It was a Stitchity Stay at Home Weekend!!

GR&DF the weekend came and went so fast - like whoosh!!! Now, whats up with that???? I think if the week is dragging by like a snail on its last bit of slime then the weekend should drag by accordingly.

All my grandiose plans for getting the house in shape for the holidays where a sort of fizzle and I did very little in the way of getting prepared for Thanksgiving - which is a mere 9 days away. With my sister and her family coming down from Vancouver, WA - it will be a full house Holiday!! I know she reads this blog daily - she wont comment here but I do hear what she thinks about my blathering when we get to yakking on the phone. Hey Cissy!!!

So what did we do this weekend????? We hung out at home. We did run some errands Saturday morning and I did 5 loads of laundry - but really the house was where it was at for the last couple of days. I worked a little on an exchange but I expended most of my stitching energies towards stitching on my own projects. I finished up Hetty - and I am really pleased with how she worked up with my changes - here is a snap

"Hetty Child" The Sampler Company
October 18 - November 14
32ct Fog - converted from DMC to Belle Soie

I really like how she turned out - the picture bites , but the sampler is pretty!! I also started another piece for myself. Before I did I made the decision to stitch from my stash. I figure I have a pile of it so why should I buy more???? So I pulled out a piece of 28 count BOF Sandpiper that I had left from another something I stitched and found a chart I wanted to do (that would fit) ... then went to my HDF silks and pulled the silk conversion of DMC and here is where I am a day or so later -

This is Goode Huswife's "Ellen Birdseye" and chart I got off of eBay as it is OOP. I have wanted to do up for the longest time and she is coming along fine - it is a smaller than Hetty so should finish pretty quickly - then I think I may pull out CHS Alphabet - I have the linen I want to use and about 85% of the recommended over dyed colours - the rest I can fake from the stash heap. This time of year funions are tight so I just can not justify spending the cash on kitting out something new. I must be strong!!! There is always the new year. :)

I took a snap that sort of illustrates the weekend at my house.......

This was the mid morning nap time yesterday at my house after chocolate croissant and a couple of cups of coffee. I will hear it about this picture I am sure!!!!

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words!!!

Take care,
edgar

Hetty is gorgeous, and I love your colors! Your new start looks very nice too.

I don't think you should hear a word about the photo of Rico and company - it's very sweet.

Edgar, You amaze me - like Coni, you are so amazingly fast and produce so many beautiful pieces. What a sweet picture of Rico and ...is it Peach?

OMG Edgar!! You could knock me over with a feather!! Hetty=Stunning. There are no words. New start is also amazing: How lucky are we to be able to see a beautiful OOP piece as it works up on your blog? I know for sure that if you weren't posting it I would NEVER even see it. And, you're (perhaps) doing CHS Alphabet next!? Has Christmas come early for me?? This is one I've been really wanting to do (or at least the "C for Cat"), but the investment in terms of time, skill, and money is more than I'm equal to at present. It's gonna be really fun for me to watch if you do work this one up!

Hooray for you for working in your stash; reading your comment about using "funions" in the Holiday Season made me Lol as I remembered an old quote of yours from before I was a reader. I came across it when I was searching in your blog for images of the different types of BoF linen--Did you know that you are an excellent resource for what it looks like as you've used it so often--and saw where you'd added an aside from your wallet. It was something along the lines of "Tune in Next Time to hear Edgar's wallet say, "Pay a bill, you fool!". lol!

As for that Rico and Puppy shot; I'd like to request a "Day in the life of" special edition blog for Rico--behind the stitchy scenes action. :D

Hetty is beautiful and I love The Goode Huswife! Your pup is adorable too. Did you get to see A Christmas Carol yet? I went with my kiddies last night & thought it was very well done.

Sounds like you had a great, relaxing weekend! Hetty is just gorgeous -- congrats on finishing her! That was quick! And your new start -- ack! Another one I want to do someday! I'm loving yours so far. You're so good to stitch from your stash. I'm ok with that when it comes to linen, but I usually have to dash out for some DMC at the least. :( That picture of Rico and companion -- I love it! That is one classic picture! You have to put it in your scrapbook!

I LOVE Hetty and I am definitely going to get her (after the 1st of the year :)). EB is going to be great also. I am a big fan of Goode Huswife.

Rico and the doggy: qu'ils sont mignons!!!!And you..............you are the bip-bip of the crossstitch!Bravo! C'est joli!

Aww, Rico shouldn't get after you about that photo...it's totally cute!
I am so inspired by all your new starts and record-setting finishes. The "using of stash" thing is ultra-inspiring too. I try very hard to be that way...you know...THRIFTY, not cheap!! "Thrifty" is a much more dignified, Victorian term anyway.

Sounds like quite the comfy weekend at home! Love Hetty - the colors are beautiful. The new start is great too - can't wait to see it finished!

Hetty looks wonderful, as does your start on Ellen.

Your little chihuahua looks just like my sister's Tito, including the way he sleeps. They love to be spoiled.

Good grief I can't believe how quickly you stitch! I'd love to see a video of you working just to see how many stitches you work to every one of mine. Really beautiful work, love the Hetty Child and can't wait to see how Ellen turns out - I probably won't have to wait long!
P.S. You also get a prize for cute pictures.

Outstanding Hetty finish!! It is gorgeous. I can appreciate your speed in stitching, and it is great fun to see it finished so quickly! I think finishing things is so important, not that WIPs arent lurking in the stash closet :). I look forward to seeing your Ellen piece, it is a great one! Someday soon, I will have to do that one too!! Nice to have a relaxing weekend.
