Basket o' WIP's

Gentle Friends thanks for all you comments on my last post - since I hadn't touched a needle in a day or so I was at a loss for Post fodder....  today  (or it should have been yesterday's post... but for a computer issue that took forever to fix) I though since I had quite  few questions as to what was next on the agenda after ATS, I though i would go through the old WIP Basket and take a look.

Probably my oldest WIP is ....

This piece, Mary Beale's "Sampler Wreath."  I am not sure what it is about this piece that I am at a loss to finish, but for some reason It languishes there not getting attention.  Next up would have to be.....

Heartstring Samplery's "On the Oregon Trail," again I love the piece but just let it sit......  The third piece in pile is......

The Scarlet Letter's "Mary Ann Hutton's Sampler" - Although I put this down to work on ATS, I never forgot about her, and think this is the next piece to pop out and get my full attention.....  The last real WIP is my New Years Day start, Carriage House Samplings - "Autumn at Hawk Run Hallow....

________________

Now for the other two piece that are in the basket, and are sort of WIP's....

The first "sort of" WIP is Jardin Prive's "Sampler aux Bouquets I.II and III" I have started to convert the DMC floss choices to over dyed choices, but have yet to decide on the linen......  the second piece is.....

This super piece, Blackbird Designs "Anniversaries of the Heart" and all I've done here is buy the linen, charts and quite a bit ofthe floss, but as of yet no stitching.

There you go, my WIP's - I don't lie to many things not getting worked on, and try to limit the WIP pouches top the size of the WIP Basket.....

A Longaberger "Magazine" Basket

Although not my basket I use one just like it - and I know that if I didn't have this basket I am sure that my WIP's would be totally "Out of Control!!"
____________

That's about it for today sports fans, thanks again for stopping by, do stop again!!

Take care,
edgar

  2. Nice WIP collection! I think my favorite is the one by Scarlet Letter. You really don't have too much to go on it.
I hate to see how many WIP's are in my basket.
To be honest...I'm afraid to look!

  3. I agree, I think Mary Ann would be a good place to start. You are so close to done on that one. The Mary Beal piece looks like it wouldn't take much either. I have that same basket and we use it as our travel basket to put reading material and snacks in for the car.

  4. What a treat to see your WIPs!!! I love them all! You have great taste in projects. Love your WIP basket too -- again, great taste. Looking forward to seeing you work on some of these. (I have that BBD Anniversaries of the Heart in exactly the same condition. lol!)

  5. Some really pretty WIPs going on there! I plan to work on AotH some this year, and have AHRH but don't think it will be this year... Look forward to seeing which ones you choose!

  6. I can see why the Mary Ann Hutton might claim your attention next but I find all your WIPs so intriguing that I'd be hard put to make a choice.

  7. Lots of wonderful WIPs, Edgar! Love that wreath one and it looks like you have not much more to go. The SL one is a beauty and one on my own list. Are you doing it for Nicola's Scarlet Letter Year Challenge? You could jump right in with that one!

  8. Edgar, if you're going to stitch the Scarlet Letter design why don't you join in with Nicola's Scarlet Letter challenge. You'll find the details on Stitching by a Cornish Seashore or Nicola's Scarlet Letter Challenge blog - both links are on my blog if you want to find them. She is offering some lovely prizes and it's a really fun challenge - it's great to see what others are stitching. I think you would enjoy it.

  11. I am wondering how you ever put the sampler wreath down before it was completed? Pick it up and finish! (my version of a swift kick in the seat)

  12. What a putz. I've been searching for the comment gadget and finally found it right under the post title. Where have I been??? Anyway, that wreath is my absolute favorite and so different. Mary Ann was just put on my list. Congratulations on the ATS finish. Such an accomplishment.

  16. Edgar,
I haven't been following your blog for long, but am so glad I found it as you are a wonderful stitcher!

Why don't you work on the wreath and the Oregon Trail pieces one day each for the week and then the rest of the week, work on the WIP of your choice. That way you know you're getting them done, but don't have devote 100% of your time to them as they aren't quite "working"!

I can't wait to see what you show us next.

  17. Looks like we are on the same page with our Blackbird Designs "Anniversaries of the Heart" project. I had committed to stitch one design per month for this project, but January is quickly flying by and so far I haven't touched this. I do have my charts, linen and fibers at the ready. Can't wait to see yours come to life, Edgar.

  18. I have a friend who started that wreath--wonder how far along she is? Gotta ask! So, that's all your WIPs, huh? I have to check mine-I may have about the same number. I just finished one of mine, so will post about it soon. Yay! It was quickly replaced by another, of course! But you should see my projects waiting to be started, that are partially kitted! Holey Moley! Ah well, it is my most favorite thing to do! Hugs!

  20. Congratulations on finishing ATS, it is absolutely gorgeous!

As for your SL piece you need to join Nicola's SL SAL for 2013 for her 50th birthday.

I also, have sitting in my WIP box Autumn at Hawks Hollow - lets have a SAL with this???!!!

  21. All of the WIPs are so lovely, and most look so close to being finished.

  22. What lovely WIPs. I love that sampler wreath, it is so different and unusual, and you are so near to being finished on it. If I were you that is the one I'd go for next. (If it's the slightly unfortunate doughnut cushion shape that is putting you off - I'll forbear from saying what it reminds me of - then you could find a round frame for it and it would look stunning)

  23. Edgar, you have some great wips in your basket! The sampler wreath is pretty and very different from our normal stuff. Also I love your samplers. I still drool when I look at your autumn at hrh. I am thinking next time to a LNS I need to find linen for this beauty. Then, it will be another HRH marathon for me. LOL.

  27. Some beautiful projects to finish. Since I design much of my own cross stitch my WIPs are mostly on my laptop. I currently have 3 quilts to finish and then a Halloween cross-stitch to start. Welcome 2013.
