GR&DF - well, the 4 day weekend is over - and where did that sucker go ?? It seems that whizz bang and we are back to a new week of work. I hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather in the City was really wonderful - hovering in the mid 70's - bright and cool breezes. Only yesterday did the fog really roll in over us and shroud the City - I was loving it immensely!!
I finish up the sampler I started last week - here is a shot -
"The Absent-Minded Squirrel" - 6/29 - 7/3 - by Of Female Worth -
Stitched on 32ct Flax - using my Floss Conversion
This great little sampler was lots of fun to stitch - and I just love the little squirrel!!
I already had another piece kitted up and I started in on it - here is a snap of that -
This is "The Garden Path" - by Sheepish Designs - I am stitching it on a mystery piece of linen - my best guess is that it is 36ct PTP Days Gone By - it looks very much like a larger piece in my stash, but who knows??
The mail brought a fabulous RAK -
a copy of "The Plantation Sampler" by Canterbury Designs. The first time I saw this chart I wanted it to stitch, but it has been OOP for so long I knew my chances where pretty slim. I have been chasing it on the secondary market for the last few years without luck - and then out of the blue a dear sweet reader of my Blog sends it to me - without gushing to much - Thank You so much for your kindness!! I keep saying it and as always it holds true - stitchers are wonderful, generous people!!!
Yesterday Rico and I ran out to Louie's fro breakfast. When we walked in we immediately got a table which is pretty rare - just after we sat down a really big line formed from now where - making for a good long wait. Here is a shot of the Pacific from where we where...
This looks like dusk, but it was mid morning - all grey and lovely!!
This gorgeous car was parked out front of the diner...
....a beautiful 1937 Buick - how great is this!! The guy that was driving it came into Louie's and sat at the counter - he was decked out in what could have passed for a zoot suit - the whole look he achieved was great!!
There is some more stuff we did, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Thank you all so much for stopping by - do come again!!
Take care,
edgar

Beautiful finish Edgar! It amazes me how fast people stitch. Your photos are lovely as always. I must say I am wishing for your cooler weather as we have been in the 90's with high humidity - not nice expecially for New York State where we are not use to these high temps.
ReplyDeleteAbsent Minded-Minded Squirrel is so cute! Congrats on your finish. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect weekend to me :) With a RAK on the top like a sweet cherry, huh?! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are a very derserving young man!
Great Finish! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift to receive from a stitcher! I agree stitchers are very generous people
Your finish is really lovely. I haven't seen that design but now i will have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteLove your squirrel sampler! I think it's so interesting to see how squirrels are designed in the different samplers.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful shot of the Pacific Ocean, and a beautiful car! Cars used to have such style.
Great finish Edgar.. Congratulations on obtaining Plantaion Sampler. Is'nt it a beautiful design? I was also RAK'd some time ago with this chart from a fellow stitcher, aww struck by the generosity of others :)
ReplyDeleteWhen do you plan on stitching this? Maybe we could do SAL? I have fabric for this that I bought on my last/first trip to NiAH but I think it may be to pinkish. So may have to try another fabby.
Take care and have a wonderful week ahead.
What a cute little squirrel! And, The Plantation Sampler is a great old design and will be gorgeous worked up.
ReplyDeleteYou've made a good start on The Garden Path. The colors are so pretty! That's one I have looked for off and on but no luck yet.
Edgar you make my head spin!! Congratulations on the finish AND the start. The only stitchy progress I had over the weekend included FROGS!!!
ReplyDeleteYour little squirrel sampler is cute! Sounds like you had a gun trip to the diner!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish Edgar! And great start too! I haven't been to Louis' in forever...love the old car out front.

Just love that little finish! You stitched it quickly too!
ReplyDeleteLove the chart that was sent to you. I think I remember seeing that many years ago. I wasn't interested in doing big projects back then, but love them now, and wish I would have picked it up. I can't wait to see your progress.
What a great weekend!
Love the autumn-ish sampler. So cute.
ReplyDeleteThe Plantation Sampler. ooooh, I love that one so very much. I also never saw it til it was out of print. I can't wait to see you start it so I can "stitch" it vicariously through you. :)
Lastly.... wowza, great car. That one is a beauty.
Gorgeous finish. I just love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI sure wish we had the lovelt temps you had. But right now it is 100 degrees! Yuck. I did get a ferry ride in and that helped coolus off. :)
Love your photo of the view.
Beautiful finish! And great start!!
ReplyDeleteThe finished sampler is adorable. I like that little squirrel, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat is RAK? I'm generally pretty good at figuring out acronyms, and I may slap my forehead when told, but this one has me stumped.

ReplyDeleteI love it; hadn't seen that one before. What a wonderful RAK--the lines of the border are so elegant!
Super post, Edgar.
Beautiful finish Edgar. Hey, that guy in the Buick wasn't carrying a violin case, was he? :o) Glad you had a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove the finish Edgar, until I found your blog I wasn't a big sampler lover LOL
ReplyDeletenice finish, edgar. I love the car and your weather sounds great compared to the heat wave we're having here in Michigan...
ReplyDeleteA great finish and a wonderful start- perfect stitching form! Congrats on getting the Plantation Sampler. I stitched this piece about 15 years ago and gave the chart away. Who knew it would be so sought after? I know you'll enjoy stitching this.
ReplyDeleteEdgar, what a fantastic finish! Personally I love the shading in the oak leaves.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to live in such a beautiful and interesting town! That car is too cool!
Love your finish! And your new start is just so pretty, the linen is perfect.
