Another Weekend Whoooshes Bye-Bye!!

Gentle Readers and Dear Friends  - there was no storm, nary a drop of rain or a flicker of flash from anywhere in or over the City on Friday evening.  There was plenty in the South and East Bay, but SF was just a bit windy and cool.  Oh, well - that was a bust - I love storms and weather you can see and feel.  I miss those big storms I knew from the south - heavily large electrical flashes of light crackling across the sky with sheets and sheets of rain.  I have given that up for the cool damp fog and the cold days that we have here are just fine with me!!.
__________

This weekend we spent running our usual errands - but let me start off with a bit of stitching - I worked a little on SoHRH and here it is as of last night -

I finished up the sails, but will hold off on the rigging until the entire piece is complete as they are just long stitches and will probably not hold up to being snapped in and out of a Q-Snap.  I also moved on the last row and square 9 - which is probably one of my favorite on this piece.  I still need to work out what words I want in square 8 and what I want the pennant and flag to look like, but there is plenty of time for that.
__________

One of the errands we worked on was finding the who-hound chow they like.  We went to just about every Pet Place in the city looking for a particular kind of food and finally found it at the South City Pet Smart.

The Blue Buffalo is pretty easy to find (when you find it) but the Simply Nourish was a brand no one had even heard of or seen.  We had gotten some from a co-worker of Rico's,  her hound did not like it but our babies just about tore my arm off loving the stuff.  Come to find out that it is a Pet Smart exclusive - not that the label tells you that (which I think is dumb!!) but I am happy, the who hounds are happy  - and all is right in our world once again.  We buy different kinds so that they can have variety and I usually mix them together or with other bits of steak or chicken  - I know, I know they are terribly spoiled - what can I do??  They even like the cheapo Mighty Dog - I look on that as sort of who-hound fast food.
_________

We did have some drama in Noe Valley on Saturday afternoon - a pretty big fire -

These are snaps I took form our house  - the fires was down on 24th Street - the shop at street level was a Radio Shack and above where Flats.  We have not heard what was the cause or anything else.  From what we could see it looked pretty bad.
__________
We got to some estate sales all I picked up was this pile.....

I found these two boxes of recipes and the few older cookbooks on a shelf and for a $1 how could I pass them up.  I love old recipes and have been going through these finding some real treasures!!
__________

I think I will leave off today with this snap....

Lil Smokie has graduated from his little box to a Big Boy Bed - on his own he chased the girls out and has taken over their bed - I think he thinks he is a tough dog now, but this little devil it totally cute here!!

There you go sports fans, thanks for stopping by!!  Do come again!

  4. You made pretty good progress on your Shores piece. My doggie eats dry food - can't eat the soft stuff...funny how they are all different just like people. What a cutie in the bed all curled up and he looks pretty tuckered.

How cool is the recipie boxes with handwritten recipies. I think that is a great find, along with the books.

    Have a great week, Edgar!!

  5. I like the fabric of the Shores piece and your stitching is pretty darn nice. What a pic of Smokie. They look so sweet and innocent when they're sleeping, but then the eyes open and look out!

  6. I can even begin to tell you the amount of hours spent searching for just the right cat food. This bunch is into the new Friskie's "Tasty Treasures", but who knows what it will be next week.
Love your work on "Shores". One of my favorites on my To-Do list. Also on that list is to finish watching your "Upstairs-Downstairs" DVDs and return them for you. I feel like I am abusing your generousity.

  11. Aw, you lil who hound is adorable. You have to spoil your babies!! Nice progress on Hawk Run Hollow. Looks like it will be an epic piece! And nice haul from the estate sales! I haven't attempted to go to one yet, but I asked a gf of mine to maybe join me in seeking one out to see what we can find. She just moved back to Vancouver after spending two years in LA so she needs to decorate her house :D

    Cheers!!

  12. If you look hard enough, you can see through the cute to the tough guy that Smokie really is (the cute hides it really well though). Great finds at the estate sales - love old recipes. Your SoHRH looks great - waiting too see what you've come up for it.
