Edgar's 1st Finish of 2013 or ATS Has Come to an End

Gentle Friends it was a really cool, chilly, bright and sunny, cold weekend!!  For the Bay area I usually wear sweatshirts and am just fine, but over the last few days, I have on not only my regulation sweatshirt, but a t-shirt and regular shirt.... and even a light jacket over everything....  at some point I was even contemplating gloves, the fingerless kind, but gloves all the same.

We not only got our regular weekend things done - but we also tackled cleaning out two completely full closets and finally put up the remaining Christmas things.... the tree, and my nativity - it was nice to get the house back in order and everything all packed up and put away for another year.  But, with the cleaning and tossing of "Closet Crap" there is a lot less "junque" around or stuffed out of sight!
______________

Even with all the other things going on I found the time to stitch and finish up ..."And They Sinned."  This bugger - boo of a piece has finally come to an end, not that I didn't enjoy the stitching journey, there are sections/parts of this piece that just seemed to never end - I can understand now why so many of these ATS' languish at the bottom of WIP baskets.

I have often thought of this monster stitch as a piece in 5 sections.
So I will break it down that way in the photos..... from top to bottom.......

.............  and those are the 5 separate pieces.... here's a complete shot of the entire piece...

"And They Sinned" - by Examplar Dames Design Co.
5/1/2011 - 1/14/2013
Stitched on 36ct Vintage Sand
Using mostly the recommended GAST Floss

Thinking back, I really think this was a piece I stitched mostly over 2012 - although I started it in 2011 - I did next to no real stitching on it for months and months.......and these last two weeks were just silly fill stitching - green, green and more green - so this was really a piece of last year.
At some point the plan is to get it framed.
______________

That’s about it for today sports fans, Thanks for stopping by, for your continued kindnesses and sweet comments!!

Take Care,
edgar

  14. Congratulations Edgar!! What a great way to start the new year with that wonderful finish!! Did you feel remorse when you finished it? I found mine like a good book that I didn't want to finish (although that grass was a doozey!). I'll bet that whatever you pick to stitch next will seem so small compared to ATS!

    1. What an amazing finish! I love how you took pics of the separate parts and then showed the completed piece...that really showed the details of this beauty. I'd happy dance for you but my form of dancing is more like "break" dancing....break a hip, a leg, a lamp, the chandelier. LOL.
So what's up next in Edgar's stitching basket?

  23. Hi Edgar,
Congratulations on finishing this BA beauty! How long did it take you to stitch it?
I would like to have this piece in my stash but at the price the chart is currently going I can't justify this for myself ... although I've heard that it's going OOP soon - decisions :-)!
I'm looking forward to your "framed" picture!
    Kind greetings,

  34. Congratulations on finishung ATS, it is really stunning. My favourite section is the bottom because of all the little animals - though I´m sure the solid stitching on grass was hard work!

  44. Oh Edgar it's just gorgeous! You did such a great job! That pattern is languishing in my stash, I just don't have it in me to start it. I know what you mean about the cold, to think how long our summer went on down here and now we're getting freezing cold weather, it was 26 at my house yesterday morning, so weird for Southern California.

But the urge passed and I just enjoyed your progress. Can't wait to see how you frame it and where it will hang among your other samplers.
