A Sad Valley Visit

Gentle Friends, recently Rico's father passed away after being ill for quite a long time.  Last Saturday we drove down to the Valley for the services.  It was a beautiful day in the Valley, very breezy, and quite warm, upper 80's, but not oppressively hot, as the Valley can get this time of year.

Manuel C Garcia - 1936-2014

He made a career in Air Force, and was buried with full military honors - there was a bugler who played taps and a 21 gun salute, both were very moving.

After the services and internment we all went back to  Rico's sister's house for a gathering of the family and a huge spread - his sister had been cooking for a few days and there was enough food to feed everyone and then some.
______________

On the way back home we stopped at the junction of Patterson Pass and Interstate 5 and I took some snaps of two of the main water delivery systems here in California....

..the Mendota Canall, which feeds the San Joaquin Valley agricultural system and keeps the farms going.... and running parallel to the Canal.....

... the California Aqueduct, which feeds water to Southern California and keeps LA and San Diego from drying up....

... you can see all the grass has dried out and has turned "golden" from the heat, and really will not be green again until next Winter when the rain comes.
____________

That's about it for today sports fans, thanks for stopping by, do stop again!

Take care,
edgar
