GR&DF (I like that better!!) Yesterday was a bust-o-matic at work. Usually I come in, make a pot of coffee (I need the fuel) and have my thoughts coagulate in my brain a minute or so before I get a start to write a post, but yesterday I walked in on a pile of stuff and had to get right in on getting it done. I hate when work interferes with my pleasure!
This past weekend went about the way they usually unfold - so let me start off off with a snap of some stitching I can show. Here's a crooked snap....
"Garden Path" is coming along a stitch at a time. I worked lots on exchange stitching an only a little bit on this, but I finished up the trees (how odd is that pink fruit) and a couple of flowers on the border. I am really enjoying this piece, as I do all samplers, go figure.
I also solidified my plans to make a visit to my Mom in Florida - which means I will be away from the Blog for about a week the first part of November. I planned my visit around the Halifax Art Festival. I haven't been home in a couple of years or been to the Art Festival in many years so it should be a good time.
On Saturday we Dale and I ran around to some sales. There was not too much out there, but I did find a few things -
From l to r - an Icon of St Joseph, a nice little older frame, a DVD and a frog warmer. A Frog Warmer you ask - my sweet little sister has become a Scentsy Consultant and sent me a few of the flame less candle samples. I really wanted to try them out and I didn't have a warmer so I bought him. I burn lots of candles and incense as you know, but Scentsy was new to me and I am totally sold on these wax melts. Scentsy sells and warmer that is really wonderful if you have small children and don't want to burn tea lights. I love having another option for "smelling" up my house!! Cissy is up and selling them so if you are interested you can click on over to her site and find out more about this great product.
On Saturday evening we were hanging out by the pool being lazy and watching the fog roll in and wondering what to do for dinner - get take out, get something delivered..... then Rico had an idea!! The building owners have not only fixed up the pool area they bought a super grill for us to use -
So I defrosted a beef tenderloin et voila -
Pepper-marinated with summer squash and onion packets, so quick, so easy!! - we are totally loving the new owners!!!
Sunday we ran over to the Farmers Market - Rico wanted a new orchid (since the orchid death numbers where falling, he need something else to murder!! :) There are always a couple of plant people selling them.
There were some lovely squash.....
and a ton of grapes are appearing...
On the baking front I made a plate of brownies late Sunday afternoon - so easy and so delicious!!!
With this posting I reach a huge milestone!! I have made 800 Blog Posts. When I started writing a few years back I couldn't imagine I would have anything to say or talk about, but here I am with 800 Posts under my belt - will miracles never cease?? So I think I will have a little drawing - stop back tomorrow and find out the details.
Thank you all so very much for your continued kind words and thoughts - warm fuzzies in an otherwise cold and cruel world!!!!!
Take care,
edgar

I really like your sampler! I know you have shared the details on "Garden Path" already, but would you mind sharing them again? I would love to put this one on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on Garden Path. I just wish is was still available.
ReplyDeleteThe sampler is coming along great Edgar!! Love all the pics. Very nice to have that grill to use! I know you and Rico had fun. 800 posts?- seems like it was just yesterday that you were at 700. Where on Earth did this time go?
ReplyDeleteCan hardly wait to see what the drawing will be!!
The sampler is beautiful - I think I'm going to ask my husband to take me to lunch - I'm starving all of a sudden ;)
ReplyDeleteI REALLY love Garden Path, it is very pretty. Do think the fruits are pomegranites(sp)?
ReplyDeleteGriliing is so fun quick and easy :) Our building also just put in a brand new grill. I am going to use it tonight after work. Grilled chicken with Tomatilio salsa.
Take care congrats on 800 posts WooHoo!!!
I love your sampler! So pretty! Love all your pics too. You are always cooking yummy things up. Congrats on your 800th post -- that's impressive!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is beautiful! Congrats on the 800 posts!
ReplyDeleteAs always, your food and market pics have added ten pounds just from looking!
How great that you have a grill to use. We grill out all year. Our neighbors think we're a bit nuts, as we will even shovel a path through the snow to get the grill!
I always love reading your posts - your pics are always the best. Great progress on Garden Path. Congratulations on the 800 posts...can't wait to see what the drawing will be.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on Garden Path...looking great! And 800 posts...wow!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the new owners are making tons of improvements. Doesn't that feel nice in rent-controlled SF?! Congrats on that!
A lady at church sells Scentsy and I like it. You can have in a room like the powder room and not have to watch it or be careful of a flame. Lovely stitching, good stuff and good eats, what else do you need in a weekend?
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling at the last picture. Well done on 800 posts. x
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading your posts. Garden Path is coming along nicely. You just have to love that grill! We grill year round here - in the winter, I knock the snow and ice off to have a good grilled meal. :o)
ReplyDeleteWell done on 800 posts Edgar. You have such an easy style of writing - it's always a pleasure to visit your blog. Here's to the next 800!!
ReplyDeleteI commiserate with Rico and the orchids. I specialize in hoyas and have tried orchids without much luck.
ReplyDeleteThat sample is pretty but I think I would change the pink parts as I am not partial to that color.
Mary in Tennessee
Garden Path is looking good.
ReplyDeleteI will be Florida until Nov 3rd!
Congrats on 800 posts Edgar! I enjoy reading your blog, you have a way with words.
ReplyDeleteGarden Path is really coming along. Were your ears ringing on Sunday? Masterchief and I met with Vera and her hubby for some shopping and a yummy bite to eat. I think you came up in conversation once or twice!
(I like GR&DF much better too)
I really love your progress on Garden Path. It is looking fantastic. Such a great piece.
ReplyDeleteGarden is just lovely. I love the reds.
ReplyDeleteThe grill looks sooo yummy!
I was a little worried when there was no Monday post! I just hate it when work interferes with my stitching, reading and watching movies. My question is, what are onion packets? Sounds very interesting and I love onions.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching 800 posts. The sampler is lovely. Is that on fabric you dyed? I love the look of it. The only other thing I can say is - brrrroooowwwwnnnniiiieees!
ReplyDeleteOh Edgar! Brownies yummm! Sounds like your new bldg. owners are great. We grill all year-as long as there's not too much snow on the deck i send DH out there! Garden Path is really coming along nicely. Nancy D.

I think your greeting is better now too (even though I am one of the many who asked what it meant...but it suits your blog!) Sounds like you will have a nice visit with your Mom - and being on myself - I can't imagine when my boy moves out - he's never home now, 17 and all, but he still lives here - I am sure you mom will be so glad to see you!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Garden Path again Edgar, and it's looking beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the 800 posts, puts my paltry 117 posts to shame.(LOL)
LOL! I think orchids are difficult to keep too! (Poor Rico)
ReplyDeleteYour sampler is wonderful. Just love the colors, even the "pink" fruit!
The brownies look divine, and sitting by the pool with some great BBQ sounds perfect!

Hello, I love your sampler. The food must be fabulous!. Happens to me as well as to Rico: also die my orchids. I would like to participate in your drawing, by the way I invite you to participate to the giveaway that I'm doing too.
