Too Hot to Cook

Gentle Friends, we are totally spoiled here by the Bay - with temps typically hovering int he low 60's year round.  So when the mercury starts to climb into the upper 70's the sweltering begins.......  Monday was one of our "hot" days with the temps around 78 and so instead of turning on the stove or cooking we decided to walk down to 24th Street for some burgers.... at Barney's......

...they have inside and patio seating, we sat outside and as the sun set the breeze picked up and it was a lovely evening.....

...  they make a basic burger then lots of variations.......  we started off with a full order of fries......

... and then out came the burgers....
... I had the North Beach, cheddar cheese sauteed mushrooms and artichoke hearts......  and Rico had......

.... cheese lovers with sprouts......

.....  and then to the table was brought what I really came for, a delicious Turkish Coffee milkshake!!  There was so much shake I took some of it home!!  It was nice to get out of the warm house - since we don't have air conditioning (as most home here don't) the house was warm with only hot air blowing around by a fan.  By the time dinner was over and we had walked around 24th Street, the sun had set the wind had picked up and the temps dropped back into the comfortable upper 60's.

  1. Temps in the 70s sound good to me & John but the 60s, even better : ) Those fries look delicious! I see we are going to have to make a visit to Barney's the next time we're in the area ... maybe in September : )

  2. Yummy! I'll have a bite of yours. :) I always laugh at what some people consider warm weather. My MIL lives in the north of England and she's like you with the high 70s being warm. For us, it's the 90s. ;)

  3. Yummy! I always enjoy your posts about the weather, Edgar. We all get so acclimated to our local climates. Upper 60s sounds very chilly to me, 78 sounds like heaven... Enjoy your day!

  4. In the South it is hot hot hot and filled with humidity you could cut with a knife. Temps in the 70's sounds great and that shake looks yummy!

  6. Wow. It's been over 90 degrees every day since the beginning of July (it's a cool summer since we've yet to hit 100). Looks like a great burger joint. Meanwhile, we're waiting for Blue Bell to start producing ice cream again to cool down over here in Texas.

  7. You SF people are so lucky. 78. lololol! But yes, if you don't have AC, and if you're on an upper floor, things can get hot. I bet it wasn't humid though? That's the worst. Today here it's about 80 degrees with low humidity for a change. It feels wonderful! lol!

  9. Oh My Word!! I was salivating over the fries and then dribbling over the burgers but then, by the time the shake arrived, I was just a big-ole slobber-face! Looks so yummy and yea, sweating here in the Sunshine State, I could see why temps in the 70's would drive you out of the house. LOL
I'm glad you enjoyed your meal and even happier that you shared the goodness with us!

  10. Your burgers, fries and shake look delicious! I can't imagine 60's all year. We have such extremes in temps ranging from -20F in January/February to hot and humid 90's and above in July/August.

  11. That looks Like a great place to eat on a warm night. I have been complaining about the heat a lot this summer. It was 93 degrees on Sun. It was horrible. Like you, very few things have AC so when it gets hot we suffer. I have been on a cooking strike due to the heat several times this summer.

  12. Dearest Edgar: I just wanted to eat the food right off my computer screen, it looks yummy.
I am partial to the upper 80's and 90's.

  13. A Turkish Coffee milkshake? Yum!!! When you were having 70s we were in the 90s. Only 80s now, but we have central A/C. Thank goodness.
