Gentle Friends, last Fall a totally cute shop opened up in my neighborhood called "Buttons Candy Bar." It is just packed full of the old fashioned candies and fun treats.
Last week we stopped by to see all the super Easter goodies. Of course I had my camera along and here are some fun snaperoos......
.... lots of Easter candies.....
..... a detail of those darling rabbits......
.....here is the main candy case full of delicious chocolates, and behind, in big jars are all types of licorice's.... especially my favorites.....
... Pontefract Cakes..... delicious!!!! These are really hard to find locally so I have had to resort to ordering them on line and having them shipped from England for my "Pontefract Cakes" fix - now I only have to walk a couple of blocks for a treat! Buttons is a great shop for classic candies like Bit-o-Honey, Fire Balls, Root beer Barrels, Mary Jane's and Necco Wafers. If you are ever close by stop in for something sweet!!

Today's Peep Report is another Limited Edition Peep.....
... Orange Creme.....
..... orange in colour, and delightfully orange aroma when you pop them open. They are covered in orange sparkles - and have a nice orange flavour when eaten. These are by far the most interesting and tasty of the Peeps I've been trying, so the old Peep-o-Meter rates them at a whopping 8.5. You all have been mentioning the lemonade/lemon Peeps, and i am having a devil of time finding them. Could they be exclusive to Walmart?? Since there is no Walmart in the City or near me I may have to travel to find them, but I'll keep an eye out.

That's about it for today sports fans. Thanks for stopping by, do stop again!!
Take care,
edgar
Peep fan myself but...I like them a bit stale... actually hard as rocks stale. Did you read Pontefract cakes come with a warning...funny on Wiki....enjoy.

Such a fun post - I love the cheery, happy colors AND the candy too, of course!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun shop! Love all the bunnies! Love your peep reports, I had no idea there were so many different flavors. The lemonade ones I had were from either a Walmart or Target.
ReplyDeletePontefract cakes were my mums' favourite sweet. I am surprised you ever had them in America as they are very English. Luckily we can pick them up easily in all of our supermarkets. The shop looks amazing by the way.
ReplyDeleteThe candy shop looks like a fun place to visit! I wonder which Peep will get the 10!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun store! Hopefully you won't have to visit the dentist after all the Peep-eating you've been doing, lol!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I want to go to that store. lol! Those peeps sound soooo good!
ReplyDelete(It's a little troublesome for me to comment these days due to how bad the reading app I'm using on my ipad is for that activity, I'm still reading, mostly, but my comments are AWOL!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! The pontefract cakes look amazing! In my youth, I didn't like licorice, but maybe I only had bad stuff. These days I enjoy anise liqueurs and also the flavor added to dark chocolate--maybe I should hie me to the city to track some down.
What a cute shop!
ReplyDeleteSurely a place you could get lost in. Love the button hanging out front.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little shop! Dang...now I want some candy! See what you started. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Stitching.
What a wonderful shop! thanks for the peep report!
ReplyDeleteI decided to head to my Walmart tonight to see about these Peeps! What a wonderful candy store. When my kids were little, I tried to put very nice candy in their baskets. I loved a good candy store.
ReplyDeleteAh, Pontefract Cakes. Or Liquorice Allsorts, I'm not fussy!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful sweet shop
What a lovely addition to your neighborhood!
