After ordering and circling the restaurant for an empty table they called our order numbers.  Martin got a what I think is called an "Animal Protein Burger."

Where instead of bread they wrap the double or is it triple patty sandwich in lettuce - and of course we got this tray of deliciousness....

......cheeseburgers and fries with Cokes.  That extra plain burger is for the who hounds.  We always bring them a treat if we can - they did enjoyed this burger!!

What is so super about this In & Out is that not 20 feet from door to door is a Krispy Kreme Donut place - so of course for dessert we had to trot on over for some.....

Here is snap of my favorite KK donut...

I don't know what the white Kreme is in these things but they are delicious!!!!  We brought home a dozen assorted and as you may imagine I have a couple right here that I am enjoying with my mug of coffee as
I type this post.
__________

I think that about wraps it up for today.  Thanks you for stopping by, taking the time to leave a comment and for your continued support of me and my Blog endeavours.  Do stop by again!!!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. Love your sampler boarder.
How could you go wrong with both a In & Out and K.K. Zap one of those donuts for about 10 sec and it is just like a fresh one.
We have the In & Out university a couple of miles away, it is fun to go get a hamburger from the trainees.

  2. The border on your sampler looks lovely. Can't wait to see it as you progress.

The burgers and fries look wonderful. We don't have an In-Out Burger place here in the Chicago area but I've heard they are really good:))

  3. oh... I think that is sinful to have those two places side by side!!! The burger and fries make my mouth water... and I would sure love a scrumptious doughnut with my morning coffee... oh well, will settle for a golden oreo... enjoy your day!

  4. Love your border so far and when I saw the pic before reading the post I thought pomegranates so your designing is right on. Can't wait to see the progress on this one!

  5. Your sampler border is beautiful! They do look like pomegranates, lol!!

I miss In and Out. They have some of the best fast burgers around. Also miss Weinerschnitzel, but that's a whole other story. Ah to be in California, or the southwest, again!

  6. Great job on the sampler border!! I love it.
In and Out - now I want me some. Have to wait till I get back to AZ.
BTW, I have a recipe for a cheeseburger and fries casserole - interested?

  7. Beautiful border on your sampler. Pomegranates or radishes...I like both! I turn in to a big'ol dunderhead everytime I am called to put a stitch in a piece that isn't on the chart so I also appreciate the talent of our designers out there too.

Masterchief has many memories of the Krispy Kreme hot n ready light at his childhood shop. So YUMMY!

  8. Love the border so far! I can't wait to watch your progress. Good for you about not letting the other one get the better of you! That just takes all the fun out of a wonderful hobby.

I do love me some hot KK donuts. Especially the ooey gooey white creme filled! Oh and the basic glazed are a treat as well. Take a big bite of that creme filled for me!

  9. I think your border is beautiful and am looking forward to seeing what it will enclose.
And, you have me hankering for a burger right now and it is only 11:05am here ... totally not fair.

I'll pass on your KK donut though. As a Northerner, I favor Dunkin' Donuts. During my eight year sojourn in Virginia, I always found Krispy Kreme donuts too soft and too sweet. Heresy, I know, but there it is!

  10. Looking forward to seeing your sampler as it evolves. Like you, I have a new appreciation for all designers must go through in the process of creating new things. More delicious food! I was sad when Krispy Kreme disappeared from our area~but rumor has it they may be coming back. I can hope.

  11. How I wish they had In and Out Burgers here. I love them and haven't had one since I visited my sister a few years ago in CA! I crave them! KK donuts we can get here. They're sold all over the place (like gas stations), but they're best hot out of the fat at the store!

    Now I want a burger........sigh!

  12. Look forward to watching your progress on your sampler. It's sure pretty so far. Love me some In-N-Out Burger. I always get the cheeseburger, no lettuce, extra tomatoes, spread and grilled onions, I'm a creature of habit, if you go on their website you can find their "secret" menu. That's just sinful that there is a Krispy Kreme right next door. Yum!

  13. I love the border on your sampler. Look forward to your progress. We don't have Krispie Creme up here in MA. We are the birth place of Dunkin Donuts.

  14. Good luck with the designing Edgar, I agree it's not easy. I've occasionally changed a design around a little (I stress little) and it's given me enormous respect for the work of the talented designers that are out there.

  15. Darn. Now I am hungry for hamburgers!!! LOL Good thing that is what I planned on making tonight anyway. I usually cook up hamburger for Rory and have a little for myself when I do.

  16. I love your autumn sampler so far -- the border is so pretty! As for your dinner -- oh you're getting me hungry! I'd love to go to a burger joint and a krispy kreme for dessert. Lucky!

  17. OMG! Those burgers look yummy-o and Krispie Kreme rocks! Some times the best meals are the ones where a suit and tie is not required!!

  18. Oh Edgar....In & Out!! Yuuuuuuuuumm. My DD wanted me to bring home one of their burgers but I don't think that it would survive the 13 hr flight (not to mention getting through customs!!). Double double animal style thanks.

  19. Lovely border. These pomegranates look very promising. I have a thing with borders...lol. If I love the border, I most likely love all of it. And I do like this border!!!
Looks to me like you had a great dinner with dessert.
Thank god I'm not the only one taking things home to the Royal Woofinesses. Don't tell anyone, but I do cook for them often enough.

  20. In & Out and Krispy Kreme in one place?! Some would say that is Heaven. We have plenty of Krispy Kremes here in the South, but no In & Out. It's one of the places we have to visit when we come to CA to see our son!

  21. Good job on the border! Nice contrast and spacing. I think I need to stay away from your blog for a few days before I gain another 5 pounds. First the cakes, now the donuts. I have my glazed babies in the freezer and after your blog, they're headed to that hot pan for frying!

  22. Looks like you are off to a great start, I can't wait to see it when it is finished.
Nice looking bergers and of course the donuts are to die for. I live 2 miles from a KK and I hardly ever go, I am round enough

  23. What could possibly go better with burger and fries than a sugary sweet, warm doughnut!

    happy stitching on your sampler...

  26. Looks like a lovely border to me. It will be nifty to see what more you do.

  27. Hey Edgar - happy Friday!! I knew your border was pomegranates before I had scrolled down, so I think you are very successful! It's looking good.

Seeing as I have not had fries for a very long time, your dinner looked absolutely delicious! I have never been to the In & Out burger place, although I have seen several over the years. We do have K.K. and they are delicous...enjoy your weekend.

  29. In & Out just opened their first location here in Fort Worth - I figured I would wait for the novelty to wear off before I attempt to eat there.

I love Krispy Kreme donuts - my favorites are the raspberry filled ones, but there aren't many that I don't like!
