Thrifty thursday

Gentle Friends, the fun things I found last Saturday seemed to take on a French theme......

.....  I found the great vase of old Paris Porcelain at the Goodwill.  HERE's a little info about this kind of porcelain, I also picked up two books about French history, one about Marie Antoinette, and the other about Louis XIV, a fun DVD and a sweet silver plate cup with an "M" engraved on the side.......

...... here is a close up of the vase, I was amazed at the super condition of this piece, virtually no chips, very little gilt loss and no cracks.....  just top notch - and with it being about 150 years old I would have expected it to have a little damage.......  I love this type of hard paste porcelain!!  I've been calling it the "squid vase." ....... because doesn't it look kind of like a squid!!

  1. It's like the silver plated cup was made for you. Good eyes! I would love to know what Marie wore to the revolution.

  2. Wow! You found quite a treasure. Very interesting. I have read and enjoyed a few books about Marie. One (I don't remember the title) was very sympathetic to her.
