A Little Stitchin' (with a little update)

Gentle Friends, well, here's a snap of my new start.....

... it's a lovely large piece from Heartsring Samplery called "His Eye is on the Sparrow."  I left my notes at home about the specifics but here's what I remember...... I have already changed the main green vine colour from WDW Oscar to GAST Camouflage and the red flower was to be done in another red and I chose a GAST color called Old Red Paint.   The reason for the changes it two-fold - I didn't have enough of either color in my floss stash to complete the border without reordering - and then I would have the problem with different dye lots..... but I did have multiple skeins of each of these from the same dye lots..... the second reason, I really like the color Camouflage and have used it on many occasions for a dark shaded green and Old Red Paint is a great red color that works well with the green.  I forget what the linen is exactly, but it is a 36 count piece with lots of green mottling.

UPDATE: The linen is 36ct PTP Heritage

Prairie Moon - "Thine Is the Trick or Treat"
September 16 - October 17, 2017
Stitched on Silkweaver 36ct Days Gone By
I used Belle Soie throughout and here's the break down by colour:
Black - "Old Crow"
Orange - "Lasagna"
Green - "Collard greens"
I also used:
"Tulip" for the Rat's eye
"Her Crowne" for the crow's eye
 "Beanstalk" for the cat's eye

It was a great piece to work on and it stitched up really fast.  I remember when this was first released in 2010 and every year I wanted to stitch it in the Fall or around Hallowe'en it was always on the top of the "to be stitched" pile.... now it's been done....last night I pulled together my next stitching project - all the floss and linen ... I'll talk about that on Monday when I have some of it stitched and it actually looks like something!!

A Weekend of Fun

Gentle Friends, over the weekend we did quite a few fun things.... I took off Friday so that we could attend a friends wedding.... the wedding was over in the East Bay in a town called Pleasanton.  Actually a little outside the city at the Callippe Preserve Golf Club.  Here are some snaps....

... the ceremony was entirely outside and here is Gabrielle looking really lovely!!

 ... Rico and Prisma...

... following the ceremony, there were drinks and snacks out on the large patio...

... here's a shot over the course looking towards the west...

... we all sat down to a really nice dinner....

....  as the sun was setting, it turned into a lovely evening...

... here are Jefferey and Gabrielle and their first dance ...

....instead of a traditional cake, there were these delicious cupcakes.....

Another high point this weekend was at the grocery store Saturday morning... as you all know I am a BIG fan of eggnog and await with great anticipation the arrival of Buds's back to the shelves every year.  Now, usually it shows up late in November but this year it has shown up really early...

and so I bought a couple of quarts and started celebrating the season on the early side!!

... on Saturday afternoon we headed to the Castro Theatre for another performance/spoof created by Peaches Christ.  This time she used "Hocus Pocus" and brought to the stage a really super live performance satire weaving parts of the film into the dialogue and musical numbers.
It was a packed house and so fun!!!
After the performance, we wrapped up the evening with dinner at the Sausage Factory.

Here's a Poster with the original cast that included Ginger Minj, she had to drop out and was replaced by the super talented Bob the Drag Queen.

Even Sunday was a great day as it included a late afternoon visit to our massage therapist, Andrew.

We've been seeing him monthly for the past year or so and every time I leave I'm a limp noodle and so relaxed.... it makes me ready to face another week head on.....

A Little Carrot Cake

Gentle Friends, yesterday was another year down and I came home to this......

.... and then after dinner...... it turned into ...

.... even after saying "don't do anything" and "it's just another day" it was a really sweet thing to do..... thank goodness there were only a few candles representing the sheaf of years I've been around ... if there were a candle per year we would have had to call out the fire brigade!!!

A Little Baking

Gentle Friends, since it's Fall - Yea!! - my mind always turns to pumpkins..... and this past weekend was no different.  I got busy looking for something to make and landed on a recipe for "Coffee Shop Pumpkin Scones."  I found one at allrecipes and it turned out to be really easy and quite tasty!!  Here's a snaperoo...

... you can also tell its Fall around our house since Oogie Boogie is on the counter along with my Hallowe'en mug!!  As with most recipes, I made a couple of changes.  Instead of the 4 spices called for, I used my own Pumpkin Pie Spice blend of 6 spices - the recipe for that can be found HERE.  I also double the glaze and again only used my PPS blend.  These treats came together quickly and were really good - so easy and good work for me - it's a keeper!!
