A Little Gothic

Gentle Friends,  we stopped at St Dominick's on our way over to Japan Town and although I posted about this lovely church before, let's revisit.....

... the wonderful church was established in 1873...
the present church was begun in 1923 and finished up in 1928...

... a snap on the nave with the single hammerbeam ceiling, such a wonderful space....

... another wonderful Tudor arched, with hammerbeams... this is the lovely Lady Chapel that sits to the right of the main altar...

 ... the high alter...

... this super window is of "Christ Triumphant Over Death."  It faces East and catches all the morning and early afternoon sun!!  I would highly recommend a visit to this great space if ever you get to SF.

What a great space! I love how the stained glass windows sizing and top arch detail echoes/pairs the arches below. (My jargon and terminology is sadly lacking for discussing the points I wish to mention.) A super place--thanks for sharing!
