Gentle Readers and Dear Friends (back to my normal salutation) I wanted to mention that in addition to our running around Saturday we did stop off at a couple of Estate Sales and I did find a few goodies....
.... A great book lavishly illustrated about the Christmas Story - with its original boxed cover to keep the cream linen clean, a very large tea diffuser, a little Worcester plate celebrating the Queens Silver Anniversary and two DVD's I didn't have. So for less than $6 I made out pretty well! You just can't beat the sales for finding some bargains.

I was really surprised at the response to the sugared nuts - they are something delicious, but I think I forgot to mention the actual recipe I used - to one 22 ounce bag of RAW red skinned peanuts - you will need a 1 1/4 C white sugar and 3/4 cup water. The nuts have to start off raw as they will roast while they dry out during the cooking time. I have seen other variations - like 2 C raw peanuts, 1/2 C water and 1C white sugar - There are all sorts of slight variations, like adding a little salt when you spread them out etc... but you always end up with something delicious!!! Out west, for me the most difficult part is finding the raw peanuts!

I worked a little tiny bit on the La D Da "ABC's", but not enough for a shot - I'll get one for tomorrow.
That's about it for today sports fans - thanks for stopping by, and for all your super comments!!! I do appreciate them - and you for your kindness!!! Do stop by again.
Take care,
edgar
Wow - you can find the sales! Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteYou got some wonderful things! Blessings, Shirlee
ReplyDeleteNice finds! Wish we had as many sales here as you have there. I must rummage through Peddler's Malls to find a treasure. Sometimes I do...sometimes I don't.
ReplyDeleteI do like this salutation best. You have made it your own!
Thanks Peggy!!!! I think it fits and I am used to it.
DeleteYou always find good things at estate sales. I need to find out where to find them around here. Lots of rich people in the area. lol!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds!
ReplyDeleteThose peanuts are great! We make them sometime (can't remember the exact recipe we use right off) but they sure don't last long! YUM!
You always seem to do so well at estate sales
ReplyDeleteSome wonderful finds there, Edgar. :)
ReplyDeleteYou find the best things when you go estate shopping!
ReplyDeleteGreat estate sale finds!! I haven't seen Bonnie & Clyde - I guess I should watch it, as they are from around my neck of the woods here in north Texas.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great film and Faye Dunaway was never better - Estelle Parsons won a Best Supporting Oscar for her performance and it won the Oscar for Best Cinematography - worth a look.
Deleteyou found some great goodies! Bonnie and Clyde, love that one, such a classic!
