Gentle Readers and Dear Friends the weekend once again flew by..... and although it seemed relaxing we got quite a bit done.
Let me start off with a snap of Part 6 of the Mystery SAL from Carol
I really love the scissors in this square. This is a really fun piece to do and I am so happy that I jumped right in!! Thanks again Carol!!!
_________
One thing we did do that was sort of out of the ordinary was a quickie visit to the Flower Market..
You can really tell that Autumn/Fall was winding down and Christmas was winding up... here are some snaps from our visit....
There were a few chrysanthemums - and these where really pretty.
Unlike Madonna - I love Hydrangeas!! and this colour is great!!
These orchids look almost like silk in their perfection.
I do love a bromeliad - and these where really pretty
at Fantastico's (yes that is the name of the store) They have lots of Christmas out already...
and they even have this very pretty Fall Tree in the middle of all the Christmas ones!.
__________
Speaking of Christmas - one of my favorite things to get are these -
Lebkuchen- a totally seasonal thing that our little German Store only gets during the Holidays - we stopped in not thinking they would have any and she had gotten some in!! Woo-Hoo!!! I was introduced to them when I travelled in Germany - this cookie originated in Nuremberg=- and you can get the there all the year.
__________
Keeping with the foodie theme... we had a great end of weekend dinner last night - I fixed us some onion rings and Rico grilled us a steak....
__________
Yesterday afternoon I baked up a Pumpkin Bread with a brown Sugar glaze....
This recipe was posted last week over at The Country Cook - and it is simply delicious!!!!! I'll re post it over a Blacksheep Bakes with my changes. I did finally post the Taco Won Tons - let me know if you have any questions!!
__________
__________
I think I'll leave off today with a snap of Smokie - he has really taken to the Big Girls bed....
There you go sports fans - thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment!!
Take care,
edgar
OMG Smokie is SOOOOO Cute!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat pumpkin bread made my mouth water. Stitching is beautiful and Smokie is just precious. Those flowers were awesome.
ReplyDeleteSmokie is so adorable!! I hope he and the girls are getting along. Your SAL piece is looking good! I love the scissors part! And the flower market -- wow! I bet it smells wonderful there as well as being filled with gorgeous sights. I'm so bad, I wouldn't know a bromeliad. lol! I can't believe people are already getting Christmas things out. I'm still having a hard time believing it's fall. The leaves aren't giving any pretty colors this year with all the rain and flooding we've had this summer. It's very sad. As for those taco wontons, what temp to do you fry them at? I assume you deep fry them? Thanks for posting the recipe!
ReplyDeleteOh i just love Smokie to bits.
ReplyDeleteYour SAL is looking wonderful, i love the scissors part i have so enjoyed this SAL.
Well we also brought Lebkuchen , but i was so naughty i have eaten them all, i now have to stock up again for Christmas. They are so nice and yummy.
OMG, Smokie is cute-overload inducing! Those Scissors in red are a real eye-catcher.
ReplyDeleteOh, how swoon-worthy that autumn tree is! And, for me, I say "Boo To Christmas!" Even though I am stitching ornaments happily. But, it is not even Halloween! Eh; don't get me started.
Smokie is so adorable...such a sweet little face!
ReplyDeleteHi Edgar, I just found you blog and I love it. But I love Smokie even more, she is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI will be visiting you again here in The Netherlands! Marijke
I love your version of Carol's stitch along. The scissors are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers - stunning.
I am a big Christmas fan and that photo was just too cool.
We just finished celebrating Christmas with our children and grandchildren. Next - take the tree down and put it all away.
Have your tried the Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole?
lovely stitching as always ... oohh the flowers look lovely and wonderful colours ... the fall tree looks funny amongst all that glitzy Christmas stuff .... ohhhhhh now am hungry after seeing your food *sigh kettle going on and raiding the cupboards for a biscuit as a friend once said "a drink is to wet without one" ..lol and smokie is just way cute :) love mouse xxxx
ReplyDeleteVisiting your website always makes me hungry!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying Carol's SAL too .. love the look of yours :)
what a sweet sweet face he has :)
Edgar, I love hydrangeas too. They're so big and beautiful and over the top. As for lebkuchen, I make it every year at Christmas...as did my mother..and her mother before her. I have a great recipe if you ever want it.
ReplyDeleteHere I am, one SOLID WEEK late with your birthday greetings. But they are heart-felt just the same. Love that sampler! Loving that flower market too and the Autumn tree. I have a small owl tree that I keep up year-round with nothing but owl ornaments that I've collected.
ReplyDeleteSmokie is such a cutie!
Love all the photos - stitching, shopping, food - but the one of Smokie has to be the best. He couldn't be any cuter!
ReplyDeleteWoowww, I've missed quite a few posts. You really have been baking quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteFirst, belated birthday wishes to you. Love the SAL progress
Sounds like you had a fun weekend, stitching, shopping and good food.
ReplyDeleteGreat progress on your SAL
ReplyDeleteAnd the Hydrangea is gorgeous ;)
Love those little puppy feet!
ReplyDeleteEdgar I would love to get your batter recipe for onion rings. Those look so lights and fluffy - just the way I like them! Please share!!
ReplyDeleteHi Edgar - first let me say a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I am finally caught up with you, Rico and the Whoo Hounds. Smokie is just so darn cute and I can certainly empathize with the older crew - it is tough dealing with a youngin!!!
ReplyDeleteYour stitching as always is incredible and you get so much done. Love all your baked goods and yes Trader Joes has tons of can pumpkin - I am on my second batch. I only get to TJ when I go to Atlanta, which I have been going to a lot recently!!
On the stitching front - I am slowly getting back into the swing of things and life is finally getting back to normal.

I love that scissor motif in the SAL! It's looking great.
ReplyDeleteThat fall tree is really unique! I don't think I've ever seen one decorated like that. Very pretty!
The pumpkin bread looks awesome!! I do a pumpkin loaf with chocolate chips and my DH adores it. Only problem is that I eat it too and I'm desperately trying to lose some weight. So for now I'll just drool over your pic, lol!
Smokie is a real cutie!
I was in Hobby Lobby Saturday and it was crazy how it had like 2 aisles for fall/Halloween stuff and the rest was Christmas. You'd think they could wait...
ReplyDeleteThis was a fabulous post! I love you progress and all your pics!. I love when you post about food!! LOL! Your puppies are too cute!
