Commenting on Comments and Mural Snaps

GR&DF thank you once again for your very kind encouragement and well wishes!!!

Last night was a bust for stitching and flickers as I wasn't up for either and just passed into coma land with a hound in the stitching chair - not a pretty sight!!! After I snored myself awake at about 9:45pm I clicked off the the downstairs and shuffled on off to bed. I hope I am not getting sick or something.

I wanted to respond to some comments and answer some questions.......

Beth asked about my opening - GR&DF - for me it stands for - Gentle Readers and Dear Friends - I just like that way that sounds and the feeling of camaraderie I have for you my group of stitching buds.

Berit asked about SABLE - Stash Above and Beyond Life Expectancy - I reached that a good long while ago - so I figure why should I hang on to charts that I have finished that I will not use again - I should just pass them on...... keep watching for more things.

Colleen asked about my having a Give Away so soon - just passing along and sharing with others - there will be more.....

Sherry aka Celtic Dreamweaver mentioned a sampler I did about a year ago. The chart comes from an OOP French Magazine I had no way of getting and Julianne very generously loaned me her copy. Here is a snap of my finished piece - I remember I did change up the floss - it was charted for DMC and I changed it to GAST and WDW over dyed.


Patti mentioned wishing she had joined in on the Quaker AEoL RR. I do love doing RR's and group stitching projects. They are easy to organize and there will be others as this RR winds up at the beginning of June.

Maggie finished seeing the Thin Man Series - they are super movies - I really enjoy the teaming of William Powell and Myrna Loy - they play so well together!!! I highly recommend themas a group or individually.

Another film mentioned was "Pacific Heights" - 1990 - by Glenna - I have never seen this movie but will throw it on my queue to watch.

A Little Stitching, a Couple of Flicks more Murals and a Drawing

GR&DF what nice comments about everything!!! Yes, the home is pretty incredible - and the history that surrounds it..... first built as a single family home, in the 30's it was broken into a warren of apartments and stayed that way for decades - then brought back to a single home - while always retaining many of the original bits. Nanaknit asked if it was one of the famous Painted Ladies that are on Alamo Square - it is not one of them, but sits a block or so down from them and predates them by about 10 years.

I have been stitching along on AlphaBlocks and AEoL RR - up first would be my finished section on the RR -


This is Margaret's and it is really coming along beautifully - The floss that she chose is a gorgeous red over dyed by Threadworx. Ready for the mail next week.

As you can see I have finished most of the rose bud things and most of the black blocks on the fourth line - not too exciting, but necessary. Even though I am still really liking this piece I am looking ahead to the Sheepish Designs sampler start........ How crazy is that!! I need to get a grip - as I still have to do the fill on the open blocks here. I guess that's what keeps us stitching away - the next project!

There have been many flicks over the Holidays - I did want to mention a few. First up would have to be "Evelyn Prentice" - 1934 - starring William Powell and Myrna Loy. A top rate film with the stars not play Nic and Nora Charles. The plot revolves around neglected rich wife and a murder. Everything about the film is good, costumes, photography, acting, dialogue. If you like William and Myrna (and who doesn't) then this is a film you should enjoy. Second up would be "Love Nest" - 1951 - starring June Haver, William Lundigan and a small part played by Marilyn Monroe. A cute if predictable film - returning Army Vet finds his wife has bought a dilapidated Apartment Building - and then an old Army buddy - Marilyn Monroe - moves in. The third film is "Strangers When we Meet" - 1960 - starring Kirk Douglas, Kim Novak, Ernie Kovacs, Barbara Rush and Walter Matthau. Infidelity in the suburbs - or sacrificing everything for love. An interesting film with some pretty good acting. I think one of the best things about this film are the cars that are shown - not as any plot vehicle but just in the outside scenes - really spectacular!! A little sappy a times but I kind of enjoyed this film.

I was thinking over the Holiday that I have way too many things to stitch - in fact I probably have double SABLE - and why am I hanging on to charts and things I have already stitched???? With that in mind I also thought there may be some out there that missed the JCS Issue with the TiTD Sampler Chart. I thought it might be nice to have a small drawing for the JCS Magazine. -

This is a snap of my finished sampler in its old frame and the JCS Issue - so if you would like this copy of JCS to make your own TiTD Sampler - just leave a comment on this post before this Friday 1/8. A little Stash and a crappy flick!!

GR&DF thank you for the nice comments about TiTD Sampler. It was a great sampler to stitch up and now with Hetty starting I can still enjoy stitching on a sampler. I think that samplers are such fun things - and I have a ton of them in the stash binders. Yesterday the mail brought some fun things - Here is a snap -

I was so happy to get them, not that I needed a single thing extra to stitch!! The Swan Pond Sampler I saw mentioned on another Blog (I can not remember where) and immediately called up Dixie Darlin and got me a copy. Of the new BBBD releases this one I knew I needed along with the La-D-Da piece. The two Tree of Life Samplings pieces are just great. Even with the bit of controversy over the second wording on the second piece.... I just love them both!! I know that there is a third release coming soon and I can't wait.

I did have a question about the linen I used - I think Gaynor was asking about the Meadowlark and where I got it - That linen came from Needle in a Haystack, and the Fog from Picture this Plus not Silkwevers came directly from PTP. You can call NiaH directly and if it is stock they can send you some as they are very helpful.

The flickers I have been watching are still Upstairs Downstairs and am wrapping up the Third Season in the next day or so and really enjoying rewatching them all. I did want to mention a flicker we tried to watch over the weekend. It was the remake of "The Women" 2008 - it was on HBO and so Rico wanted to give it a try...... after about 18 mins we turned it off - the poor acting, mis casting and just all around suck picture was more than we could stand. What ever possessed them to remake this film, after the complete catastrophe of a poor remake - "The Opposite Sex" - 1956 - is just beyond my comprehension. The Opposite Sex is not good, but fun and no where as bad the this newest version!!! We popped the DVD in of the far superior version of 1939 and thoroughly enjoyed that!! Do not even waste you time with the 2008 Women!!

A Bunch of Stuff with a Bunch of Snaps!

GR&DF how is that for a title! It was one of our regular weekends with no drama and no stress. Just busy with weekend things.

Let me begin with a finish and happy jig!! I put everything aside and focused all the stitching on TiTD Sampler - and she is now finished - here is a snap...

I really enjoyed this piece - except for all that white stitching - that did get a bit tedious. I shifted some of the colours from the recommended - it is stitched on a BoF 36ct "Meadowlark" piece of linen. I was looking through the stash box of linen and I have quite a bit of Meadowlark.... I guess I sort of like the stuff!! I also started another sampler - Hetty Child - and here is the tiny bit I got stitched -

This is actually the second start of this piece. I started the first one on another piece of linen. I was stitching away and just couldn't wrap my head around the linen's colour and count so I pulled it all out and began again on this piece - 32 ct "Fog" from Silkweavers. This piece I have changed all the DMC floss' to Belle Soie Silks. I like stitching so much better in silk and BS is always a winner!!

We also went shopping - to Japan Town, to the Farmers Market and Estate/Garage Sales. There were a few things to get at the Estate/Garage Sales .... and a snap...


I found a great old Thermos - I have been looking for one for the longest time and this $1 find was just the ticket! I also found a frame and a 2 cup measure - along with the two icons and books I spent less than $8 - now, you can't beat that with a stick!! The Hallowe'en light I found in a thrift store for $2 - now how's that for buying back your childhood. Here it is with a light in it -

What is so crazy is that at the Antique Fair we went to a couple of weeks ago I saw a few of these - and those where all priced at $30+ - so this was a bargain. It is dated 1969 and looks pretty good. Keeping with the Hallowe'en theme Rico got the hounds "costumes" out and before they could get away they got dressed up - here is a snap of that -

Aren't they having a ball!! Well, at least we had a good chuckle and the second they got down they were both pulling off their costumes -
Shopping yesterday included a visit to the Farmers Market at the Civic Center - and of course I got some snaps of there...




The Fall things are looking beautiful!!

We also ran over to Japan Town - here is a snap of the Peace Tower and some Fall foliage...

I didn't find what I was looking for - but I did pick up some new incense -

It is a new kind for me and is Sandalwood - the guy at the incense shop suggested this brand. It is very good!! I like the more woodsy- spicy incenses.

We did have the drawing picking the winner of the Sail Away Chart - as with all drawings here at the Sheep - we had the Hag Claw draw from the BoD....... now, with the crazy Peach watching - it draws forth a name.......

and that name is.....

A Sail Away Treat and an Exchange Arrives

GR&DF I am so happy to see so many throwing in for the Sail Away Drawing (yesterdays post) it is a great piece to stitch. Yesterday the mail brought a real treat and another super memento for the Sail Away SAL - Loraine kindly made needle books for all the participants and I received mine yesterday. Here are 2 snaps...

and here is the inside with the cute boat applique. I have inserted the scissors I attached the Sail Away Fob that Terri made us and I have a complete SAL treasure!! Thank you ladies both for the great experience, the fun and the keeping me sort of on track!!

I had the sweetest email this morning from Marie, my HOE Hallowe'en Exchange partner,
that she received the package I sent her. Here is a snap -

I stitched up a standing Pyn Keepe. The pattern is from the BBD booklet - Trix of Treat and is called Trix or Treat. It is a chart I have wanted to do for so long and just never had the chance - This was the perfect time - it is stitched on 28ct BOF Sandpiper linen using the recommended floss'. The treats I sent along were just fun things of the season - I had a great time as always making this exchange and Marie like everything so all is well!!

Last night I worked almost exclusively on TiTD Sampler - no snap.... so whats up with me being so lax!! I am working along the bottom filling in all the white background stitching behind the numbers - it is pretty tedious and I am not sure why?? I usually like this kind of stitching - the only thing I can think of is that it is a mottled white floss and I do not like stitching white!! I will get a snap today so you can see the progress. I will finish up my exchange ornie this weekend and get that out next week - I think it is really cute and I hope my partner likes it!!

I finished up watching "The Moonstone" - 1972 and BBC production shown over here on Masterpiece Theatre. The story is a Victorian whodunit type with a very convoluted story. It is a 5 part series - I watched the first three parts this weekend on Disc I - Entertaining and well done as are all the BBC things - but a bit drawn out for my taste. I also got a couple more Upstairs Downstairs in and they where more satisfying by far!!

Just in passing - I sit here at my computer all day listening to Internet radio and often listen to those stations that play standard songs from the 30's through the 50's (surprise, surprise) and have really taken to a new singer out there I had never heard of, his name is Julian Yeo,(this will take you to his home page). At the bottom of this page you can listen to him sing "C'est Si Bon" and then "Too Close for Comfort" from his new album. The album they play lots from is his debut album called "Old New Borrowed Blue" and is just full of great songs. I really enjoy his phrasing and interpretation of songs - his publicist calls it a "new - old" approach. If you get the chance you should give him a try!!

A Gift, A Give-A-Way and a Gully Washer

GR&DF it's Tuesday and I pushed it a bit on the title - sometimes I just haven't a clue as to what to head this sucker with. At some point I know I will break and just put nothing, but until that time I will keep trying for the clever and descriptive - :)

Yesterday the delivery guy brought me a Birthday Gift from a dear sweet friend that already does so much!! We all know and Love dear Vonna - she sent me a great gift box of goodies from Dillman Farm in Bloomington IN.


Included in the box is some Apple Butter (a favorite of mine), some Strawberry Jam (yummy) and two kinds of fudge - can you go wrong with any kind of fudge!!
What a great way to wrap up a Birthday!!

Keeping with a friends sort of Blog today - I wanted to have a small Give-a-way - As you saw yesterday I have finished up Sail Away - this was also a gift from a dear friend - Becky - a while back. Made even more special by doing it with a group of friends as a SAL!! I want to make a gift of the Instructions and chart to a stitcher out there that might want to kit it up their self.


Here is a snap of everything including the remaining silks - there really isn't enough of any one colour - but you can get the idea of the colours required if you wanted to use some other floss. It is in very good condition as I always stitch from copies of the chart and not the original charts. So, if you would like this copy of Sail Away to stitch - and it is a great stitch!! - just leave a comment on this post before this Friday, October 16th at 3 PM PST. I will have the Hag Claw draw from the BOD (Bowl of Destiny) and announce the winner next Monday.

My stitching for the last couple of nights had been throwing a couple of strands of floss at TiTD and working on my exchanges. I do love them so but they do seem to stack up don't they!!!

The flickers on the tube have been that superior BBC series - Upstairs Downstairs and not I Claudius. When I was standing in front of the DVD's looking for IC I saw the UD set and thought "I hadn't seen that in a while." So off the shelf it came and I am working my way through the 4th Disc. The complete series is 81 episodes so it will take me a while to get to the end. Rico gave me the whole series a few years back and I watched it then but haven't in a while so I am very excited to rewatch them. I was also poking around on the Internet yesterday and found that they are in production for a 2nd UP series which follows Rose the house parlor maid a few years later into another position as a Housekeeper. It should bee airing next spring (I think) in the UK and eventually here in the States - I can't wait!!! If you have never seen the series I would highly recommend it. Each episode can be watched individually but it is always better to see it from the begging. To watch the progression through the years and see how all the characters develop.

Last but not least - we are in the midst of our first big storm of the season - a bit early - but a total downpour right now!! Here is a snap of it rolling in over the city last night.....

This was the last bit of sunlight breaking through from the west and hitting the buildings of downtown SF - aren't the clouds lovely!!

Bada Bing - Bada BOOM!!

GR&DF - that was the sound of my computer not working yesterday when I got in to work. Heaven only knows what was up with this evil box of magic but I just couldn't make it open up and play nice. So I was at a loss to post any kind of anything - It just bit the big one!!! I tried off and on for a couple of hours and at about 8:30 the monster decided to work, but by that time I was not only behind in everything - I was unable to get any kind of post up - so sorry.

The weekend - or I should say the couple of days leading up to the weekend were really warm - our weather here in the City is usually very cool or comfortable, but sometimes we get the unusual heat wave and that was what was going on. Thursday and Friday, but especially Friday was the warmest of the three days - in the low 90's in some parts of the City. By Saturday morning you could tell the winds had shifted and by the afternoon our natural air-conditioning was back on and the fog was rolling in!!!

Saturday found us running around again in Dales Jeep with the top off (I wore a hat so no scalp burn) and finding quite a few treasures. Here is a snap -

Not as great a pile as some weeks but some nice pickins - I got a small planter, a tack hammer in the size I had been looking for - a great 3x5 flag, a nice old wood painted darning egg, a couple of DVD's and a sweet sterling frame with a picture of baby Freddie at 6 months old - it says so on the back of the picture - I cleaned that sucker up a little and the silver is a bright as if new it where a new frame - it was black when I bought it from the thrift store.

On Sunday we ran over to Eddies for breakfast and then stopped by the little farmers market over there. Here are a couple of nice market shots -

There where some beautiful heirloom tomatoes from Garcia Farms.....

and there was a new bakers stand at the Market - Bakers of Paris from Brisbane - their gorgeous bread was so tempting and....

so were the pastries - in fact they where so tempting we caved and got an apricot danish for Rico and I got a chocolate croissant. We also picked up a...

sweet baguette with seeds - the staff of life!! (sweet does not mean that the bread is sweet it only means that it is not made with sour dough - they have both sweet and sour breads)

Walking back to the car from the market we passed a small shop that had really interesting front windows - with a nautical theme...on the left was....

with a tiny mermaid floating in that glass ..... and on the right was this sculptural piece....

It was hard to get a decent snap but you can see how interesting she is. I enjoy just walking around different neighborhoods as you see the most interesting things in the windows.

On the stitching front I heard from Faye that the ornament I made for her had arrived. I knew that she likes Quakery things and she is from NC - so I thought why not combine the two - and I knew the perfect chart ... here is what I made for her -

It is called "Quaker Small" by Praiseworthy Stitches - two red birds and a great Quakery motif - you just can't beat that with a stick!!! I used Belle Soie silks on 32ct mystery linen. I made one of these for myself last year and just love it!! Faye says that she is very happy with the piece!!
I also finished up the stitching on Sail Away -

Here it is with only day light illumination - It is just chugging along - I loved stitching the three long bands - the repetitive in and out of the needle is so relaxing. Now on to the next part!!

Another piece I worked on was TiTD - and here is that progress....

I got the tree done and some of the fruit and leaves on - I need to get the letters and numbers on so that I can start that long and tedious filling in with the white.

I will skip the flickers today as this has gone on long enough.

Will there ever be a balcony

GR&DF yesterday brought more balcony issues - as you know our balcony was removed back in February - yes February - 7 or so months ago. From the 2nd week of February up to about 3 weeks ago our sliding glass door was sealed and 2/3rds boarded over in a crappy condemned building kind of way. 3 weeks ago the door was uncovered and finally the property owners were getting to our balcony replacement. Now, we had been promised that it would be done and finished by the end of the second week of August - I, of course knew better and said at the time "I'll believe it when I see it!!" Of course the 14th of the month came and went and it wasn't completed. Yesterday we come home to our new and improved balcony railing in pieces all over the parking lot - not only were they going in the opposite direction about getting this project done but had actually broken up the new railings. By about 6 pm the railings where soldered back together, screwed onto the building and sprayed black - but that just puts us back to where we where on the 17th..... I would bet money its another month before they say we can use the damn thing again!!!! Bitter, table for one!!!!

Stitching last night was again on TiTD - I know I should have been working on the Sail Away piece but I wanted to finish up the house. Here is a snap of the finished house and what could possibly pass a a black pidge.....

I will start up the next section on Sail Away tonight. I don't want to get to behind.

Yesterday was Farmers Market Day and I have a couple of snaps of
the bounty that was out -

There was a ton of eggplants out - I passed on all of them - as Rico wont eat them and I only like them in a couple of very specific dishes - oh well - they were spectacular in color and volume. Here is another snap -


Aren't these some gorgeous peppers!! They were piles of them in many of the booths. My shopping was confined to my usual things, nectarines, tomatoes, string beans, Brussels sprouts - and of course a bag of the salty sweet crack we know fondly as Kettle Korn!! I also got a dozen lovely brown eggs from the new egg vendor. I cooked up some and made egg salad last night. So today I have egg salad for lunch - How bazaar is that piece of information!! :)

The flick last night I wanted to mention was a TV adaptation of "Great Expectations" - 1974 - starring Michael York as the adult Pip and Sarah Miles, James Mason, Robert Morley and Anthony Quayle. A very low key version of the Dickens novel. It was an adequate version but far from spectacular - for spectacular I would look to the David Lean version of the same title done in 1946. The 46 version is so far superior in acting, photography and adaptation it is almost a different story. But, as always these are just my humble opinions - if you like Dickens stick to the 46 version.

Some Cakes a House and a Fox

GR&DF here we are again at mid week, and not only is it
Farmers Market Day but it is only 2 more days to the weekend!! :)

On the way home yesterday we stopped off at the store
and I just couldn't pass up these beauties-

I think that Madeleines are just about the best cookie/cake around!!
Just a delicious bite of lite pound cake. One of my favorite things.

Last nights stitching was my working on TiTD -
getting bit done on the house and here is a snap of that progress -


I am really enjoying this sampler very much. I am thinking I always want to have some kind of traditional sampler going all the time - and I have quite a few in the stash pile. The next one I think I will stitch was sent to me by a dear reader of this blog - It is called Hetty Child and is one I have been wanting to do for a long time - I am not going to stitch it in the recommended DMC floss' but in Bell Soie silks - and now I am trying to figure out which colours to use and substitute. Since there is only 7 colours in all it will not be too much trouble.

The 3rd Round of the Prairie Schooler Exchange piece has reached my partner - Nicola.

This is called Fox and Grapes and has been in my stash for a long time. I used DMC floss but not the recommended colours as they were a bit off - or at least I thought so - the biggest change was the house colour - It is charted out in an off white - I did not like that so now it is light blue. I have wanted to do this for such a long time and this was the perfect opportunity.

Last night was a double feature DVD evening - starting off with "Hocus Pocus" - 1993 - starring Bette Midler, Kathy Nijimi and Sarah Jessica Parker. I have loved this film for years and seen it many, many times. I know it has its detractors and nay sayers but I think they forget a few things.... first off - it is Disney, secondly it is for kids and it is not to be taken seriously or be historically correct by any stretch of the imagination!!! It is a fun, clever Halloween Flick that is lots of fun - and I totally recommend seeing it !! The second flick of the evening was "Canterbury Tale" - 1944 - from the film making team of Powell/Pressburger - A wonderful look at England on the eve of D-Day - using the stories of three very different characters to propel the movie froward - it is not a love story - yet all three have unhappy loves in their lives - it is not a typical mystery - yet there is a mysterious figure and situation. Beautifully filmed in and around Canterbury and the Cathedral - at a little over 2 hours this slow paced film moves along at a very nice pace telling its own story.

The Last Week of August begins...

Another fun weekend is over and here we are at the end of August - can you believe that summer is over and the best part of the year is almost here!! The Fall of the year is my favorite time of the year followed closely by Winter. Living here is this micro climate year round without much change in the weather it often feels wintry or fallish most of the time - and with the fog rolling in all summer long I forget that there are temps reaching into the 100's just 30 mins from the city - when I think of those roasting in the San Joachim Valley I thank my lucky stars I am here wearing shivering in a sweatshirt.

This weekend started off on a high note with dinner on Friday evening.... we ordered a pizza from one of our favorite places - Haystack Pizza -

Not only is this place about 2 mins from our house but they deliver!! Which means I don't have to take off my slippers or go out into the cold dark night!! This is what we usually order - the Haystack - and it was very tasty. Usually ordering on a Friday night it can take an hour or more to get a pizza from here but this one got to us in about 25 mins - I guess we hit it just right!!!

On Saturday we did our usual thing and ran around to the estate and garage sales - and here is my haul for the week end - will I never learn!! :)


As you can see it was a kitchen heavy collection this week - starting in the top left - I acquired a Pampered Chef Gingerbread House mold, a Blue Willow tray, a push potato masher, a fluted pastry wheel/ravioli cutter, a couple of tea diffusers, 3 Indian tree plates - a commemorative mug from 1969 when Prince Charles was made Prince of Wales, a cute little angle with a trumpet, a few little Christmas ornies - a Dr Seuss Book - leaning against the Blue Willow tray is a copy of a 10th Century Ivory Plaque - German - of "Christ in Majesty" - the original is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Not too bad for not much cash. We spent the whole day out running around eventually we ended up in the mission so we stopped at Los Jallitos for a delicious lunch.

On Sunday morning we did our usual running around which includes a visit to the grocery store, gassing up the car and running the car through the car wash (at someone else's insistence as I could care less if the car ever got washed and think it is a waste of time, water and money - but I wont bitch and be bitter :) )

When we got home we checked on the last baby pidge since the mama stink eye and the two older babies where off some where pooping on something. Looking into the flower box we saw it was empty - now this baby is way to young to fly off since she still has her pin feathers and is fat but small - then all we could think of was she had fallen out..... I ran in the house and grabbed a big wire bamboo strainer thing and then downstairs to see if I could find her. She was cowering in the corner scared all to pieces. I slowly came up and she started flapping and peeping and running around .... so there I was chasing this crazy flapping peeping baby pidge around in the yard below our apartment. Eventually after trying to grab/trap/contain this frightened little bundle of feathers I got her cornered and picked her up and got her back into the box. She snuggled up tight against the box and seemed fine. Before I went off to bed I checked and the three other pidges where back and all crammed into the box - so all is well with the pidge family.

I did get some stitched on TiTD - here is a snap -

It is coming along just fine - It is a really nice stitch - sorry the picture is such crap - but it was late when I took the picture and the light was super bad.

Wednesday go to Market

GR&DF - once again you brighten my day with your kind comments!!! I do thank you for your indulgence of my dip into the cup that is insanity -
but you just have to break loose every now and then. :)

Today is the Farmers Market - which means farm fresh veggies and fruits and I was told this morning to get some more Kettle Korn - so I better not come home without a bag!!

Not too much going on yesterday -
a visit to Trader Joe's last night and dinner a la Micky Dee's - so quick, so easy.

The flicker for the evening was a big star studded "drama" - "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" - 2004 - starring Kathy Bates, Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, F Murray Abraham, Geraldine Chaplin - a beautifully photographed and gorgeously costumed film - I think it fell far short of where it could have gone. It was very slow paced, I think building to the climax that was more fizzle than pop. The narrator was Gabriel Byrne as a Jesuit Priest investigating a rope bridge accident - I can't say too much as anything said would end up being a spoiler. I will say that for a rainy afternoons viewing or just to see Kathy Bates in this film it is worth the trouble. I enjoyed it but would not go out of my way to see it again.

I also worked on TiTD - again on the lawn - here is a pretty boring snap -


That lump is where the tree will sprout. Tonight I will probably start on part three of Sail Away, but then again I may just finish out the lawn on TiTD - who knows what the mood will be in 12 hours....... such mystery.

And we have a winner....

...but first there must be the ceremony of the BOD - (bowl of Destiny) - an icy - sparkly - miracle of light and fire - yet no chihuahua was harmed whilst dancing....... the fog clears and out from the mist come our sniffing Who-Hounds. Around and around they go....... then into the bowl for the decision......

...yet they were hesitant - and why we ask????? no thumbs - silly - so from the misty nether regions comes forth a hags claw - from whence did this horror occur? Yet into the sparkle and fire dipped the claw..... pulling forth.... a paper on which a single name has been scibbled. The mysterious HC (hag claw) doth present the winner -


We must now leave the worn and slumbering chi's....

His Imperial Snackasaurusness - Pete - while lolling about he thinks upon which item he must wet before sleep comes - or - in other circles - he is wont to utter "That better be a piece of ham, or there'll be trouble!!"

The flicker for the evening "Autumn Hearts: A New Beginning" - 2007 - the title in the USA - Released elsewhere as "Emotional Arithmetic" - a Canadian film that is full of beautiful crane shots and vistas. Starring Susan Sarandon, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer and Gabriel Byrne. A film about a reunion of deportation camp survivors and the residual emotional baggage each carries after 35 years. Not a happy film - but a thought provoking piece about a noy so nice piece of WWII history with a story line that plods along at a steady clip clop.
