An Easter Treat......

Gentle friends it just wouldn't be Easter without some....

...Peeps!!  With their catch phrase being "Peeps - always in season" one can enjoy these marshmallow treats year round with different shapes for different Holidays.  Waxing nostalgic I just can't remember an Easter when these weren't a part of my Easter Basket - and now since I have tipped the scale, age wise and am on the slow slide to senility, I just buy them and enjoy.  There are others in my house, and it would be tacky if I was to mention names....... Rico....... that turn their noses up and make a sqinchy face at my Peeps, that's when I feel it is my duty to rip into another box and pop one into the gaping maw!!

Over the weekend I saw some that were different flavours, and now I feel the need to give them a try..... and as I find other Peepish related stuff I'll be making "Peep Reports" - because I just know that although there are detractors for this wonderful confection, there are just as many that really enjoy them, like Me!!!!
____________

That's about it for today sports fans, I'm still stitching away on the Band Sampler, but it is just fill stitching and not much to look at, so I'll wait until Friday to post an updated snaperoo..  Thanks for stopping!!

Take care,
edgar

  1. My husband and most of my kids love Peeps, too. I have never liked the taste of them (I don't like marshmallows) but I love the look of them and use them for decor! We were at Walmart last weekend and they have so many pretty colors - I gotta go buy some. Enjoy!

  2. Love Peeps! And you are right... it's just not Easter without Peeps! Love that you had an Easter Basket...gosh, that really brings back memories...did you all have to get dressed up to the 9's and take photos on Easter, too?

OMGoodness.....Rico does not love Peeps. Hmmmm...he sounds like my Husband...who always laughs when I put them (as in more than one box) in my buggy around this time of year...but I have taught him the wonderfulness of Peeps...he will eat one or two...I think he just does that to shut me up, but any who, he still will eat them! Awww the things we do for love! :)

Ok, gotta run to the store now...I see Peeps in my future! :)

  3. Oh Edgar, I have to totally agree with you! Easter would not be the same if there were no Peeps! I love them just like you do. I'll have to go get me a box or two. Yum! Looking forward to the Peep reports. LOL!

  4. I love peeps too! But they have to be stale and chewy. I open the pack and wait!!....sometimes not long enough though as I have little self control. ;-)

  6. Think the peeps are cute, love all the different colors and such, but I am not a fan of marshmallow candy. Though I do love fuffernutter sandwiches (marshmallow fluff and peanutbutter on soft bread!)

  7. Ah, Peeps :) I look forward to these and Cadbury Creme Eggs this time of year. I'm glad my DH sticks up his nose (like someone in your household, who will remain unnamed, Rico) at them because they're all mine :)

  8. I don't think you get them over here. I have never had them or seen them. They look interesting.

  9. My teeth are hurting just looking at this pic. I haven't eaten a peep in ages but I do remember I liked them just like Kathy does...a tad bit stale and chewy. I thought I'd never come across anyone else who liked them that way!

  10. I am going with Rico on this ... even as a child I claimed that Peeps made my teeth itch. I used to trade my Peeps with any sibling that would give up his or her dark chocolate covered coconut egg or even one or two of the candy shelled and much smaller malted milk eggs.

  11. Peeps are great but it's not Easter without Cadbury Cream Eggs.

  13. Edgar, do you know about the Washington Post's annual Peep diorama contest?

You can view the galleries of past entries and winners in advance of the 2014 contest. It is a HOOT!

  14. My Dad likes to let them get hard before he will he them. I cannot wait for your 'peep reports' - love it!

  15. I am a sqinchy face about Peeps too, but even though they are nasty to eat, they are adorable. Here is the address for some photos from last year's Peep show (haha, peep show!)

  17. Oh yes, the Peeps must be aged, like fine wine! Poke holes in the wrapper and let them get a nice crunchy shell LOL. Good that not everyone in the house loves them...all the more for you!

  18. Many years ago when I was in College, my Mom used to send me Peeps in the Spring!! The kids at the school where I volunteer make amazing things out of peeps.

  19. I love peeps. I usually go to a conference I the US in April, so get my peep fix them. My roomie on these trips, Jelena, is completely addicted and fills her suitcase with them. This year we are off to Calgary, we're quite worried Canadians don't do peeps....

  20. Sorry to say that I am not a Peep fan and never was even as a child. I know they have them year round for various holidays but I just always associate them with Easter.

  21. I love Peeps! Absolutely love them! But I love the original Peeps ... these little chickies that used to be in my childhood Easter baskets every year. Although I will eat some other Peeps creation from time to time, they never taste the same as the chickies ... & none of the chickies ever taste as good as the white ones which unfortunately aren't made anymore. The Peeps company decided white was "blah" for today's consumers I guess, but I always considered them to be the "gourmet Peeps." Also, my Peeps must age before they are fit to be eaten. I place an open package on top of the refrigerator for a few days until the aging process is complete. Hard chewiness ... yum!
