It's Monday again -

This weekend was spent doing house crap and fun stitching ...and watching some flicks!!!

Two out of three of my favorite things!!

Now for the Monday tangent........ It seems to me that just the two of us have way too much laundry - don't get me wrong I really do enjoy doing the washing and ironing - I don't know why - I always have. I guess it would be the sense of accomplishment or something - But our laundry room in our building has only 2 washers and 2 dryers so sometimes it is a real tussle to see who can get there first and then hang on to them. Over the past 3 days I did at least 5 loads of laundry - one of the loads was the hounds blankets and bedding so does that count? I know my sister with two children does at least a load a day. At least I don't have that much to do. I do think how lucky we are that there are washing machines and that we aren't having to drag dirty clothes down to the river and beat them clean on a rock or haul it out to boil it clean in some giant cauldron in the backyard - Hooray for the modern conveniences!!!!

My stitching was focused on finishing two exchange pieces that I can't show right now. I can show the second section of the ABC SAL that I finished up -

The second section is the two rectangles on the right.
This is really turning out to be a pretty quick and fun stitch.

Now for the next project I am trying to decide if I want to go with some linen I have or trot over to NIAH and see what I can find. I will probably come down to - I have a quite a few larger pieces of linen - and do I - or should I spend on another piece .... funions are running low this month right after the Holidays dontcha know!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. Oh hon, I so understand your laundry dilemma. Since I live in an RV park, we share our washers and dryers with all the residents. You are only allowed to use 2 machines. If you are not right there to get your laundry out immediately, all he----- can break out. Sometimes, it is almost funny.
Love your ABC SAL. Have a great week

  2. Love the ABC SAL piece. I was tempted to do this one too! I have been downloading the pattern just in case I get chance to make a start!

Laundry - mmmnn - I don't mind laundry but I like it to dry outside in the fresh air. If I use the drier I never seem to get the timing right - it's either still damp or dry as a bone and therefore not easy to iron! And the weather is awful at the moment - damp, gloomy, dark and dismal.

  3. Edgar,

Your SAL is looking gorgeous. I do love that color combo and the fabric that you have it on. Good job!

Speaking of fabric.. I'm an enabler so I'd say "but Edgar.. you said you hadn't been to NIAH in awhile." LOL But I am doing the same thing with funds right now.. trying to preserve where I can.

I was never so glad as when I was able to move into a condo and get my own washer/dryer. No more fights over the machines, or rude neighbors that would take others' laundry out and poor it onto tables (or the floor... grrr)

  5. Ohhhhh, I'm remembering the days of the 'laundramat', everybody hates having to find a washing machine, so don't worry, it's not just you.

I'm a little slow on my ABC this time, I've had a couple of exchanges to work on also and one other. I'm about half way through the new section and hope to finish it up today. I'm surprised what a quick stitch this really is. I LOVE your color combo!!!

BTW, go shopping, even if you decide not to buy, it will make you feel better, he he he.

  7. Love the part about not having to beat the dirty clothes on rocks down at the river. When my mother complained about doing the laundry my dad, in his lovingly dysfunctional way, would tell her "It's not YOU doing the washing, it's the MACHINE!"
ABC-SAL looks great. I've downloaded and printed the pattern sections so far, but I'm still debating if I want to take up another project right now. Trying to focus on sale-able stuff. It's that "funions" thing again.

  8. Beautiful piece. I have this chart in my TO DO pile...it's always growing:0 I love the colors you picked. Am not sure what colors I'm going to use. I want to complete 2 more small projects before I start a new one.

Laundry...does the pile ever go down? I thought when my kids were little it would get better...but now that they're teenagers it's worse! Luckily, my DH helps share the loads. LOL Have a Wonderful Day!

  10. Your SAL is looking wonderful! I LOVE the colors. As for laundry - boy do I understand. I have one teenage son at home and it seems that between myself and him we have LOADS upon LOADS. Then of course over the holidays my older DS was home from college and there was LOTS more laundry to be done! No way could I have hauled it all the the river! LOL

  11. Eeek! I hate laundry. I don't do ironing in packloads - just an outfit at a time when I need it. I am loving your colour scheme on this piece.

  12. Lately I've been trying to get the kids to do their own laundry and sometimes I think I'd rather do it all myself. Clothes are left in the washer or dryer, things not put away, baskets full of laundry - are they clean or dirty? I had a schedule, but no one can stick to it with the various activities we all have. Argh! Lol! Gotta keep laughing or I'll go crazy!

  16. Yours is the prettiest alphabet I've seen Edgar :) Love it!! You have perfect sense of color.

AND...I hear you about the laundry - believe me...I hear you!

  18. Hello Edgar, beautiful colours on your ABC SAL. I am downloading that one for a future date :-)
Can you keep your voice down about the washing machines. My DH still thinks I DO go and beat it against the rocks beside the loch. Can't have him thinking I just sit at home and stitch all day now can i ?!? LOL

  19. Your ABC SAL piece is fabulous! I love the colors in it. I hear you on the laundry. 3 kids, 1 husband, and everybody pretends to not know how to work the machine!!

  22. Edgar I love the work on you SAL. It’s kind of funny - I stumbled across her blog by accident 2 days ago and thought… Hummmm I wonder if that’s the Edgar I know? And by the looks of this post it is! I too have been downloading this one for a future start, as I have far too many on my WiP pile already. *LOL*

It’s too bad you don’t have any W/D hook-ups in the apartment. A small stackable one is so convenient.
