Gentle Readers and Dear Friends another Thursday looking at Friday wanting it to be Saturday kind of day. I often feel bad about wishing away the days - since we get so few to spend here - I should really be more thankful. Instead I am always counting them away.
__________
It fills my heart and makes me feel good that so many have thrown in for the Belleek bowl. I do love reading the comments... I wish I had a dozen pieces to gift away. I still have two weekends of Estate sales to get to to find more - and if I do there will certainly be multiple winners. Fingers crossed.

Remember my friend Dale - he abandoned San Francisco and moved back to North Carolina? Well, he moved in with his parents until he could find his own place. I talked to him last night and he has found a small house in Ayden NC. Very affordable and on a street that gets closed down for the Collard Festival. Woo Hoo, all he has to do is step off his front porch and into a glorious celebration of that delicious green!!! So mark you calendars for September 8 - 10, 2011 to visit Ayden and eat some greens!!
_________
Not much stitching going on - still working on Shores, but not much. For some reason I usually flop in the stitching chair get ready to stitch and then either get wrapped up in a flicker or fall asleep. Oh well - a few stitches here and there and eventually I might get enough done to take a snap.
__________
I have been rolling around the idea in my head for another visit with my mother - who lives in the Sunshine State before it gets to awfully hot - and in doing some research have found a few stitching places in and around Orlando. Past experience has shown that Daytona has none that I can find. For those stitchers in Florida - I wonder if you could get to only one shop in Central or North Florida (or within driving distance of Daytona/Ormond Beach) where would you go? Or have you been to shop in Florida that I should make an effort to visit. All recommendations welcome!!!!

There you go sports fans. Thanks again for stopping by, for commenting and for all you very kind emails!! Do stop by again!
Take care,
edgar
I am so glad that Dale has settled on his own place. Now you have another place to go visit on vacation! :) Collard Festival? Hmmmmmmmm We will expect a full report when you go. LOL
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean about falling asleep instead of stitching. And lately Rory insists on being in my lap. Kind of hard to stitch with a 70 lb lump in your lap. LOL But he is warm and cozy and that alone puts me to sleep. :)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed (make that my toes in case I do get time to stitch,) that your search for more Beleek is successful. :)
It's so good to hear the news about Dale. Sounds like his new place is perfectly situated!
ReplyDeleteHope you find more Belleek on your estate sale travels and a great stitching shop in Florida...can't wait to hear about the "Collard" Festival and what that is all about. Go see your MUM...any old excuse will do...too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry...
ReplyDeleteI've found a cross stitch shop on the outskirts of Mt. Dora - the folks are very friendly there! Would love to find some more before I go north in april....
ReplyDeleteWhen are you coming to Fla?
((((((((((((hugs)))))))))
"Jozzie"
Good luck on your hunting for more bleek I love that name.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for Dale, it is hard to live with your parents after 18 I lived with mine until the tender age of 26.
Good luck to Dale.
Catherine
Yum! I love collards! Sounds like a fun festival. I'm glad Dale found a great place. Nancy D.
ReplyDeleteLove me some collards!! Haven't had any in a long, long time. Loved the way my Mama cooked them...no clue how she seasoned them, but she did cook them in a pressure cooker. (well, I bet I know...bacon grease!) Just might have to go visit NC for the festival!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Dale for finding a house that is part of Collard Central! It seems like a go several days without a chance to stitch, not always the plan, and then I will have a good stretch of several nights to make noticeable progress. As you say, sooner or later progress will be made!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your friend Dale found a place of his own :)
ReplyDeleteAs for needlework shops anywhere near where you will be I hear people rave about Needle Orts in Altamonte springs all the time. Here is the website:
http://www.needleorts.com/index.html
I have never been there because I am on the west coast but one of these days I would like to take a trip there. As for the one someone above mentioned in Mt Dora I believe they are talking about Dream Stitchers (or something similar) and they have closed down.
The weather is absolutely gorgeous here now, so you would definitely enjoy it!
I learn something new every day. Collard festival. Who knew? I have been having catnaps in front of the tee vee lately too, it is just that dreary time of year I guess.
ReplyDeleteWell, not SO near Orlando and REALLY not near Daytona...but, in Pensacola there is a great shop called Needle Delights. They were seriosaly damaged in a hurricane a few years ago, closed, moved from the barrier island to an inland location. Not a really big store, but LOTS if inventory and nice people!
ReplyDeleteAs a Mom, I just say "Go see your Mom"!

I love collards what fun that would be to sit on your front porch with a cold glass of sweet tea and be able to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells :)
ReplyDeleteIf you decide to go to FL have a fun trip.
Take care and till next time stitch on
I second Needle Orts. The folks there are so friendly and helpful.
ReplyDeleteCome visit your Mama! :)
I third Needle Orts......cute little shop. Nice lounging area with comfy seats. A husband was snoring away when I was there! real friendly shop!
