I've been RAK'd

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends let me welcome back my gang of Followers and also welcome the new Followers to the Blog - I don't know why but seeing the little number click up makes me a happy guy.  I guess I am doing something right and y'all keep coming back for more.  I do wonder about the whole "Following" thing and what it actually does or doesn't do.  I read lots of Blogs and comment here and there, but often am not a Follower - and for no other reason than I forget to click all the buttons to become a follower.  Oh, well I guess it is another of the mysteries of the Blog-o-sphere that I'll not understand.
___________

Yesterday I received a wonderful RAK from Carol - over at IStitch - she and I have been Blog Buddies since my earliest days of Blogging a few years ago.  What she RAK'd me with is a wonderful copy of my favorite story...... and if you have read my Blog for a while you you know that to be......

"A Christmas Carol" (1843) by Charles Dickens.  This 1963 CIC edition also includes  another charming holiday story "Cricket on the Hearth" (1845).  Dickens actually produced 4 Christmas Books and 17 Christmas stories with "Carol" being his most famous.  "A Christmas Carol" was written in about 6 weeks - Dickens started it in October of 1843 and finished it up by the end of November with that first edition of 6000 selling out by Christmas Eve of 1843.   This will be a wonderful addition to my ever growing collection.  The CIC books are also special in that each one has specially designed end papers for each book.  This edition is no different and has charming....

... plum puddings and turkeys - how great is that!!
__________

We grilled burgers poolside and went swimming in the bathwater temp pool yesterday  - so relaxing and really lovely watching the fog spill over twin Peaks.  As we walked back up from the pool area I notice how nice our balcony looked in comparison to the other tenants in our building.  All the credit goes to Rico as he has the green thumb in our house.  I thought I should take a snap and show it off a bit.....

It is really lush and colourful this time of year.

There you go sports fans.  I do thank you stopping by and for you kind comments.
Do stop by again!!

Take care,
edgar

Hi Edgar, what a nice gift to have received. What fun to have gone to the beach and as always love when you post pics of the farmer's market and of places you all go to eat.

Have a good one.

Your balcony looks great! What a nice RAK. Aren't stitchers the best? Hugs, Nancy D.

What a lovely balcony! I wish my concrete garden looked so nice- mine is not really thriving this year. :( I "follow" blogs cause when I sign into blogger it shows me the most recent post from that blog- it's an easy way to know who has updated recently, if they are on blogger anyway. :) Just an FYI. :)

Kudos to Rico! The balcony looks beautiful and I love, love the colors. Do you stitch out there?

Rico must have green thumbs abound - beautiful colors. I bet there is pride there when you both look at your balcony compared to the others in your building. What a nice RAK! Enjoy your weekend (as it is soooo close)!

What a nice afternoon you had plus the plants looking so good on the patio. That is one of the things I noticed when I had the opportunity to travel to Europe, so many lovely patio gardens.

Gorgeous flowers! I managed to fry my two hanging baskets of petunias this year. Too much direct sun I suppose. Meanwhile...I'll enjoy yours.

Wow, Edgar, what gorgeous plants! They're amazing! And nice RAK. I'm not a Dickens fan, but I understand the lure of a good book you like!

Your balcony is gorgeous! I wish I could borrow Rico... I am the opposite of a green thumb. In fact I am a plant murderer!

Hi Edgar,

I have been lurking and reading for a while and am now a new follower. You inspired me to start blogging as well to show some of my stitching. Anyhoo, following allows you to compile posts in one spot so you can use a RSS feed like Google Reader or blogger to compile all the posts in one spot. Then you don't have to click through all your links to catch up.
It's great IMHO because it catches me up in less time and leaves more time for stitching or whatever.
Have a great week!
