Everyone is so Thoughtful

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts,
comments and emails it means so much to Rico and me.

It is so hard to read them - every time I tried yesterday - I could read about three comments and start sniveling all over again. Today I am up to about 6 and the snivels start. I think by the end of the weekend I should be able to read through them all at once and then take a breath. It does seem so futile to loose it each time I start to think about her...... my sweet little dog could not have been more loved or spoiled - heaven knows she ran our house with an iron paw!!! For example when ever The Peach was sitting on a pillow, it didn't matter which pillow, on the sofa, if Hunny wanted it she would sort of scooch in there and just nuzzle away or just stand and stare at The Peach until she moved off and jumped down, and then Hunnylicious would flop down on her ready made warm spot. She was a total cuckoo about the puppy beds doing the same thing to Pete - so she could get the warm spot in there - boy she was sure pushy!!

I have hardly put needle to linen in the past few days.
I will have something on Monday I am sure.

Last night the flickers were "Laura" - 1944 - a super movie starring Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Vincent Price, Clifton Webb and Judith Anderson. A great movie and I would highly recommend it if you have not seen it. This was followed by a really good movie "Knight Without Armour" - 1937 - starring Marlene Dietrich and Robert Donat.
Very entertaining and worth a look.

On Wednesday we did get out of the house and to the Legion of Honor to view "Artistic Luxury" an exhibition of beautiful objects from Faberge, Tiffany and Lalique. We were there when they opened the gates and even though there was quite a few others waiting we hustled up and got into the exhibition space and had the whole show to ourselves for almost 45 mins. The temporary space they continue to use at the LoH is very small. This show the pieces are not very large as most of it is gorgeous jewelry and small decorative things so you need to be able to get near the cases to see the things. With nobody else there it was very easy to see everything close up and not feel the crush of a crowd. Here is one of the pieces -

The Danish Palaces Egg - 1890 - Gift from Alexander III to Marie Fyodorovna.

The show was really worth it and I would recommend that if you are planning to go - go during the week and get there early - as It does get very crowded on the weekends.

Thank you all for your support!! Do come again -

Take care,
edgar

  1. Edgar, don't rush your grieving process. It takes time. I know I cried every single day for a solid month after my sweet Whiner passed away. I still cry even to this day.

  2. It's the happy memories that will get your through this! I still expect my Kobe to bark every time the door bell rings after 4 years of him being gone. If ever you want to share any memories you can always email me...I love the hear about people and their babies :-)

  3. Edgar, take it slow and hug the other babies a little extra. I choked up reading about how Hunny would "steal" the warmed spots. :) My little girl was the one who always gave hers up. :)
You and Rico take care and take Peach and Pete out for a little extra spoiling this weekend.

  4. Edgar, cry if you need. It is part of the healing process. She was a lucky little dog having you and Rico to love and spoil her.

  5. Thought of you today Edgar... you and Rico... it is just so hard to lose a pet... they have so much preciousness wrapped up into their small package... their personality is so infectious that they literally become a family member... and sometimes a better one than our own blood relatives ;)

Let your heart mourn and let your tears roll as they come...

you and Rico both need to feel this...

it is real, and the pain, grief, and loss is evidence and a tangible glimpse of the tip of the iceberg of how much love your hearts are capable of...

I sit with you both in this... it is significant, and it's one of those things that reaffirm just how sacred and special life is... in all its forms... even to furry fuzzy Hunny. :)

hugs and love... and a heart that is with you.

  6. It is important to give extra affection to Pete and Peach, they are grieving too. Besides, giving them an extra hug means you get one in return. When I lost my dobie DH's beagle looked sad and moped around for weeks, she kept looking for the big guy and wouldn't even play with her toys. They don't understand where their friend went so you must be there for them...as they are always there for you. I'm sending you and all your "family" extra warm hugs all weekend, reach out and grab hold.

  8. Edgar, I hope you and Rico get my e-mail today. I'm so sorry for your loss and my terrible lateness in posting here.
What a strange world it is when the best and most loving are taken from us. They are so innocent and unaware and are lucky to have kind souls like you and Rico.
So soon after the loss of my Alix, I feel this very deeply. I treasure your Christmas card with the photo of all of you together.

  10. Sorry for the belated condolences for Hunny. And like so many others have said the grieving process is not to be rushed. I should know, I had my dear cat “Tai” for 20 years and it took me 6 months before I got over my grief and depression. Even after 8 years I still think about him from time to time. At least I have his ashes as a memento. *HUGS* to both you and Rico.

  11. Dear Edgar, I was sooo sorry to hear about the loss of your dear pup and beloved baby. It's the worst thing when these little family members go home because their hearts seem to stay with us such a long time. Just this week, my DH came across a picture of our first Yorkie, Clara I, who's been gone for about 7 years. He caught me off guard showing me the picture and I just started crying! Our pets are so dear to us. I know your pain. I hope you two feel better soon. Love and hugs, Deb
