1925 at the Abbey Comes and Goes

Gentle Friends, I had pre-ordered the Blu-Ray of the Final Season of Downton Abbey, it arrived and we spent the weekend watching show after show with it wrapping up last night....

Downton Abbey Getting Ready for Another Wedding
A shot of the Cast from the Christmas Show Season 6

...  yes, I am sad to see it end and I could have gone on watching Season after Season, but I guess it is better to wrap up a good thing than wait for it to "jump the Shark" as they say.   I'm not sure about the negative things I've read about the 6th Season or what was so very bad about it - and  I'll not break any spoilers here, but I will say we thoroughly enjoyed each show with all the twist, turns and little intrigues and we will certainly go back ad re-watch all the Seasons.

  1. We have seen it season after season and enjoyed thoroughly. In Portugal season 6 has aired and gone and now we have to wait for the DVD's to see it all again from the beginning. I would not mind to be Dowager Countess when I grow up :-).

  2. Savoring every minute of the last season on PBS. I'll be sad to see it go. Not too sure how I feel about Season 6 so far. Lady Mary seems even nastier and snobbier then before, and I don't like that.
I wish BBC would make a "pre-quel"...maybe Cora and Robert's early married life. Or better yet, VIOLET'S life story.

  6. I agree Edgar. I like it when the writer knows when to stop!! I have all the seasons on DVD and I am waiting to purchase season 6 until it finishes the run on PBS. I am sure we will hear more from Julian Fellowes.

  8. The Christmas episode here in the uk saw all the loose ends tied up and ended how a long standing series should be. It was so very enjoyable.

  10. I received my copy last week, I said I would watch just two episodes a night, (upstairs, husband does not like) So I went upstairs ( husband fell asleep on sofa, leave him there) and watched all six remaining episodes. That would be 10-4am. I cried during last two episodes, nothing really bad just sad things. Some many of us I bet can relate to.....I agree it is best to go out sooner than later. we have all watched shows that have gone a season too long.

  12. We have watched every season too. Sorry it will be gone but better to go out on a high note rather than be a shadow of itself. Violet can't live forever! LOL Will miss her quips. And I agree Lady Mary is nastier this year. I definitly will be collecting the seasons so that it will be rewatched.
